First Community Weigh In Wednesday

First, let me say I was taken back by how many of you want to weigh in with me weekly and I thing it’s AWESOME!

It’s like our own little asynchronous WW meeting and I miss them so. (I know, I’m strange like that.)

It reminded me why I started BlogToLose and made me sad that I’m not as active there as I could be. With the conference and my now 3 active blogs, 2 kids, and 1 child-like husband, it’s just not possible.

It also made me realize how badly I want to add a simple community feature here for those that don’t blog. I’ve had a few ideas for some time but have no way of implementing them at the moment. I’ve reached out to a developer to help with some more of the technical stuff and I’m hoping to launch something fun early next year.

Anyway, enough brain dumping and on to the weigh in!

I’m down 2.6! not bad considering my date night with husband at the wine bar and no food journaling over the weekend.

For those that are new to weighing in online the old standard is to leave a comment that shares things you’re height, heighest weight, current weight, goal weight. I think it would be great if we also added a note or two about the week (like a mini blog.) For example mine would be something like this…

This week down 2.6! Feel back on track after a few weeks of traveling.

Of course all that is optional. You could just comment with the change if it makes you more comfortable.

If you are down, congrats and keep the momentum going.

If you are up, NO BIG DEAL. You aren’t in this for the short term scale reading. You are in this for life. The scale is just one tool that measure one byproduct of your healthier lifestyle. Nothing more. Be honest with yourself and MOVE ON.

Now, this post better get 111 weigh comments. There’s no reason to miss this “meeting!”

    Well, it was a rough weekend, foodwise. Now it’s a bad week (female-wise:) ) I know 150 is still a lot for someone of my stature, but I’m a broad shouldered, 5’6 person, trapped in a short body! Lol

    Down one lb this week, but as I only started working on it 2 days ago, I am very happy with that. Plus I am currently hampered by a broken toe, so I was only able to work on my food. My plan is to take out sugar, flour and yeast as much as possible, mostly because of health issues. More next week!
    Though before I go I might add that I am coming out of months of rest because of a discectomy which followed several bouts of depression and herpes zoster in my head due to a severe burn-out. I am meeting a councellour today and hope that will be of great help.

    Thank you for this virtual weigh-in. I have been dreading getting on the scale after my surgery because my body has been through a lot in the last 3 weeks. I didn’t eat a lot for awhile and in the last week I “treated” myself to foods I don’t usually have. Like the pastries from well meaning relatives and my favorite chips. Anyway I was scared to face the scale but when you posted about weighing in as a community I told myself I’d do it.

    Thank you Roni, this is the lowest I’ve been all year and as it turns out facing the scale was not so bad. My week has been reset and I am going to make good food choices from this moment on.

    Wow, I gained this week!! Did not journal over weekend or paid attention to portion sizes. I have maintained somewhere in the 140s for the past 10 weeks or so. Yesterday was much better and I am NOT worried that the pounds will stick! Look out next Wednesday!!

    going through peri-menopause and fighting a battle – my waistline is disappearing!! I haven’t paid any attention to what I’m eating. My hands and brain don’t seem to have a connection! My skeleton is suffering with all of this weight on it. I used to be a runner – but I’m so heavy now that it’s extremely hard to maintain a constant pace. I was registered for a half marathon (bucket list) and had only 2 weeks to go before a hip injury (combined with back problems) forced me to withdraw. My plantar fasciitis is acting up again and I KNOW in my heart of hearts that all of this is due to the weight gain. Constant negative thoughts running through my brain.

    Down 1.3 from last week. I’m happy with that…want to get back in the 160s ASAP. Then I will FEEL better and my clothes won’t be tight (stupid move and summer traveling!). Thanks for this Roni–when you tweeted it last night (or FB, I don’t remember) it made me remember to get on the scale this morning. Third workout this week was this morning. Going to get in 2 more this week at least :) I am learning that planning my workouts for the week is the key to my success with working out.

    It’s been an almost 2 year battle getting the weight off from baby #2, I’ve gone as low as 155 but it always creeps back up. My short term goal for now is to lose 10% of my body weight. I want to say bye bye to 150’s for good. I practice yoga regularly and I really want to get back into my running groove (I took the summer off). I hope everyone has a great week!!

