Water is My Friend (Brita Giveaway Post)

221 Comments 10517 views

Last month Carla and I challenged each other to drink more water with the help of Brita. We taunted, nudged and bragged to one another over twitter hoping to remind and inspire everyone who followed along to drink more water.

Here are a few pictures I shared along the way.

I had fun with it (as you can see) but I also took it seriously. Every morning I’d fill my Brita Pitcher and it sat on my counter as a reminder to drink. Every time I passed it I’d take a sip, if not more.

At first I wasn’t used to increased bathroom breaks or the habit of bringing a water bottle with me everywhere I went. I used to be, but times have changed. It took this challenge to remind me that drinking more water simply makes me feel better. Case closed. End of story.

I’m so glad I rediscovered my hydration habit!

Brita not only sponsored our month of H2O banter they also provided me with an extra Brita pitcher and filtered water bottle to giveaway. I can honestly say I love both. The pitcher is now a mainstay on my kitchen counter and the Little Guy fights to use my water bottle for his soccer practices. I love that it has a filter on it so I feel better about filling up at water fountains.

To enter the giveaway leave a comment below. Share you best water tip or confess if you are currently drink too little like I was.

Unfortunately the winner must be from the USA. Sorry International Friends. :(

Oh! and Carla (aka MizFit) actually thinks SHE won. Whatever. Feel free to go over there and humor her. ;)

Working at a desk all day, I always try to get a glass of water in about every hour or so. That way I get most of my water needs for the day out of the way by the time I get home (home being the place I’m least likely to drink water for some reason). It also gives me an excuse to get up and walk around for a couple of minutes when I need to fill up again and take a break from the computer screen.

I know I’m not drinking enough right now. But when I get tired of water, I do like to use some Crystal Lite.

I keep a (full) water bottle at my desk in the office and keep one in my bedroom. That way I have constant reminders to keep on drinking!

I don’t drink enough water and I know this because during a 10 hr work day, sometimes I don’t go to the bathroom once. And if I am drinking something at work, it’s usually soda. I need to shake that up a lot and change my ways!

I DON’T DRINK ENOUGH!!!! My mom has always tried to encourage me to drink more water – I think a Brita pitcher would definitely help.

Love the idea of a Brita! Specifically because it gives you a measured goal – finish the pitcher. Otherwise you may forget and think you drank more than you did!

Way to go in the hydration challenge. I know that I feel better when I drink more water. But not always remembering to do it either!

I TRY my hardest to drink water. Actually, it’s easy while I’m sitting at my desk during the week. I have a cute, pink 27 oz. bottle sitting here, without the lid so it’s quick and easy (not a sportsbottle). I fill it up probably 2-3 times during the day. The weekends are a different story…

I’m a Diet Coke addict (I know, I know… some people consider it right up there with Meth). I am trying to break it but it’s difficult. As it stands, I cannot remember the last time I actually drank a glass of water. Oops. I think this will be a great push.

Sometimes I think I’m hungry, when I’m actually thirsty! I always try to drink a glass of water whenever I wander out into the kitchen

I don’t drink enough water, even though I know I feel so much better when I do. Thanks for the reminder!

Something that has helped me is when I get up in the morning I dring 16 ounces of water, first thing. For whatever reason, it wakes up “all” the systems and gets things going, if you know what I mean.

When I start off the day super-hydrated it then makes it easier for me to maintain the momentum throughout the day.

I stopped buying sodas at home and every now and then I will splurge when I go out and have a diet soda with my meal. I’m a recoving Coke Zero addict. :)

I keep a water bottle at my desk so I can sip all day. I have a Brita and am obsessed with it! My sweet mama has been talking about needing to get over her habit of buying bottled water, and I would LOVE to win this Brita for her :)

I try to always keep a glass of water nearby. If it’s there I’ll drink it… And I drink a ton of water. The filter on the water bottle sounds like a great idea, because like you, I’m a little skeeved out by drinking water from the public water fountains.

I have been feeling drab all week. I bet it’s because I have been too tired and busy to make sure I drink all my water!

    October 28, 2011

I love the filtered, ice cold water! That’s what inspires me to drink more.

I need to drink more water, period. I’m trying not to get sucked back into drinking diet soda. Water is better!

    October 28, 2011

My best tip is to drink from a water bottle instead of a glass… and the bigger the bottle (within reason), the better! Maybe it goes back to the “clean plate club” stuff… but I’m really motivated to finish my bottle. Glasses tend to be smaller so even if I finish it, I’m not getting as much.

    Amber

    October 28, 2011

I’ve really been wanting one of those filtered water bottles and a NEW Brita pitcher!

    Amber

Oh yeah and my best tip to get more water is leave the pitcher on the kitchen counter.

All I drink is water all day, keep my water bottle full. I was drinking tap water but our office just got a water cooler so now I’m enjoying filtered water. At home I don’t get in quite as much but always drink water there too.

Living in South Florida, everyone brings a bottle of water wherever they go which is great. My DS is the one who will remind me to bring his bottle which in turn reminds me to drink more water.

I love water! I am 9 months pregnant and drink water all the time to keep my swelling down. I know water helps me lose weight and try to give my 5-year old daughter as much water as possible. To trick her, I buy sugar-free kool-aid and sometimes give that to her. Although, she loves a tall glass of ice water as much as I do. Another trick I have is order a large ice water from McDonalds. Somehow, water is always better when it comes in a cup with a lid! Love me some water!

