An 8 Mile Run, 6 Hour Drive Sensational Sunday!

15 Comments 1770 views

My morning started with this…

Chart from Nike+

I was really nervous about this run for some reason. I haven’t really covered this type of distance alone in quite some time. So I downloaded a few podcasts to listen to and it helped me find a zone. I think I may give up music in lieu of some NPR’s Fresh Air.

3 episodes and I’m a sweaty mess who just ran 8 miles!

After the run I made breakfast for goofball 1…

Goofball 2…

And myself.

It was an egg morning all around. :)

After breakfast I piled the boys in the car and we headed to PA for my nieces birthday.

It was a 3 hour drive there. We needed rations.

Homemade Microwave popcorn

My niece turned 11. She was born 1 month before I got married.

She makes me feel OLD! In a good, fascinating kind of way. It’s amazing watching kids grow.

The party was fun. It was nice to relax and just hang out.

Here’s Little Bean and I sharing some cake.

He was getting so tired.

We climbed back in the car and drove the 3 hours home.

Dinner was waffles and broccoli.

Don’t ask. lol

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

I am also thinking of giving up music, though it got me through my first half marathon, I think I need to wean myself off of it. I tried with an audio book but I think I’ll try podcasts, too. Most likely, it’s that nothing can make a treadmill exciting and I should probably just run outdoors but I can’t always do that.

Roni, I gotta tell you, I think you’re such an awesome mom. You’re an encouragemnet to other women who are trying to balance family life and a career. Personally, I’m at the young *wink* grandma stage but I appreciate seeing a mom that really enjoys her kids (even when you don’t) and has a true relationship with them. Keep being the wonderful woman you are…delightfully human and “real”, thanks for sharing your journey with us! PS. I really enjoy your “Sensational Sunday” pics! It’s amazing to me every week just how much you get done in a day! And I even felt older when Evan turned ONE, where the heck did this last year go?!!?

Looks like a fun day. Hopefully I can run 8 miles one day too! I would recommend the podcast “This American Life” by NPR. It’s excellent and makes my 1 hour drive to uni go so quickly. You should check it out!

Sarah – When I can’t run outdoors I find something else to do. I just can’t bring myself to run on that thing! I hate the treadmill more than I like to run, I guess. Does that make sense? lol

Thank you so much DJ! And I’ve been saying this past year was the FASTED of my life. I really don’t know what happened! One minute I was pregnant the next I was cutting the cake at his 1st birthday. The sad thing is I have a feeling it’s only going to get faster.

Looks like you had an exhausting yet kick butt weekend! Hey, I’m down with odd food combos. Sometimes 2 things that just don’t typically go together sound really good! Hope you’re ready for an awesome week!

I am so happy to see Little Bean is still rear facing!! Studies show it is best for kids to stay rear facing long past when guidelines say they can turn forward facing at one year.My youngest is 10 months and I plan on leaving her rear-facing for a very long time.
Your breakfast sandwich looks.so.good. That pic of you holding Little Bean by the cake is fantastic, you look so happy!

The ladies of The Because Show are hilarious…I would highly recommend their podcast. Focus on the Family puts out some pretty good ones too, and there’s always the Nutrition Diva for quick tips.

I love listening to NPR podcasts when I run too! Sometimes I just need to lose myself in the story and not concentrate so much on the running. In addition to Fresh Air, I recommend checking out This American Life and Radio Lab if you haven’t already.

I am a new runner and a treadmill runner. I actually watch YouTube videos of all my weightloss vloggers. At home I watch on my TV and at work on my iPhone. I actually end up listening more then watching but I love it as I keep up with my peeps.

Man oh man my hat is still off to you for running in that cold. It was a solid 88 degrees here in Atlanta today.
Way to go on the 8 miles!!!
