One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

FIGHTING THE FUNK

Fighting the Funk with a Sensational Sunday

16 Comments 2796 views

It’s another Sensational Sunday! These posts have an amazing power to cheer me up. I guess they are my version of a Gratitude Board. The simple act of looking back and reflecting on the day does wonders for the soul. I’m so happy I started this tradition. It’s been 4 years! Can you believe it?!?

Anyway, today started with a new habit.

Then Little Guy and I played a bit on our matching computers.

He gets to use my old macbook. His favorite site? Lego.com of course!

We were joined by someone soon enough…

The admiration Little Bean has for his Big Brother brings a tear to my eye daily.

Breakfast was all over the place. I made myself an omelet rollup with kale instead of spinach.

Little bean had oatmeal with banana, blueberries and full fat greek yogurt.

Note: He’s not feeding himself but I let him experiment with the spoon at the end.

Little Guy had a bowl of frosted mini-wheats.

After breakfast the boys and I got started on the laundry.

Then I hit the gym. There’s a Sunday Body Pump class I’m going to try to make a habit. It’s at 9:30 and I’m hoping to be able to run there (1 mile) workout and then run home. Today I ran out of time so I had to drive but I still squished in the workout and that’s what matters!

I really don’t feel complete unless I get at least 1/2 hour to myself a day in the form of some physical activity. It’s amazing how that habit has really formed over the last few years.

Once I got back it was time for lunch!

Little Guy had a grilled cheese with a side of red peppers and Little Bean had some avocado with applesauce and carrots.

Me? I experimented with a new sandwhich idea.

It was SO good. I hope to share it on GreenLiteBites this week although my pictures didn’t come out that well. I wasn’t feeling the camera today.

UPDATE: I posted it! Click here to check out my Sweet Cinnamon Cheese, Apple and Turkey Sandwich

After lunch Little Bean and I tried on our new back pack carrier.

It was a hand me down from my parents and we loved it! He’s getting a little heavy for a front carrier, especially when hiking.

Knowing I can get the baby in the carrier by myself off we went to the trails. Leaving Dad to winterize the house.

I did not envy him. lol

The boys and I, on the other hand, had a BLAST!

We decided on the blue trail.

The views were awesome!

Someone was REALLY comfortable in his new backpack.

And someone else BEGGED to get in the water.

I let him in when we were headed back and close to the car.

Before we left I checked the map.

1.5 miles on the blue trail and yellow spur. Not bad!

We’ve mapped out our next hike and plan on going further next week weather permitting!

We came back to a beautiful lawn…

and a tired husband.

Little Guy decided to go out and help Dad finish up while Bean and I folded the laundry.

Bean and I also had a snack. Yogurt for him and some leftover Red Pepper Soup with Roasted Spaghetti Squash for me.

This is the 3rd time I’ve made it in as many weeks. I’m obsessed and Little Bean was shocked! ;)

After throwing some butternut in the oven to roast…

and putting Little Bean down to nap, I was ready to relax ALONE. I grabbed a bowl of yogurt, added some blueberries and put my feet up.

With a baby napping and the bigger boys outside I watched the Food Network and dosed of for a short nap. It was divine!

I woke up and got started on dinner. I made a feast!

Guess who’s plate is whos. I’ll give you a hint. The husband is a mashed potato fantatic and I’m the only one who likes pureered butternut squash in the house. Oh! except for Little Bean. ;)

Notice the Brussel Sprouts. I roasted them like this again. My family is obsessed with them right now. We have them twice a week now.

After dinner I cleaned up while the husband finished the folding and Little Guy took a bath.

My last moment with the boys was this.

*happy sigh*

I really had a great day and it was what I need to help fight this funk I’m in. Sorry I’ve been a little distant.

I always have to laugh at how much the baby looks like your husband. I am sure you hear that a lot.

Roni, You said you put Little Bean down for a nap and that picture at the end shows Big Brother reading to Little Bean a goodnight story? Can you really put him down awake and he falls asleep on his own? My grandson is 6 months old and my daughter is having a time with him and his sleeping habits. Love your blog!

I do. I wrote about my baby sleep approach here…
    http://blogs.babble.com/babys-first-year-blog/2011/06/22/how-did-you-get-him-to-sleep-so-well/

Now that’s he’s almost 8 months he goes straight down for both naps and at night.

    Hope that helps her!
