Tough Mudder BadgeHappy Mother’s Day fellow Moms!

I have SO much to tell you but it’s late and I spend all my time video editing. That’s right. I’ve got it! I don’t think I’ve every been asked for anything more than this video. It’s cracking me up!

SO…

Without further ado..

Now… let me say this… It was AWESOME!

A fun, confidence building, physical, mental experience of a lifetime.

I attempted all obstacles across the (approximate) 12.5 mile run…

  1. Kiss of Mud: Completed.
  2. Arctic Enema: Competed.
  3. High Stepping: Completed.
  4. Berlin Walls #1: Completed with hoist help.
  5. Death March: Completed.
  6. Trench Warfare: Completed.
  7. Fire Walker: Completed.
  8. Devil’s Beard: Completed with help from fellow mudders holding the rope.
  9. Log Bog Jog: Completed.
  10. Hold Your Wood: Completed.
  11. Spider’s Web: Completed with help from fellow mudders holding the rope.
  12. Walk the Plank: Completed after a slight freak out :)
  13. Crawl Under: Completed (not sure if it’s considered an obstacle)
  14. Everest: Completed with help at the top.
  15. Electric Eel: Completed with a few screams.
  16. Berlin Walls #2: Completed with hoist help.
  17. Funky Monkey: ALMOST completed! Slipped out of my gloves 3/4 of the way across.
  18. Mud Mile: Completed.
  19. Boa Constrictor: Completed.
  20. Mystery Obstacle – The Rings: Attempted.
  21. Twinkle Toes: Completed.
  22. Electroshock Therapy: Completed with a few screams.

Wow. I think I still have to let that all sink in. I can’t believe I did it.

I FREAKIN’ DID IT!

Curious how I trained for the event? Click here!

I’ll be honest I’m not super interested in a Tough Mudder, but after seeing your mini-team I think it would be something really cool to do with a few friends. Not only do you need help to actually complete some of the challenges, but you can keep each other motivated and laugh about some of the challenges :)

    AWESOME JOB!

Congrats!!! I just watched your video with my 5 year old son before he headed to the bus. He wanted to know if I wanted to run it next time… ummm NO WAY IN HELL! I was exhausted just watching you! But he was having fun coming up with other torturous ideas for additional stations.

  • http://leaniepi.com Eileen

Congratulations!!!! My friend’s husband’s picture is up on facebook as he goes through something that was shocking him. Umm…that looked painful. It was great to see how everyone was working together!

  • Mehgann

I’m so impressed! Well done, lady. :)

  • Kim

    Roni-

I won’t lie. I cried at the end of your video. Not a little, but full on sobbed. I’m so proud of you. You trained your a** off and did it. I want to be a Tough Mudder too. I hope to tackle this obstacle next year. I’m terrifed of heights and small spaces so I will be training like crazy for overcoming those mental obstacles. Way to go lady. You rocked it.

  • http://lifebycassie.blogspot.com Cassie

OMG girl, you are awesome! How freakin amazing is that! I love the video, thank you for sharing you tough mother!

  • Tina

I logged in here all weekend waiting for this update! CONGRATULATIONS! I freaked out too just watching the video of you guys having to jump! And what the heck are the eels and the shock therapy obstacles!?!? lol! So scary! But the whole thing looked like a total BLAST! I bet you’re hooked now.

  • BigTickles

I cried for you too at the end. I felt the mental workout. That was so awesome. YOU ROCK!!

  • http://bbubblyb.blogspot.com dawn

Great job, I couldn’t see doing this alone but with a few friends it looks like a lot of fun :)

  • http://onecrazygroup.blogspot.com Kathren M

    Congrats!!! Awesome job Roni! :)

  • Nicole

    Way to go, Roni!

Walk the plank was my favorite obstacle; I didn’t even look before I jumped but what a rush that was! I love how you encouraged the girl next to you to jump with you–random encouragement from other Mudders that you don’t even know is honestly one of the best parts of the race.

From the bits of video you showed, your course looked a LOT less muddy than OH–but a friend who did both said PA had more hills, and I’m sure it was just as tough!

  • Laura James

That looks freakin awesome! I am so signing up for 2013 in Sydney! It’s too late for this year =( THIS WILL BE MY GOAL!! yay.
You did such a great job. Do you feel like you did enough training? Did you start training for it early enough etc

  • http://reamesramblings.com GLR

Very cool!! Congrats!!!!! I’d love to do one of these with my hubs.
Just curious, how long did it take to finish?

