Wednesday Weigh In and a Winner
It’s a Bullet List kind of night. Revenge is on and I have to wrap this baby up!

- Weigh in is what it is. I’m down from last week and still holding steady since September WHICH is a total win as post-holidays I’m where I was pre-holidays. Check out my weight progress page. I finally updated it. Still down almost 25 pounds since baby #2. I’m about 5 lbs away from my Weight Watchers goal and 10 lbs up from my average pre-pregnancy weight BUT I’m seriously rocking the workouts (today I did spinning for the first time in over 3 years! I weight train 2-3 times a week and I take at least 1 cardio class or long run a week) I feel greeeeat! <– sorry Tony the Tiger just snuck out of me on that one.
- That’s It Fruit bars are going to Dina. I used the Pick Giveaway plugin to select the winner. Congrats Dina!
- I posted a cute Baby vs. Cat picture for Wordless Wednesday on Baby’s First year. It cracks me up every time I see. Little Bean is completely obsessed with Irish and she’s pretty indifferent about him.
- The Kale salad I mentioned yesterday is up on GreenLiteBites. I ate the leftovers today and it was awesome!
That’s about it for me today. Tomorrow I have a Doc appointment and Little Bean will be spending his first day in a home daycare. It’s a test for both of us.
ok, I’m out. It’s Revenge, bed and an early class at the gym!

What's Cooking in my kitchen?

Sometimes I'll make something and then get obsessed, making it over and over and over again. It happened twice last week. First with The Most Amazing Bowl of Oatmeal EVER! I now have to stop myself from eating it every single morning. I decided to make a deal with myself [...] -
Four years ago I posted a photo journal of "The Toddler" and I making pizza. FOUR YEARS AGO! Click here to see it. Honestly, it's blowing my mind for 2 reasons. 1.) I can't believe how old my baby is and 2.) I can't believe I get to do it all over again with [...] -
I'm not kidding. I could not believe how good this was. A warm bowl of heaven. The combination of banana and chocolate chips is a favorite of mine. Add in just a touch of peanut butter and it's the perfect trifecta. Not only did it taste amazing, it filled me [...] -
I can't say enough good things about this book. The author doesn't hit you over the head with stead fast rules or try to sell some new catch phrase approach -- if I hear the phrase baby-led weaning one more time my head is going to explode -- she simple shares her thoughts, experiences and [...] -
I've recently discovered the amazing combination of cheese and dried cherries. I know, it sounds weird, but seriously… good! The other day I smeared some Laughing Cow Light Swiss on Cucumber slices and then topped with a cherry. It was a fun, sweet twist on standard cheese and crackers. Well, cheese [...] -
If I was a good blogger this idea would have been published BEFORE the Super Bowl not during it. I made these today to have a little fun. Surprisingly, The Husband liked them even though he didn't eat more than one. Why? Because he's strange like [...] -
If you read my weight loss blog you know I'm battling a bit of back and neck pain right now. I'm starting to feel a little better but those first few days where rough. Being the head chef of the household, this meant we ordered in a couple of times. I'm [...] -
I'm LOVING Pinterest! I can just scroll all day long looking at food photo after food photo. I wish I had more time to peruse! (I'm RoniNoone there by the way?) The other day I pinned a Portabello Mushroom pizza and was immediately inspired. It's such a simple idea and so light. [...] -
The other day I found myself craving an Orange Julius. Are they as popular as I think they are? Growing up we had an Orange Julius at our local mall. It was always a treat for us at the end of a family shopping trip. Once I was old enough to be [...] -
So I'm a little breakfast nutty at the moment. Little Bean LOVES eggs and I find myself cooking them more and more. This morning I decided to go super light (after last nights chocolate overload) and it was totally satisfying for just over 100 calories! The trick to making [...] -
A few weeks ago I saw Chef Michael Simon make a raw kale salad on The Chew. He sliced beets up real thin and cut the kale into ribbons. Then made a vinaigrette out of red wine vinegar and olive oil. I was immediately intrigued. So far I've only [...] -
I've had this idea for a quick creamy chicken dish for a few days now. It was time to give it a shot. The whole family LOVED it. I'm not joking. The only complaint came from Little Guy who declared his hate of mushrooms yet again BUT he ate everything around them. Fine [...] -
I made this on a total whim yesterday as I had leftover avocado after feeding the baby and leftover Spaghetti squash cooked from the weekend. I roasted the squash to serve with my Chicken tips instead of potatoes and it was AMAZING! Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. So I'm sitting there staring [...] -
It's post holiday season. You know what that means? Leftover Crescent rolls to experiment with! Every year for Thanksgiving I buy a few canisters. It's the only time I do as I can't be trusted around them. Let's just say I'd beat you in the How-Many-Crescent-Rolls-Can-You-Eat-In-One-Sitting game and leave [...] -
Last week the kids and I tried parsnips for the first time and I've made them 3 times since. I wanted to figure out the best way to roast them. Yeah, that's it, the best way to roast them. You'll buy that right? Right? The truth is, I'm obsessed. I found myself [...] -
Yesterday just felt like a good day to stuff an acorn squash. I had one sitting on my counter for quite some time and it was just begging to be cooked. Since both husband and child don't like it I made a solo meal just for me and, well, it was DELICIOUS! [...] -
I bought a fennel bulb on a whim for the holidays not knowing quite what I would do with it. Of course I forgot about until yesterday when I was rummaging through the fridge trying to figure out what I wanted to make for breakfast. I pulled it out and stared [...] -
I probably should have warned you I was taking a holiday hiatus. I've been soaking up every moment of family time imaginable these last few days, leaving no time for anything else. Not even blogging! Shocking I know. ;) So I return not with a new recipe, per se, but to [...] -
Here's a quick idea for when you find yourself with a spaghetti squash but don't quite know what to do with it. Come on. Admit it. That's happened to you too. It's sure happened to me! I roasted this squash on Sunday... [...] -
I'm not sure if this will be a crowd pleaser, but I liked it and thought I'd share in hopes it inspires you to have some fun with kale. I loved the combination of sweet pear, earthy kale, salty bacon bits and creamy hummus. The only issue with the wrap was [...] -
I'm going on day 2 of counting Weight Watcher Points and I'm already inspired to come up with light, healthy meals for myself. It's like I needed the constraint of points to motivate me. Isn't that weird? Anyway, all morning I was brainstorming what to make for lunch. I wanted something flavorful [...] -
I have a friend who patiently cleaned, peeled and cubed a fresh pumpkin and then selflessly gave me some. Scratch that, a TON! I would have never even thought of doing something like that! But now that I have it in my fridge the ideas are flowing. First, I roasted some [...] -
CHRISTMAS COOKIES! YAY! Sorry. I'm so excited! Little Guy and I had tons of fun making and decorating cookies today. It may just be my favorite part of the holiday season. I loved it when I was a kid and now I get to do it with my own kids. [...] -
This may be my simplest idea yet, but it was so tasty and satisfying I had to share. Plus you guys know I'm a Laughing Cow Community Leader so I'm all about sharing fun ways to use their products. You guys may also know how I feel about pausing and making [...] -
I made this on Thursday. THURSDAY! I hate when I can't post something I've eaten within 24 hours. It just bugs me. Not sure why, it really doesn't matter when I post it, does it? Anyway, I did whip this up to cure a pizza craving and I couldn't be happier. [...]