    Jennifer M.

    October 28, 2011

I don’t buy soda anymore and have replaced it with water. So that’s good. But I need to drink more! Having this on the counter would be such a great reminder!

    October 28, 2011

Another Diet Coke addict here. When I remember to drink my water I really love it. I’d probably be able to do better on my workouts if I drank more water first, instead of chugging it during & giving myself a stomach ache!
I love the idea of keeping it on the counter to monitor! My grandpa used to do this–he got a little freaked out the day my mom kept refilling it every time he was out of the room!!! ;)

    Barbara

I been having a hard time with water too.
If its out of sight then its out of mind.
This would be a great idea.

Right now I have a BIG glass that I fill up a few times during the day so I always have water in front of me during the work day. But the weekend I really need to be better. I think I need a big water bottle to use on the weekend.

I drink LOTS of water! Other than my morning coffee, water is just about all I drink. Sometimes I do get tired of just plain water…so, I will add lemon, lime, or orange wedges to it…just to give it a little flavor. It helps get me over the hump! :)

I drink over 3 pints a day. I should drink more, but I’m okay with where I am right now.

    October 28, 2011

I have to make rules for myself to get my water in. I have a 24 oz glass that I must finish before I leave for work. Then I try to drink throughout the day, but I won’t let myself have anything else to drink unless I’ve had at least 64 oz of watere–no coffee, no diet soda, not even Crystal Light.

    October 28, 2011

I struggle with drinking enough water especially at work. I love the idea of filling the pitcher and emptying it being the goal. Great idea!

    Bridget

    October 28, 2011

Alas, I am in a rut of drinking too much coffee and not enough water (sigh). I usually do drink enough – but only if I keep a BIG bottle with me at all times. Glasses of water get spilled (thanks, kids!) and small water bottles get consumed but never replaced. BOO
I have a large brita filter in my fridge, but getting to it is less fun now that i have a “helper” (toddler – see spills, above) and a crawler/climber/explorer (curious 10 month old). I now try to ignore the refrigerator and dish washer at all costs. Keeping a pitcher of filtered water on the counter seems like a good idea – I couldn’t ignore it and it’s less likely to be spilled!
    Thanks for the idea!

    October 28, 2011

I haven’t been drinking as much water as I should. One tip I’ve been trying to use is to make my water “special” so it’s exciting to drink. In the summer I add berries and cucumber to my water pitcher for the extra flavor and color. In the fall and winter I add a squeeze of fresh orange juice. Thanks for the giveaway!

    October 28, 2011

I go through phases where I don’t really want to drink it, but for the most part, I have a water bottle with me at all times. Lately, I’ve been lagging, and need to get back on top of it.

Each morning on the treadmill, I drink at least 26 ounces, have a Diet Coke at work each morning, but then drink water the rest of the day and don’t really keep track. I have a glass that is probably 16 ounces and fill it up periodically throughout the day. I am in the bathroom a lot, so I know I’m getting hydrated! I don’t drink enough at home though – especially at night because I don’t want to be in the bathroom all night! :)

    Rebecca

    October 28, 2011

I constantly have a water bottle on my desk at work. Whenever I finish it I immediately go and fill it up! Kepes me drinking all day!

    October 28, 2011

So, I was just thinking about this just last night actually, when filling my dogs’ water dish. The last time I drank something besides diet soda or beer was…two weeks ago, when I had cereal with a half cup of sugar free coconut milk. Does that even count as drinking?

    That can’t be good.

    October 28, 2011

36 weeks pregnant and I often feel too tired to walk across the hall to fill up my water bottle. Ugg. But the alternative is chugging water at night out of pure thirst and then waking up 3+ times to pee…so there is my motivation!!

    Maggie

    October 28, 2011

I so need to drink more water. I used to be so good when I was working. Now I’ve been a SAHM for 2 years and I just simply forget. Sad excuse I know. I miss how good it felt to be hydrated… I have got to get better.

Water is a vital part of my fitness goals! I have really started increasing my intake on a daily basis and you are right, the bathroom breaks take some getting used to, but the benefits are so worth it! Weight seems to come off easier, my skin is clearer, I just feel better! I have a lousy water bottle that I use for the gym each day right now that leaks, but I am frugal and just have not bought a better one. Winning your drawing would be perfect Roni!

    Lori

    October 28, 2011

I absolutely don’t drink enough water. I’m getting about 4-5 glasses a day, more than my “unhealthy self” did, but I still struggle to get it all in. I will admit, I ABSOLUTELY DO feel better the more water I drink! Thanks for the giveaway!

I really need to get better about drinking water…i think the pitcher and water bottle would really help!

    Amanda

    October 28, 2011

I have a 24 oz water bottle that I fill throughout the day. I have recently been making it a point to drink one full bottle on my way to work and immediately filling it upon arrival. It has been working nicely! Having another (filtered) water bottle and pticher would make it that much easier to keep up and increase my habit!

    Andrea

    October 28, 2011

I always go for some other drink other than water. It would be a great thing to get my taste buds to remember that water is just as good as say . . . diet coke. There, I said it.

    Janice

    October 28, 2011

I like you used to drink a lot of water and have gotten out of the habit. Lately, I make sure I keep a glass of water on my desk at work and at home so I can make sure I am getting something.

I would love to do my own Britta challenge witha new water pitcher if I am the winner.

