Today was our second ever planned Staycation Day!

The Husband and I decided we will no longer waste vacation days. Every few months we arrange care for both kids and just… well… do anything we want!

Today it was a game of tennis, a lunch of sushi, running shoe shopping, Barnes and Nobel browsing, and ice cream eating at McDs.

It was glorious! We are already trying to plan our next one.

Life is short. TAKE the time to live it. :)

What Why
Greek yogurt with berries, honey, cinnamon and a handful of chocolate cheerios This was so good I had to share it with the 7 year old!
Granola Bar quick snack before a tennis game with the husband!
Sushi lunch 2 maki rolls and 1 split with the husband. Lunch out for Staycation day.
McD’s Cone Treat with the hubby
Whole wheat spaghetti with summer squash and fresh basil quick dinner I whipped up. Will post on GreenLiteBites. I’m behind again!
Weight Training + tennis game with the husband + after dinner family walk
Could have been better.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. Sounds like a great day! My husband is self-employed and we were just recently discussing how much fun it would be to take a day off now and again especially in the summer. Right now I work 46 hours a week on the clock and was recently denied a day off. I just started a health coaching biz and hope to be able to quit within a month or two. I’ve always wanted to have the freedom of time. Like you say, we should enjoy every minute!

Sounds like the perfect day!! Love the new shoes!! Mizunos are my favorite! Saw the fb pic.

Mine to. I had a running store recommend them to me because I’m “slightly” wide.

We all need to energize our batteries and this sounds like a great way to do it.

I LOVE the idea of a staycation! You are so blessed to have a husband that will spend that kind of time with you.

OR I was smart enough to marry the right man. ;)
I think like to think it’s a bit of luck and good decision making. lol

Yes, good decision-making is so important in marriage. I thought I was making a good decision almost 15 years ago with my husband, but he recently left me and filed for divorce out of the blue. But I’m older and wiser now, and sometime in the future will be looking for the kind of man who enjoys the simple things in life like I do. Be so thankful you have the husband you do. By the way, I love your blog, Roni!

    Can’t beat a good staycation!

Excellent! DH and I call them date days – with both of us working and day care paid for, it saves us the added expense of a babysitter. We usually end up picking the kidlets up earlier than what they usually would be, to spend extra time with them, too. Glad to hear you had a great day!

Sounds like your spouse is a good friend. And there’s no better spouse to have, is there?

One of our favorite dates like this involves one of us burning a CD, opening the sunroof, and driving around the back roads of Jefferson County, KY at night holding hands.
