I only have a minute tonight. Tomorrow is an early morning workout day but I couldn’t go to bed without sharing…

1. My Weigh in

weigh in

I was shocked to see the 150. Lowest since getting pregnant. Only 5 pounds to go to pre-pregnancy weight and I’m not even that concerned about getting there anymore. Apparently NOT dieting works for me now. There’s that A-Ha moment again!

2. My Hot Cocoa Obsession

Melissa asked about my cocoa in yesterday’s post and I must confess this is a new habit I’m obsessed with at the moment. I make a cup of regular Swiss Miss cocoa in the Keurig. It’s 70 calories, I think. I then add 1 tbsp of dark cocoa powder making it rich and indulgent.

Sometimes it’s the little things right? I’m off to make it now and then head to bed. It helps as I watch The Husband down his nightly bag of chips. *eye roll*

In other news…

  1. Congrats on the fabulous weigh-in! Looks like you’re definitely finding what works for you. I wish the not dieting worked for me! I find I that I eat far too many “rare” treats when I’m not tracking food intake, but I guess I should be grateful that my dieting is working, though. I hope some day to be at the point where I can go periods of time without tracking and still maintain my weight.

Way to go! Your are such an inspiration and I so look forward to your daily posts. Have another great week.

  4. Great weigh in! I am SO looking forward to the weekend praying that my sense of smell returns by then so we can replicate Ghirardelli’s “drinking chocolate” we had in Chicago. Not quite 70 calories but dang after the week I’ve had, I need it! I’m going to try your version too so I can fit it into my calories on occasion!

So happy you are in tune with you body Roni, it really is a freeing feeling because you are in control not a diet plan!

For those of you that can diet without it driving you nuts, more power to you, I know those days are gone for me.

  6. Laura says:

  8. I’ve been on a cocoa kick too lately! I go for the Nestle’s fat free, I think it is. Only 20 calories. I add just a bit of milk to make it richer. Right now we are using almond milk in our house since my husband is off animal products. The bad news is that my usual stores don’t carry this product. So I have to plan ahead for when I’m in an other part of town.

I just found your blog, and I love it! I too, am a mom on a journey. I admire your courage to post a pic of your weight. I’m not quite there yet. In fact the other night, my husband walked in to the room right when I stepped on the scale. I jumped off immediately. I also just started a blog (Healthy…with a side of ranch). Hopefully soon, I’ll have the courage to post a picture similar to yours!

  10. Yay on the great weigh in Roni…and the ah, ha moment!!! Hope the momentum continues and today is equally as good!

  11. Congrats on the great weigh in!

  12. Annalisa says:

Good job on the weigh-in! I hate/love how when I am expecting the same number, the scale budges down.

Have you made your own cocoa? It’s 2tbsp. of cocoa (hershey dark or scharfenberger – spelling?) w/ 2 tbsp. sugar. Sometimes I change the ratio or use a different sweetener like maple syrup or agave.

Lastly, I finished reading a book called Child of Mine by Statler – it’s all about creating healthy eating habits in children. I had some great take aways about giving kids control and not stressing about how much and what they eat. Like you said, kids go through phases so we shouldn’t stress. It was pretty good and i’m really hoping my baby girl can grow up without food issues.

  13. SO SO glad to hear about your awesome weigh-in. Even happier that it came just by making good healthy choices and you’ve found what truly works for YOU!! :)

Annnnnnnnd…now I want a dark hot chocolate a la Keurig!! Off to make one of my own! :-)

  14. Paula says:

I am so happy for you. I wish not dieting worked for me like that! Have a great day tomorrow. After all it is FRIDAY!!!

  15. LG says:

Nice work on the weigh in. I really need to stop counting calories…it’s not serving me anymore.

  16. Rachel says:

    Roni,
Good job on the weigh-in! I know you’ve mentioned that you like to choose whole foods over processed foods, so… why not go natural on the cocoa? I, too, love cocoa and have it frequently as a nightly “treat”. I also use the dark cocoa powder. I just use real milk that I microwave first, and then I add a little stevia (and sometimes a dash of vanilla). I have bought the instant “diet” stuff, but honestly, for 100 calories, I’d rather just have the “real” stuff over the processed. I also get more for my nutrition buck this way with an added protein kick! : ) (By the way, this is also a great post-workout drink!)

Congrats on the weigh in success, I swear I only just found this blog but our blog taglines are eerily similar.