Thanks for all the inspriation Roni.

I drink water all the time, probably 4 glasses a day but this challenge really made me work to get those 8 glasses in. I think water is delicious! I’m happy to be back on track as well. Thanks Roni & Mizfit!

I totally need this! I don’t drink enough at all (pesky diet coke habit), plus I’d love the pretty purple color! :)

    Karen

    October 28, 2011

I have always had a hard time getting enough water. What helps me is putting a bit of lemon in the water. That way I drink it cold in the hot weather and have hot lemon water in the winter. It also boosts the vitamin C. :)

    Peggy

    October 28, 2011

I haven’t been drinking enough water lately because the ladies room at my job is FAR away from my desk, and I really have to plan out my restroom breaks (lazy excuse I know) But we’ll be moving to a new office soon and the restroom is right across the hall – I can’t wait to be drinking more water! The Brita Pitcher would come in really handy. Thanks for the giveaway Roni!

    Jillian D.

    October 28, 2011

Mine is definitely a confession – I don’t drink enough. I go through cycles where I really think about it and get in enough ounces per day but then it always trails off. Would love the Brita waterbottle – I think it would make it much easier!

    Thanks for the giveaway Roni!

    Denise

    October 28, 2011

I struggle to get in enough water. I recently brought a 1.5L bottle to work and try to make sure I drink it all. I still need more though. I love your purple picture. It’s my favorite color.

After struggling to drink plain water for a long time, I finally realized that its so much more appealing for me with a splash of (naturally) flavored seltzer. So much more enjoyable now which for me equals more water consumption :)

I need to drink more water but when I am at work, I hate the taste of the tap water there! If I had a Brita, it would make it taste better : )

    October 28, 2011

I drink my iced coffee in the AM. I occasionally go to Dunkin Donuts to get a larged iced coffee and then I save the plastic cup. I fill it in the AM with iced coffee I make at home and then re use the cup at work for my water. I take that cup everywhere. It gets filled at least 3 times while at work (that is 96 oz) and then again for my trip home. I continue to drink it when at home along with a bottle or two (16.9 oz) of water more. I am a water a holic. Occasionally during lunch I will have an iced tea w/lemon but other than that it is all water all the time. I am used it to it, it is part of my lifestyle…now only if I could conistently make eating healthly part of my lifestyle I’d be set. I have the water and I have the work out down pat, it is the darn food!

    Corrie

    October 28, 2011

I used to keep a big water jug on my desk (32 ounces) and I’d drink one before lunch and then one after by sipping all day. Now, I work part time and the days I’m home, I don’t drink enough water. Time for me to focus on that!

    Noel

    October 28, 2011

I have been bringing a large bottle of water to work (with the challenge of finishing it before I leave) for a couple of weeks now. I am amazed at how much better my skin is looking!!

    October 28, 2011

I’m now 6 months post baby and am having a hard time losing the baby weight. I’m attributing a lot of this to my lack of drinking water! Coffee, tea, diet soft drinks yes….water…not so much :-( I wouldn’t be able to justify buying a Brita pitcher to my husband (who would just tell me to drink water out of the fridge door)…but having that visual reminder really does help!

    Mary

    October 28, 2011

I don’t drink enough water…I tend to lean towards the diet sodas. This pitcher will definitely help motivate me to drink more water!

    Shelley Donohue

    October 28, 2011

ugh! I have not been drinking enough. But when I do, my secret is a straw cup that I bought at jamba juice. I keep it filled with water at all times, it’s always somewhere around the house where I am. Convenience is the key!

    October 28, 2011

Ever since I had three kidney stone surgeries in an 8 week span last summer I have been trying to drink a lot more water. What I do is have a 20 oz stadium cup with me wherever I go. I even put it buy my beside and drink it when I wake up at night. I try to drink about 4 of them a day.

    Kristi

    October 28, 2011

I need to be better about drinking water! I have no problem drinking coffee and diet coke but I find that my water bottle stays full throughout the day. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a Brita yet. :)

I used to be better at drinking water than I am now. Lately I have been filling a glass as soon as I work-out in the morning. Then I get that first big glass in before the coffee starts. I think that has helped me get in more. I have been wanting a filter pitcher. Please pick me!!

    Erika

    October 28, 2011

I have to drink my water out of a glass (equivalent of 2 glasses) in order to drink more of it…..and I always make sure I have a case of water in my car for when I’m out and about – then I never have an excuse not to. If I’m going to have soda or coffee, I always drink 2 glasses of water for each mug of coffee/can of soda.

    Laura

    October 28, 2011

I have definitely fallen out of the water-drinking habit. :( I agree with you, I feel so much better when I drink more of it!

    Nancy

    October 28, 2011

I love cold water, lots of ice. Drink a large glass before every meal. If hunger hits, always drink a glass of water before eating anything. I have two of the older Brita bottles, use them everyday….

    Kim

    October 28, 2011

water is one of many habits I’m no longer into! Maybe water might be a baby step for me. I used to drink a 48 oz jug of water everyday..me & my coworker both had the same jug & would race/encourage/badger each other to finish before the end of the day!

    Jessica

    October 28, 2011

I dont have a water tip, my family is addicted to Crystal Light. Maybe if we had a pretty pitcher, I could convince my kids to drink more water. And myself too :)

    Lori

    October 28, 2011

I am trying to get back into a better water habit. I am obsessed with unsweetened iced tea and am trying to slowly trade it for water. I am down to 2 iced teas a day. Pretty good but it could be better. I do my best everyday and that is all I can do. Thanks for your continued inspiration!

