Note to Self…

WHAT is with the food/unwind connection? Listen, you do NOT need to eat to relax at the end of the day. This habit needs to stop. And be honest, it’s all habit. You aren’t hungry. You aren’t thirsty. You are simply looking for some reward for wrapping up the day and getting the kids in bed.

Here’s the thing, the “reward” doesn’t need to be a mindless munching out of the pantry. It can be a bath or a cup of tea or heck, go to BED! You can use the sleep!

P.S. Good job on the Baby Food Adventure today! Of course it makes you feel good when he eats good. Remember… treat yourself with the same love and respect. You deserve it as much as he does.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Roni – I messed up my weekly challenge and ate after 7 pm tonight. I hate losing challenges and I keep thinking to myself….was I really even hungry. UGG! Such a battle this nighttime thing! Glad I am not alone in this.
I got your recipe book and cannot wait to try your awesome recipes. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!

    Hey Roni
    This is all true
I find that if I go to bed with a little bit of hunger
knowing that I ate my balanced meals and healthy snacks during the day- I lose weight. I remember hearing this from Bob Greene on Oprah to this woman who said “I eat right all the time but I am not losing?!!” and he said well you will have to feel hunger as a natural part of weightloss. I made the connection right there and did end of losing weight. This came back to me a couple months ago
because I have new pregnancy weight to lose and I said “Oh yeah it is okay to feel hunger. Its a natural feeling. I will eat again its not the end of the world. It is a sign that your body will burn fat for a short time.” I have lost twenty pounds since then. I am still breastfeeding and eating healthily I am just not giving in the stuff my face callings of the night. Nor my sweet tooth. Hope this helps, your words always help me :)

Okay, I don’t think I’ve ever commented on your blog before even though I’ve been reading for a while. But really this is THE very thing that keeps me overweight. I never could quite find a term for this kind of eating. I would say I was a stress eater but but really it’s the “food/unwind connection”. This how I eat every night and I haven’t been able to stop it! Not for the long term anyway. I know I need a replacement for it, I’m going to start praying and searching for that replacement. Something has to change. Thank you so much for sharing!!

I don’t remember if I’ve mentioned this before, but try talking to your food. Seriously, it sounds silly. Say to your food, “I can eat you, or I can choose to get closer to my goal.” Then if you eat it, you HAVE to tell the food “I choose you!!” It kind of sucks when you have to admit to your food that you choose it over your dreams and goals! I do it, and it kind of works. It makes it hard to sneak a handful of this or a mouthful of that! :)

I’m working on the food/celebration connection…you do not have to celebrate with food, you can choose to love and laugh without cake, ice cream, or pizza! (that was MY note to self lol)

My food/unwind happens when I come home from work. I can’t seem to just wait until dinner time. I find I crave something with “crunch” as soon as I walk in the door.

I know I’ve said this before, but Little Bean is SO cute! I can’t stand it lol!
A friend of mine got me hooked on ‘car snacks’, on a long long trip recently. I never eat in the car, but on that trip we (mindlessly) snacked on pretzels, fritos, oreos, and all sorts of crap. Now if I’m in the car more that 45 minutes I want a snack. I need to break that habit stat
