Tough Mudder was a Bust :(

15 Comments 2149 views

I woke up bright and early (5:30AM) to get ready for the Tough Mudder only to find out the event was canceled. :(

It seems the storms that blew through the area on Saturday flooded the course and parking area. I was totally bummed.

There was nothing to do but go back to bed. So that’s what I did.

The rest of the day was spent hanging with my friend and her family. We went to the inner harbor, had lunch, took the boys to the new Ripley’s Believe or Not Museum and just hung out.

This was after a day of swag bag stuffing for FitBloggin’, a soccer game, a cleaning frenzy and a night out with friends.

I. AM. TIRED!

Can you tell?

I’m going to enjoy this fudge bar and then go to bed. If I don’t I fear I’ll start digging in the pantry. My diet wasn’t stellar this weekend and now all I want to do is eat for eating sake.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Sorry about the mudder :( I was thinking about you today and was looking forward to your post! Maybe it was just this day. My family and I set out to take a nice long walk today and on the way to the park I got “stung” by a plant! Right in my back. It felt like getting stung by a bee! Some plants are just plain mean :)

I agree – eating more just makes me want to “eat more”. You’ve just gotta drive the stake into the ground and stop. Hoping you were too tired to eat anymore after the fudge bar! Also – you sound SO busy and sometimes that can be a blessing (too busy to get into troble “eating-wise”) and sometimes it can mean total destruction (not having enough time to plan your healthy meals/snacks). When I get busy like that, sleep becomes my first priority. I look forward to reading your posts each day – keep up the good work! Remember – attitude is everything – pick a good one ;)

I had friends do the Tough Mudder on Saturday!! So sorry it was cancelled!!!

The comments on tm fb page are interesting… saturday tons and tons of people didnt get to race… not because of the storms but because of poor planning. They had this the same day as another big event with another 50000 people in that small town with those small country roads.

Im signing up for my first one – VA beach next June. I cant imagine doing all the training and then it be canceled :(

The traffic was crazy around here! I am about 20 minutes from the event and traffic was a stand still Saturday. Check the Frederick News Post they have articles about why it was cancelled.

It’s interesting that they told you it was because of weather, because that is NOT what they said in the paper. Evidently it was a huge planning fiasco. I’m so sorry that you didn’t get to race, but I’m glad you checked your email before you left. : )

That is such a bummer! I saw some posts on FB about so many registrants not getting to run, and I was wondering if you were able to run the course–so bummed to hear you weren’t able to! :(

Also, as annoying as I thought it was at the time, I am now really glad that TM rented a huge parking lot at a shuttered factory and got shuttle busses for the event I ran in OH earlier this year.

What a bummer! I hate when things get cancelled when you are looking forward to them. I would have gone back to sleep too!

Man, the Tough Mudder was such a big bummer and letdown. I actually live pretty close to the course, but was able to avoid all of the crazy traffic Saturday by taking back roads (people were stuck on 15 for like 4 hours!). It was definitely very poor planning in general- and THAT was why it was canceled Sunday. We actually drove over there on Sunday (they wouldn’t let you on the course) and looked at everything- and it was FINE. Definitely not flooded- not even close. Hopefully they’ll learn from this mess. My friend had put together a big team that had been training since last winter, and they were supposed to go out at 8 am on Sunday. They were SO crushed (and decided to do a workout that morning, and then spent the rest of the day at a bar. They were happy by afternoon. :))

I saw this event in Nov. and thought of you, in light of the Tough Mudder cancellation: http://hardcoremuddrun.com/events/jiminy-warmup-event.html
Might be a 6 hr.+ drive to Mass., though. Coming in 2013 to NJ.

Weird that the Tough Mudder would be cancelled due to rain…doesn’t sound very tough of ’em :)