Im 35 weeks preggo with #2 and am not drinking nearly as much as I should because I just cant handle anymore bath room breaks than I already am dealing with!

My 5 year olds favorite drink besides milk is water – we keep 2 filled bottles for him in the fridge door for him to take as needed. I have found I definately prefer it super cold and with a splash of lemon!

    Dionna

    October 28, 2011

I struggle to drink enough water. I try to always have a water bottle with me but it’s just a plastic store-bought one that I refill. I passed a kidney stone years ago and supposedly have more hanging out in my kidneys so drinking water is important for me. I’ve just got to make it a habit. :)

    Janine

    October 28, 2011

For me my water intake greatly varies from day to day. Some days I can go all day at work and barely drink anything. Other days I am better about it. One way that I sneak in my water is with sparkling water aka “fancy water”.

    Debby H

    October 28, 2011

YES!! THankyou for the chance to win!! My Brita pitcher followed my daughter to college!! I NEED one!!

    Paula

    October 28, 2011

I fill one of my hubby’s old Coleman thermos with water to bring to work. I make sure I drink the whole thing! Having it sit on my desk is a reminder. It would be a whole lot nicer having the Brita as the Coleman green bottle just doesn’t do it!

    Renee

    October 28, 2011

I have a 52 oz jug that I fill with water 2 times a day. It keeps it cold, but it doesnt have a filter. I totally believe in drinking a lot of water!! It makes such a difference!

    Missy

    October 28, 2011

Somedays are better than others for me. Yesterday I drank about 4 bottles worth of water at work, but today I was so busy I barely drank 1!!! It all depends on how much talking I’m doing I guess! Sometimes I think about it more. I need to be more deliberate about it though… I LOVE that purple pitcher though!

great giveaway! i have been meaning to get one of those filter in the bottle deals.

i do drink a lot of water. i try to get in 3 kanteens full by noon, and then sip lightly in the afternoon, otherwise i am up 5 times a night to run to the bathroom!!

    October 28, 2011

I confess, I don’t drink NEARLY the amount of water I should. :(

    Tammy

    October 28, 2011

I can’t seem to get back into the habit of drinking enough water these days. Maybe something like this would help be a constant reminder. Thanks Roni – for being so inspirational!

    Cami

    October 28, 2011

I need to win this ;) I live in the desert and hydration is uber important!

    Jodi Ingram

    October 28, 2011

I too feel better when I drink my water!!! I’ve been trying hard lately to get it in this filter would help make that so much easier!! Love the pictures!

    October 28, 2011

My downfall is at work! And I realized that I need one FOR work to fill and keep at my desk – similar to you keeping yours on your counter! Even if I don’t win – I will get one and bring it to work!

Why I didn’t think of that before is beyond me!

    Renee

    October 28, 2011

I know I should be drinking more and you have inspired me!

    Sunny

    October 28, 2011

When it is summer..no problem drinking water but now that it is cooler it is getting harder. I would love a Brita giveaway!! Pick me!!

    Nikki

    October 28, 2011

Thanks for the reminder. I need to get back into the habit. I’ve got a reusable cup/straw at work that was habitual to drink from. I recently got a new job position, and being in a new environment has me slacking! My poor cup just sits there!

    Katherine

    October 28, 2011

Since switching to glass (in place of plastic) containers, I find myself drinking a lot more water. I recently found a bottle made out of recycled glass that I always keep in the fridge, and I keep one at work, too.

    Donna Sue

    October 28, 2011

Although I dont drink as much water as I should, my best water tip is to fill a tall insulated cup (I use the plastic Starbucks Venti size) with ice first and then add water and lemon wedges, which I think are a MUST! I drink much more water this way however I do love your idea of keeping a full pitcher of water on the counter as a visual. :) Thanks for the Brita contest! I would LOVE to win this one! ;) I will cross my fingers! :)

    October 28, 2011

i make sure to drink two large….very large glasses in the morning and then two in the evening….that way i am sure to get 4 glasses in without a doubt. i try hard to drink as many as 4 to 6 more in the day….this seems to work for me!

    ps.

when i am really being good…i reach for a glass of water every time i want to eat junk…that like i said is when i am being very good!

    Rebecca M

    October 28, 2011

I am actually already a water junkie, but I agree that adding lemons can really help!

    shandy (@webgals)

    October 28, 2011

I have to admit….I’m bad about getting my water in anymore. I like water…I just like Diet Mt. Dew more sometimes. :) Winning this would be a great incentive to drinking more water.

    tessa

    October 28, 2011

Great idea to make it a challenge. I dont drink enough water, it is something I really need to work on. Thans for the chance.

    Adara

    October 29, 2011

I fill and refill a big jug at work…i just sip away at my desk and mindlessly drink a lot of water!

    Julie

    October 29, 2011

When I saw your Brita challenge post last time, I knew I had to make a change in my drinking habits, too. Although I always try hard to balance carb, protein, fat, fiber, etc in my daily diet, I had always forgot about the importance of H2O! Shame on me :/
So, that morning after I read your Brita challenge post, I went straight to the university bookstore and bought myself a stunning 20oz water bottle. I was quite determined, ha! So far, I have been doing well as far as filling it up in the morning and drinking enough water along the day – sometimes even re-filling it up a few times in between classes!
I don’t know if you can call this a tip, but I find it more interesting to drink water with a straw! Sometimes it motivates me to sip more and more :) haha
Thank you for reminding me to drink more water, Roni!

