One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

A Lazy Saturday Post

Just a quick note today. I’m having a weird day and I thought taking a minute to write would inspire me a bit.

I woke up at 6AM to run 5 miles with a friend.

It was awesome! Warm (45 degrees) and a slight rain. We had fun chatting and jogging. It’s just a great way to start the day!

When I got home I tried to "fix" my computer that didn’t need fixing at all. Apparently we had a few surges of power from a storm last night and it tripped some circuits. My laptop was plugged into one and I thought the battery was fried. Thankfully, it wasn’t.

I had a mini heart attack making me realize how dependent I really am on it.

For lunch I had some homemade chicken noodle soup and a strange sandwich.

Yup, those be beets in there. I have no idea what possessed me to open a can of beets but I’m glad I did. Delicious! I’ll post more details about the sandwich on GreenLiteBites tonight.

Now, well, now I’m being lazy and loving it. The baby is napping. The kid is watching TV. And The Husband is, yup you guessed it, SLEEPING.

We have a birthday party to get to this afternoon and then I have lots of work to catch up on.

  • Did I tell you Carla and I are co-authoring a book? No details yet but we are working with an agent and just submitted our sample chapter. I’m so excited and I love working on something WITH someone. I miss collaborating so much.
  • I’m also working on a newsletter of sorts for all my sites. Kind of like a digest that would go out every month or so with my best posts and recipes. I know not everyone wants to subscribe via RSS and get a daily email so I thought this would be a fun way to share my content without bombarding inboxes. Would love your thoughts.
  • Over on Toddler Times I’m already having fun. Yesterday I posted a photo journal of Little Bean eating oatmeal with a spoon. Yup, a spoon. It may sound boring but he’s just so fun to photograph and caption. The expressions on his face are priceless. Click here to see them.
  • I’m on a bit of sandwichy kick on GreenLiteBites, yesterday I posted a quesadilla idea and tonight I’ll post the beet sandwich. I’m starting to get inspired again. I just needed to experiment with a few things for myself.

Ok, that’s all I have today. Like I said, just a post to break up my Saturday. Looks like both husband and baby are now up and OF COURSE he wants to go out for lunch now that he slept till noon. *eye roll* I already ate so he can fend for himself. ;)

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Hi Roni! Thanks for your reply last week about the tough mudder training, much appreciated! I have an idea that I wanted to share with you about your newsletter. I was wondering if you would email me… I’m at alyssa[dot]cantarutti[at]gmail[dotcom]. Thanks! Alyssa

Beets and Carla – both things I highly approve of! Seriously though, that sandwich looks fabulously delicious…

    Hi Roni,

I live in New Zealand (originally from Scotland) and the beetroot in sandwiches is very common here. McDonalds even do a kiwi burger that has slices of beetroot and an egg in it.

First time commenting, so thanks for the amazing blog.

Way to start your Saturday! Can’t beat a 5 mile run. A book? I can’t wait to hear more details.

I tried Beet Juice the other day… oh my is all I could say.

Good for you for that early morning run! And 45 is WARM?! HA! Here in Atlanta, I’d be whining for days about 45. We’ve been in the 50’s and 60’s most of the “winter” ;)

I’m not sure where to leave this comment, but I just wanted to say thank you so much for you posts on bathing suits in the past. Last weekend I sat on the bleachers as my husband and two toddlers played at the local pool and the entire time I was regretting not being in there with them and I kept thinking of your posts. So yesterday, I sucked it up and put on my swimsuit and went and had a blast!!! I haven’t been in a swimsuit in our town in 14 years and I still have 60 lbs until goal, but whatever, my kids are growing up too fast to wait until I hit goal:) Thank you for inspiring me to just do it!