  • Lou-Anne

Congrats! How scratched up are you?

  • http://ronisweigh.com roni

ProfD – I may go again this year! There’s events all over the place!

  • http://ronisweigh.com roni

Amy – I did really get shocked! It wasn’t as bad as my screams let on. lol So much so I am considering doing it again!

  • http://ronisweigh.com roni

Laura – I can honestly say I felt totally ready going through it. 2 months was a good amount of time.

  • http://ronisweigh.com roni

GLR – It took us about 4:45 they say the average is 3 hours but we pretty much stayed with our group. Met a few people who started after us and some started before. Time was pretty much not a concern for anyone.

  • http://ronisweigh.com roni

Lou-Anne – My elbows and knees have a few bruises but nothing to cry about. :)

  • Tina

OMG I just looked up tough mudder “electro shock and eel” on youtube… that looks painful! Hilarious to watch though.
PS: I also wanted to mention that I thought it was so sweet when you offered the girl to jump together! Shows the motivation everyone must have been feeding off from one another.

  • Lori

A big hats off to you! What an accomplishment! Glad to see the allergies did not stop you. RONI (&CREW) ROCK!!!!!!!!

  • Rene

Congrats Roni! I’m so proud of you! You rock!

  • Cindy

Super congratulations to you, Roni! So glad you were able to video it!
I’ve wanted to do this for a while now but I always thought you have to be a runner – like run from obstacle to obstacle. But it looks like there are many people walking between obstacles. I wonder if it’s possible/OK to just walk fast?

  • http://ronisweigh.com roni

Totally! Many people were walking. There’s was no time or clock involved. I’d just recommend starting earlier as I think there is a cut off so if you start in a later wave you may run out of time. But to give you an idea I’m pretty sure the first wave was 8AM, I started at noon, the cut off was you needed to be halfway by 3PM, I think.

  • http://www.nutmegnotebook.com Tami @Nutmeg Notebook

Congratulations Roni! That is one of the craziest things I have seen lately.

  • Jo Bridge

CONGRATULATIONS! What an amazing accomplishment :-D Just a liiiittle bit crazy but so much fun to watch. You did brilliantly! Much respect from the UK.

  • http://fitnwoodbine.blogspot.com Teresa @ fitnwoodbine.blogspot.com

  • http://www.getfitwithgreg.com Greg Barth

How cool! I am doing the Somerset, WI one this Saturday. I am scared and excited! Can’t wait. Nice job on completing pretty much all of the obstacles!

  • http://www.itsmevsme.com Thea @ It’s Me Vs. Me

Oh my gosh, that’s NUTS!! Dave and I have talked about doing them before. He watched the video with me and now he REALLY wants to do one. The kids were watching, too, and Emma started chanting “Do it! Do it! Do it!” when you were standing on Walk the Plank.

  • Angela

That was so much fun to watch! Good for you!

  • http://successalongtheweigh.blogspot.com/ The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh

I was on vacation when you posted this so I’m late to the party but LOVED the video! You were probably the happiest tough mudder there!

  • Lara Gustafson

Hi Ronnie. That is quite an accomplishment I am sure. I bet you felt so overwhelmed with excitement that you completed it. I have a friend who is doing it in Vancouver, BC. I am going to do it in Calgary when it is here in 2013. Since your posting of the Mudder I was pleased to see that they do it in Canada as well. You are an inspiration and because of you I am doing it as well. I was wondering what you used to take pics while on the Tough Mudder? Any suggestions? Thank you for your time. Lara

  • http://ronisweigh.com roni
  • Abigail

congratulations! I did the Beaver Creek one 2 weeks ago and loved it. TOTALLY out of my comfort zone but signing up for it in March forced me to lose 20 lbs and work out more than I ever have in my life!

  • Candice

So Roni I’m curious, what shoes do you wear for the mud events. I would think you wouldn’t want to ruin your good running shoes. Interested in doing one of these events, but not sure what to wear? Thanks for all that you do, the blog(s) are great!

  • http://ronisweigh.com roni

Candice – I actually wore just an old pair of running shoes. I’d recommend form fitting clothes. You get wet and muddy and you don’t want stuff hanging off you. It gets heavy! I was able to salvage the clothes but the shoes are gone. They actually clean them up and donate them after the event.