    Kayla P

    October 29, 2011

I need to work on drinking more water. I always feel better when I drink the recommended amount of water, but it is definitely a challenge for me. I would much rather grab a diet soda.

    Sheila King

    October 29, 2011

UGH! Your water intake increased, mine decreased. Seems as Autumn comes, the desire for other liquids increases while the desire for water decreases fast!

    Sharon

    October 29, 2011

Drinking from a plastic cup (no PPA & dishwater safe) with a straw that looks like a fast food cup has helped me drink more water. Drinking 2 of those cups a day puts me at about 48 ounces. I take one of those cups to work and fill a water bottle with water for the refill – avoiding the water fountains. For some reason I can drink more water with a straw then from a water bottle.

    Amy

    October 29, 2011

Lots of ice and a wedge of lemon is a good change of pace some days.

    Courtney

    October 29, 2011

Not enough. I NEED more water!!!

    Tammy

    October 29, 2011

I haven’t even come close to drinking enough water recently. The water bottle that I kept on my desk seems to have been replaced by a coffee cup…really need to correct this habit!

    Agnes thatcher

    October 29, 2011

I definitely dont drink enough water but I always try to get more in but adding lemon or orange slices or some frozen raspberries. Delicious!!

    jennifer

    October 29, 2011

I am a water only lover, we have a relationship my husband says. I am such an addict I keep a suppply in my car at all times so I am never without it. I admit I do feel guilty when I think of all the plastic water bottles I throw out, and the money I spend between deerpark deliveries and the need to try every single kind of bottled water I see. I have often though about using some sort of filter, I wonder if I am the sole reason for the deterioration of our environment, lol. My husband says nonsense…but I am a big contributor. I worry I wont like filtered water and remembering to bring it with you, change scares me I suppose.

    October 29, 2011

Great post! I drink too little, but I do carry a reusable Sigg bottle everywhere!

    Louise

    October 29, 2011

I gave up soft drinks about 3 months
ago and am trying to drink more water. Having a hard time! Thanks for the contest and great site, Roni!

    Lori

    October 29, 2011

Thankfully we are a water loving family. Water goes everywhere with us – including my 2 year old little guy. He’ll drink a sippy of water in a heartbeat and cry for another if he doesn’t get it fast enough!
Even if we don’t win, I want to purchase the water bottle with filter, so we can fill up on the run w/out having to look for bottled water. LOVE this idea!

    Mary Nell

    October 29, 2011

I, too, have fallen off the water wagon. I was doing really well, but then they moved the water at work to a spot that is very far away (a 3 minute walk to get there–doesn’t sound so far when I write it!) so I forget to fill up my bottle. I should use it as a reason to exercise (take the hike to fill it up), but I have so much work at my desk that I hate going that far, even though it would only take 6-8 minutes. The only water near me is a science lab that has a tap water so I would definitely love this prize! Fortunately, I’m not passing on my bad habits to my children. My Bella will only drink water or milk–she refuses anything else and I’m hoping it stays that way.

    October 29, 2011

I have to drink from a water bottle. I have the hardest time drinking water with ice in it. At lunch and dinner I will not get up from the table until I finish a whole bottle of water.I also drink water throughout the day.My daughter has a hard time drinking anything, where my son has taken after me and my husband.

    Robin

    October 29, 2011

I try to have water with me at times. There are days when I am really busy, that I do not drink enough and I can really tell it too!

    alison

    October 29, 2011

I try my best to drink enough water. I have a couple water bottles that I bring with me to school and work. I do not buy water bottles from the supermarket. At home, I add lemon to my water. I refuse to drink crytal light or any of that other stuff. Its good but full on chemicals. I would love a Brita!

    dottie

    October 29, 2011

I keep filtered water with lemon slices, cucumber slices, and a bit of sliced fresh ginger in the fridge, it’s like a tonic. I always have filtered water-ice cubes on hand to add to glasses or water bottles.

    Heather

    October 29, 2011

oh I love brita! I definitely need to start drinking more water. This would help!

    wendy

    October 29, 2011

Always bring a water bottle with me and refill during the day. It’s at night, when it’s tough to remember.

    Jill Witkowski

    October 29, 2011

I recently purchased a Brita pitcher and I love it. I too am trying my best to get more water in me. It really does make a difference in how I feel. My problem is I have a hard time getting my water in while at work. I have a water bottle I keep at my desk and I do fill it, I just get too busy and forget to drink it.

    Shannon H.

    October 29, 2011

My water tricks include trying to drink a whole bottle fill up on my way to work. Another before lunch. Third after lunch. Then a final fill up and chug on my drive home from work. I don’t always get them all in, but I feel GREAT when I do. Oh! And when it’s too darn cold, I go for tea in the wintertime. YUM!

    erin

    October 29, 2011

I have a 20oz straw cup that I fill up that helps me get more water, but the pitcher is an even better idea.

    Sherrie

    October 29, 2011

I enjoy having a diet coke or sometimes 2 per day.
I make a deal with myself. In order to get to drink a diet coke, I have to drink my 8 glasses of water first.
I like to chanllenge myself to get my daily intake of water. It works for me 99% of the time.