    Ugh! Was doing absolutely fantastic early part of week. working out. I mean GREAT work outs. Just need CONSISTENCY! Swimming in lake and also Total Gym. Had one day however, where I just began snacking on seemingly everything in the kitchen. Felt like total crap afterward so actually happy that happened. Bloated and crampy.     A goal weight is nice to have but i’m more focused right now on body fat %. Current is 23.6%. Goal is under 20%. I feel like this is a better measure for me since doing crossfit has added more muscle but not necessarily weight loss for me in the last few months.

    Coming off from post camping eating (cookies, cookies, cookies), I’m down 6 pounds. It’s sooo easy for me to put it on, and if I plug at it, it’s quick coming off. BUT once I hit the 147 mark, I tend to fly South. I don’t know if it’s harder for my body or subconsciously just wanna EAT everything in the kitchen.     I am down a pound from the last time I weighed, which was about a week ago. I purposefully put the scale away so I wouldn’t be so hard on myself every morning. I’ve been counting calories and it’s working! I also just bought a yonana because I saw yours and I love it w/just plain bananas!!! Tried to put dry cocoa in it and that was a mess. ;P

    Ugh, stayed comfortably at 126 for sooo long between my 1st and 4th baby and after the last baby this 10-15 lbs is annoying me to no end. Can’t keep motivated for more than 2 weeks. I rock the hardcore workouts 4-6 days a week and promptly go home and gobble up all the calories I just burned and then some. Thanks for this idea, with 4 kids and a husband that work a lot meetings are just not realistic for me right now! :)

    I’ve been on-plan for 8 weeks and feel like I’m starting to gain momentum – 16 pounds gone! Can’t wait to break into the 100’s and be considered “overweight” instead of “obese”. Working on getting ready to run a 5K with the Couch-to-5K. Have to do the first run without walking this Saturday, 20 minutes – I think I might keel over and die. I do think the exercise is helping me stay on track, so I will soldier on!

    I hope this will encourage the writer above who wrote
    “going through peri-menopause and fighting a battle – my waistline is disappearing!! I haven’t paid any attention to what I’m eating. My hands and brain don’t seem to have a connection! My skeleton is suffering….”

    I too used to be a runner and an aerobic instructor. Started going through hormonal changes and gave it all up. Gained 40+ pounds and my feet/hips/legs all suffered; not to mention my attitude. My husband said to me: “Here’s a book about a great diet…” and I got angry enough to start watching how much I ate. It wasn’t what I was eating but the amount. I lost from 170 to 157 and my feet/hips/legs feel better. I’m not finished! We all have to start somewhere. Don’t give up on yourself! Love yourself and hang in there. We all share a common bond–you are not alone!

    Roni – thanks for this virtual weigh in idea. I just returned from an 8 week vacation (I take the kids back “home” to see family each summer). Once again it did damage. I gained 10 pounds reverting back to many of my old habits. That said, the past 6 summers have seen a 20 pound gain. Eeks! So I’m taking it as progress. Clearly being around family brings out a ton of my food triggers/emotions. But now I’m back home and ready to get back to business. Thanks again!

    No net gain or loss since last week BUT on Monday morning I was 190.0. I know 4.6 lbs seems like a LOT to lose in 4 days BUT we were out of town partying it up with junk food and beers (and MORE beers) for 3 days straight. I was dehydrated and bloated on beer and sodium.
    Back to school this week so I don’t have time to mindlessly eat. It would be rude to eat in front of the students so I make sure to eat a good breakfast, bring lunch from home, and then eat a good dinner. I just need to add the exercise component back in. Hoping to be down a few more for next week! :)

    Ok, so I’m giving in and participating. I need the accountability . . . Reached Lifetime status at WW back in January, but my weight has crept up a bit. I started doing Crossfit back in March, so I’m not expecting to get back down to my WW goal weight, since I’ve gained a bunch of muscle, but not all of the weight I’ve gained is muscle. I’m a little late posting, but here we go!

    I’m so glad I found your web site. I have been fighting with weight my entire life. I am an emotional eater and I like me when I am slim then get down and start hating when I gain. I’ve read your thoughts about how you’ve always been in the same body and we only have one so we have to love it. Our bodies do so much for us. The article really made me think in a more positive light. Congrats about the baby!!! We have three and what a joy.
