Wait, What Weigh In?

21 Comments 2032 views

I totally forgot to weigh in this morning. It didn’t even occur to me until about an hour ago.

I’m considering this a TOTAL Non Scale Victory (NSV)!

Pun intended. :)

It wasn’t a conscious decision to avoid the scale. I wasn’t preoccupied with the number after the holiday weekend. I didn’t even think about.

How nice would it be if we never thought about?

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

That’s great! I’m so happy for you! I have to admit, I’m not there yet in terms of not thinking about it, but I am there in terms of not doing it every day. I think it was key for me that I move it from my bathroom floor to under my bed. I still do it every few days, but it’s not looking at me & daring me to step on every time I go to the bathroom.

I had a non food victory (what is a non scale victory?) last week. For the first time in my life, I forgot to eat lunch. I just got too busy with my daughter and preparing for the weekend away, that I just plum forgot & didn’t realize until 5 PM. I used to joke that I don’t understand people who “forget” to eat, b/c I could never do that (b/c I love eating so much!) I call it a “victory” not b/c I missed the calories, etc., but b/c my whole life sometimes seems to be thinking about what I’m going to eat, and eating it. Whether healthy or not. I go to bed thinking about what I’ll eat the next day (whether I’m planning to eat really healthy, or looking forward to a pizza party), and wake up thinking about what I’ll eat all that day. So, I went that many hours without thinking about food at all :) A victory :)

Glad you went so long w/o thinking about the scale!

That is so great. And I admit, I LOL at the “non scale victory”. Have a great Thursday.

Shelley – When you are trying to lose weight it sometimes seems that the only way we measure success is by the scale. A NSV is shorthand for any victory on the journey that isn’t associated with a lower number. SO in essence your non food victory is also a NSV. At least in the way I think of it. NSV is old shorthand I used to see on the WW message boards all the time.

I love it! I wish I could just forget the scale too. I’ve been avoiding it lately. Frankly I am just tired of it bringing me down.

I made a conscious decision to stop weighing myself a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been struggling to stay at my low weight and it’s not related to anything I’m doing or not doing, so I decided to stop torturing myself. I can tell how much I weigh by how my clothes fit. However, I can honestly say that I have been tempted to jump on “just to see” but so far have resisted.

So not there yet but getting closer!!

I would love to be at that point *looks down* but sadly I have a loooong way to go. Congrats to you though, that’s awesome!

Roni, this is totally off topic but I have to tell you. Every time I come to your blog, that Tough Mudder picture of the guy holding his hand up totally freaks me out!!!! I’m not sure why, but I always try to scroll up as quickly as I can!!!
Anyway, congrats on the forgetting to weigh in! I think it just shows the balance in your life. Yeah for you! I’m always in awe of people who say, “Oh, I forgot to eat.” If only!!!!! :-D

I had to laugh at the picture. It was the best! What a great way to remind myself that I shouldn’t obsess so much about my weight from day to day!

I can honestly say I rarely (I’m not going to say never) think about it anymore. I haven’t weighed myself since the first week of January. I’m going by how I feel and how my clothes fit. It’s awesome and SOOOOOO freeing!

You are an inspiration. I used the roca labs diet and I do not think I would be strong enough to lose weight on my own without an aid. Congrats!!!!!!!!

Its good to weigh in to be aware of how much we gain and how much we lost so that we have a starting point.

When I first started my Roca Labs program, I admit I weigh myself everyday. LOL. I obviously didn’t notice any difference on the numbers until after a few days of my daily weigh in. I was pretty excited!