    Julie J.

    October 29, 2011

We want a Brita pitcher, not a belly itcher! Seriously, I would love to win this Brita giveaway. I have a 7-month-old son also, and am still nursing. I need to drink even MORE water than usual. My husband and I have given up the plastic water bottle addiction, so sometimes it is difficult to remember to drink. more. water. everyday. I know the filtered bottle will help me and my precious son. Thanks for thinking of us! By the way – roses are red, violets are blue, I love that pitcher and so do you! :)

    Angie

    October 29, 2011

    Good reminder to drink up!

    Mary

    October 29, 2011

We would love to win this! We’re making a conscious effort to drink more water. This will really help!! If not, I will add it to my wish list;)

    Caron

    October 29, 2011

I fill up my water bottle first thing in the morning and add lemon juice to take on my walk. I drink a LOT of water in the morning and then (unfortunately) tend to slack off later in the day. Trying to do better with that. :)

    Zoe

    October 29, 2011

I try and try to drink enough water, but I know that I am not. I am both pregnant and still breastfeeding a little one so I know I should be drinking an ocean of water a day!!! I hope I win:)

    girliefriend

    October 29, 2011

Water has never been a challenge for me. I keep water in the fridge because I like it cold. I carry a bottle with me wherever I go. I do find I drink more if I use a glass as opposed to a sports bottle.

    Bonnie Richmond

    October 29, 2011

Like you, when I lost my weight, I got in the habit of drinking tons of water, and I have to also admit that I’ve lost some of that, but would like to get back to drinking tons of water again. My tip is…take a bottle with you in the car and drink it on the way to work….3 glasses (24 oz.) already in you and you’re not even at work yet!

    KATHY

    October 29, 2011

would love to win this great gift. staying hydrated helps so many things. kathy

    Kara

    October 29, 2011

I carry my Contigo water bottle with me everywhere! It definitely helps me to get in plenty of water. :)

    Miranda

    October 29, 2011

I used to hate drinking water, but forced myself to drink only water for several months and now I actually enjoy it. I always keep a gallon of water in the fridge and try to finish it by the end of the day!

    Patricia Leo

    October 29, 2011

My lack of H2O intake has actually made my skin dry, my lips flake, and my mouth so dry.Reading this reminded me that I MUST drink more water so that I will feel better!

    Jennifer Page

    October 29, 2011

I go in phases….which makes no sense, since I KNOW that drinking plenty of water helps me feel better and helps my weight loss!! I’d LOVE to win!!

    Barbara

    October 29, 2011

Am teaching in two schools this year and my healthy routines, like drinking water, are waa-aay off. Glad you’ve been reminding us to drink more!!!!!!!!!!!

    Tracy

    October 29, 2011

I used to put Crystal Light in my water and drink it all day. When I decided to eat “cleaner,” I switched to plain water and it was harder to get it all down. Now I am used to it and love plain water.

    BigTickles

    October 29, 2011

    I would love this pitcher!

What I currently do (or try to do) is this..I still have the 30 oz cup they gave me in the hospital after giving birth. I try to fill it up 4 times throughout the day. However now it is an epic FAIL (for me) because the toddler now thinks it is HIS cup. Now I need another one. ;-(

    Tina

    October 29, 2011

What a great way to get yourself to drink more water. I have definately been slacking with my water.

    Megan

    October 29, 2011

I try to drink at least 64 ounces a day. I try to remember to fill my water bottles the night before so it is cold in the morning. I sometimes add Crystal Light flavor packets, especially if I need to drink more to get my quota in for the day.

    Audrey

    October 29, 2011

I have 4 bottles of water in the frig. Let’s me keep track of how much I am drinking.

    Kelly Welfel

    October 29, 2011

I have gotten myself in the habbit of having a glass full of water with me at home at all times and take a bottle with me when I am out and about. My bladder has adjusted to all my water consumption and I don’t have to go any more than usual. It does get used to it. I love water and it is usually the only liquid that I drink.

    Brandyjo

    October 29, 2011

I buy 2 liters and cans of sparkling water and seltzer and I drink at least a 2 liter and 2 cans a day. It keeps me super hydrated and I don’t get bored with it! It has actually become my craving!

    Lauren P.

    October 29, 2011

I usually add a slice of lemon to my water. Helps me drink all my water on those days I’m having trouble getting it all in.

    Laura N.

    October 29, 2011

I am HORRIBLE at drinking water. I must confess, I will go a few days without drinking any and then realize I’m really thirsty and chug down a few bottles. I am trying hard to kick my soda habit. I know it would be so much better for me if I could learn to like water!

    Amy L.

    October 29, 2011

I am terrible at drinking enough water- I KNOW I should drink more, but I need to make an effort to actually do it!

    JennieM

    October 29, 2011

Currently not drinking enough water…must buy lemons, it makes it easier!

    Sabrina

    October 29, 2011

Currently not drinking enough water. I don’t like tap water. I don’t care what anyone says, it has a different taste. So, I buy water. Here is my question, did the filter work to remove the tap taste? Also, I like my water room temp. I drink it faster.

    Margaret

    October 29, 2011

I actually never knew that I wasn’t drinking enough water until I saw how much water my boyfriend would drink everyday. Now, I have a Camelbak waterbottle to make drinking water more fun, but still hate the taste of water from the faucet. Winning a Brita Pitcher would definitely change that!