I put baby girl in the gym daycare today for an hour for the first time… knowing Im going back to work in two weeks and she will be in daycare 2-3 days a week…uhhhh!
Congrats on the exercise front! Sometimes its the nonscale victories that need to take center stage sometimes :)

I just looked at your weight progress page. You’ve done great.
I hope I can do as well over the next 17 months, as I try to lose 5 pounds a month by age 70.
Great job Roni! I hope you enjoy class! Off to check out the other links.
I hope Little Bean loves daycare! We have always used in-home daycares and we currently have one that we LOVE. It is a great feeling to find someone you know will treat your child well!
I was driving to work today and all of a sudden I thought,
I haven’t made Roni’s meatballs and sauce in a while! Have to do it soon…they are so good!
I am new to your blog, but just curious isn’t that a pretty low weight for someone at your height? What is your goal?
my goal is 149.
range for medium frame with my height.. 139-153
But honestly I don’t sweat the details anymore. Check out my story for a bit more about where I’ve come from…

Thanks for commenting! :)
Nice Tony the Tiger :) I never got into spinning – I tried it a few times but couldn’t really enjoy it. That being said, I like actual bike riding – just rode my bike across Milan today in 38F weather – brrr! ;)
OMG…the pictures of Little Bean and the kitty are hilarious!!! I’m also anxious to try your kale recipe. I’ve been a little obsessed with kale lately, and am always on the hunt for new ways to serve it. Have a great Thursday Roni!!!
5 pounds away from your WW goal is awesome! I am interested in trying your kale salad. I have a tough time figuring out how to work in kale in anything other than juicing.
Keep up the good work!
I’m curious if you “eat” your activity points. The old WW points system let you “trade in” your activity points for extra food points for the day. I’ll be honest and say I don’t know what the new WWP plan endorses…I think it’s optional.
Your exercise schedule is admirable! Your activity points would be through the roof!
I don’t track them. Never did. Instead I give myself a little leeway. If I’m hungry at the end of the day and ate all my points, I will go over a point or two. I find, for me the best balance is to just use the points as a loose guide. It helps me make lighter meal and snack choices. I try really hard not to get to OCD about it. When I get stuck on the details it always tends to backfire for me.
Hi Roni what would you say has been your most effective strategy at weight loss? I left a comment on another one of your posts as well. Please email me, I’d love to share your tips and stories on weightlossmother. You’re doing GREAT!
good luck with the next 5lbs you wish to lose to get to your weight watchers goal weight! If you’d like a tip to increase fat burning – when you do your weights, control the tempo of the lift so it takes you 3 seconds to contract the muscle and 3 seconds to relax the muscle (on the way down). This has shown to triple growth hormone levels – which will speed up fat burning significantly, as opposed to lifting at a normal tempo of approx 1 second up and down. If you try this you will see results very quickly. Great read btw! :)
Awesome job roni! I’m on my way towards my weight loss goal and I can sympatize with you. It’s tough work but man is it worth it. Keep it up.