    Kristin Cappelli

    October 29, 2011

I drink water, herbal tea and Perrier or Pellegrino daily to the tune of at least 75 oz daily. My goal each day is to finish 30oz by noon, but as a teacher, its hard. So I end up making up for it in the afternoon! I refill my used Perrier bottles from my fridge dispenser and take them to school, I refuse to drink tap water at school!

    Corinne Russell

    October 29, 2011

I am really good at drinking water Monday-Friday while I am sitting at my desk during work hours. Its after work and on the weekends that I lack. Trying to find a way to drink more water at home.

    Nicole

    October 29, 2011

I drink more diet soda than water at least 3 days a week. There…I said it…maybe it’s time for a change?

    Barb

    October 29, 2011

I drink a glass or two after each meal instead of having dessert — and it works almost all the time. This contest is a great reminder, thank you!!!

    Amanda

    October 29, 2011

I drink my water from a straw and a 32 ounce cup! The straw is a must for me–I guess I am too lazy if I have to tilt my head back to drink it! The 32 ounce cup is easier for me to keep track of how much I’ve drank. I aim for at least 4 cups a day which is 128 ounces. Works well for me! I’d love to have one of those filtered water bottles for when I am out and my cup is empty. I never leave home w/ out my cup of water!

    Wendy

    October 29, 2011

I am one of those who does not get enough

    Kim

    October 29, 2011

I want it…I want it….I want it ;) I really need to drink more water.

    Elise

    October 30, 2011

Headaches & chapped lips, they both hurt and are immediate signs I’m not drinking enough water. That alone keeps me motivated!

    Susie

    October 30, 2011

In Portland (Oregon!), tap water is delicious and drinkable from the tap. Ever since I moved away from my hometown for school, my water intake has been declining substantially because the tap water here is not palatable and does not feel safe to drink. :( I have my beloved water kanteen, but that does not filter and has been useless. I needs me a built in water filter water bottle! I hope I win!

    Tiffany

    October 30, 2011

I’ve been trying to drink more water this past week :) I have a 24 oz water bottle that I love, and I try to drink 5 of them each day.

    Sue S.

    October 30, 2011

Currently not drinking enough water. Can’t stand taste/smell of our local water from the tap. Usually buy bottles of water which can get pricy. After all, it’s water. Why should it cost the same as bottled soft drinks. Would love a Brita pitcher.

    roni

    October 30, 2011

Sabrina – One of the Brita’s goals is to make the water taste better. I drink from my tap all the time but I don’t mind it filtered or unfiltered. I’m sure it depends a lot on your area.

    TammySoave

    October 30, 2011

Love the pictures! I KNOW I don’t get enough water in…and certainly know I need to! It’s not that I don’t like water, I just forget unless I’m sitting down to eat. I’ll fill my water bottle, carry it for a while and then forget where I left it. I like your idea of keeping the pitcher out and visible and drinking until it is empty.

    Michelle

    October 30, 2011

I just hate the constant bathroom breaks! But I know that my joints would love to have more water. Maybe this will help :)

    Laura

    October 30, 2011

I go through water phases and right now I’m in the “don’t drink enough water” one; but I feel much much better when I do.
One word of advice I always give to those that want to drink more is to measure it out. People are surprised at how little 1 cup of water is (most people just grab a large glass from the cupboard and assume they should drink eight of those setting themselves up to fail). By measuring it doesn’t really seem to that much!

    Gayle

    October 30, 2011

I have been working very hard to drink more water! I have what I call my “adult sippy cup” lol. It is lidded cup with a straw. Makes the water go down a little easier. LOL

    Evilwoman

    October 30, 2011

I used to drink water ALL the time but fell off the wagon! Brita to the rescue!

    Nancy

    October 30, 2011

Love adding sliced cucumbers or lime wedges to my water, it keeps me coming back for more sips all day long.

    Amanda

    October 30, 2011

I carry a water bottle with a special insert that holds it in so you don’t spill it all over you!! I really like the new mio as well.

    Melissa E.

    October 30, 2011

I drink lots of water every day. I drink a large glass of water before I eat meals and one with my meals. I even drink water while cooking to keep me from too much sampling. I just feel much better when I drink a lot of water. I don’t get headaches like I used to and I don’t get colds and every other virus that my son brings home from school like I did before drinking as much water.

    Jenny

    October 30, 2011

I have a bottle that tells you how many cups to drink a day and try to do finish it. :)

    Bridget

    October 30, 2011

I really need to get back in the H2O habit too!

    Kerry

    October 30, 2011

First of all, congratulations to you on drinking all your water!!
I’ve gotten much better since I started working out – usually 48oz while at the gym. And since I cut out Diet Coke, it’s water all the time now!

    jean

    October 30, 2011

anhything that would help me to drink ANY water would be a big help,

    Kaxxina

    October 30, 2011

I’ve been working on my drinking water habit for nearly a month now.,.. It would certainly get a BIG boost if I won! :)

    Joanie

    October 30, 2011

I have a water bottle that I put in the freezer at night and then in the morning I fill it up it keep water cold for a long time. It is great before soccer games.

    I’m horrible with water!

    Beverly Kersh

    October 31, 2011

Nice photos Roni. It is a good project. I like this type of healthy competition. I also drink plenty of water. I can feel the difference when i took less water a particular day. The people don’t aware of the usefulness of water. It helps in losing weight and keeps body function smooth. I am a weight loss success story. I drunk a lot water when gone through HCG diet plan and Injections.

    Mel

    October 31, 2011

I add 2 tbsp of lemon juice and 1 tbsp of cranberry juice to a 2L pitcher and sip throughout the day. Just enough to get over the plain water taste and keep me motivated to drink it.

    Shari

    October 31, 2011

I too am a water slacker!! Need to get back into the habit – I used to drink 100 oz per day…ARRRGGHHH!! Love all of the tips:)
    Thanks!

    Lisa

    October 31, 2011

I am a water drinking champ at work all week, but totally slack at home on the weekends. A new Britta pitcher might help with that :) I love that you have a purple one.

    Lisa

    October 31, 2011

Water hasn’t ever been too big of a problem for me. 20 oz. every morning during my commute to work. Another 20 oz. before lunch and then 20 oz to finish off the day before dinner….60 oz. total plus a caffeine free diet soda for lunch and milk for dinner….the Brita system would be GREAT to have on hand!!!
    Thanks, Roni!

    Missy

    October 31, 2011

I currently drink water really well through the week. However when the weekend comes and my routine is interrupted I don’t do so well.

    Tonia

    October 31, 2011

I drink iced tea all day. I wish that counted, but I know that I should get in the habit of drinking plain water. Maybe this would help!

    Alexa

    October 31, 2011

My best water tip is to always have my water ice cold (literally, chalked full of ice). I love to drink icy cold water, and it helps me drink more, as I drink it faster then!

    Diane

    October 31, 2011

I used to be so good at this and I have slipped off the water train lately, I really need to get back to it!!!

    Sam

    October 31, 2011

Trying to quit soda completely and go strictly water – this would help out a lot!! Thanks for the giveaway =)

    Winnie

    October 31, 2011

I fill up my water bottle and leave it open on my desk. If I don’t want to accidentally spill water over my work, it needs to be empty. :)

    Kathy G.

    October 31, 2011

I have a 32 oz. Weight Watchers mug I keep filled with ice water. I sip it all day at work, usually filling it twice. I also have a big mug I fill when I get home and drink that on and off all the way til bedtime.

    Dana

I have been drinking lots of water daily for years. It is my secret appetite surpresant. Ok..maybe not so secret but it does help when I feel an urge to snack on something. :-) Lots of people don’t like the “taste” or lack there of and so I tell people to use those crystal light packets or a squeeze of lemon and a splenda to make mock lemonade.

Sometimes I have to use some of the calorie-free drink flavor packets to get my water in… but it does help!

My tip: Drinking plenty of water helps with nursing supply! :)

Setting deadlines – before work, before lunch, before home and before bed – for drinking a bottle full helps me meet my water goals. I love the purple brita pitcher.

I forget how much I love the taste of water. I think it is all about the packaging. And how cool is that beautiful Brita pitcher to solve that problem ;)

Just started Weight Watchers and struggling to get the water down. I like the idea of filling the pitcher and letting it inspire me to drink!

I’m one of those people that don’t drink enough. I’ll go all day with out drinking anything and when 11pm hits I’m so dry I can’t get enough water! I like the idea of filling the pitcher and leaving it on the counter to remind yourself of drinking.

I totally do not drink enough water. I could go a whole meal and not even drink anything at all. I really need to drink more water than I do. I love the idea of filling this pitcher and sitting it on my desk and drinking a whole one everyday.

Im so hooked on soda,I need to drink more water, but it taste awful from the faucet without a water filter, and I would rather not buy the bottle water because im not sure where it comes from and they pollute the enviroment.so a britta water pitcher would help me drink more water, and hopefully get rid of the soda.

I need to drink more water – lots more. I gave up soda this week so I’m hoping that will help with the water intake!

I put fresh lemon slices in my water.

I love drinking water! and recently I’ve been encouraging my two girls, 5 & 3, to drink more of it. Cute “water bottles” (a.k.a. stainless steel Thermoses with fun straws and favorite characters) have helped…they’re only allowed to fill them with water :o)

Water is my drink of choice. It also makes eating out a lot cheaper.

I didn’t realize the power of water until I hydrated like crazy the week before my marathon. I rocked my marathon, in part, thanks to all the water I drank! :)

It’s amazing how run down and yucky I feel when I don’t drink enough water. Like right now. Help me.

So I will confess I only average about 64oz of water a day… I drink one 32 oz rubbermaid water bottle in the AM for my morning workout and to digest my vitamins, and then I drink on the other through out the day at work… here is the shameful part… because I cant stand the tap water taste from the kitchen sink at home I fill both 32oz water bottles up through my employers water 5 gallon water dispensary when I leave work every day just so that I have “clean” water to hydrate with for the rest of the evening and to start my morning with. The weekends are a bust, I have to submit to the faucet water… :(

I was never a water drinker, until I decided to live healthier and drop a few pounds. Now, I too never go anywhere without a bottle of water with me. It is all I drink. Occasionally, I will throw in a lemon or a crystal light packet just to help with the boredness of drinking plain water. It really helps keep you on track.

I’m a teacher, and the water at my school was so gross…The Brita has greatly improved my water drinking habits! Your blog is lovely, and the photos are adorable! I’m a total blog newbie and welcome advice if you have a chance to check it out: www.weightwatchwithus.com
