YAY for podcasts! Let’s get right to it. Topics this week include…

  • I’m only losing 1 lb a week. Thoughts on slow weight loss?
  • How do you account for ketchup?
  • Nursing and Running long distances.
  • Working out in the AM vs PM.

    Your first story and example…that’s me!
    I’ve been following plan – really following plan – for the last month. I run for 30 minutes on Mon. & Fri. (I did my first 5K this morning in 32 min!!!!), do a 1 mile run and strength training on Tues. Thurs. & Sat. and have stayed at the same weight +- 2 lbs the whole time. Something has to give! I am actually making an appt with a physician today because no amount of working out and changing what I’m eating is working….makes me want to eat snicker bars all day and never stop. I haven’t though, promise! I don’t know what else to do. I am almost 6′ tall and can’t get to my goal weight – heck, I’m 24 lbs from it as of this morning. Ugh!
    My friend that started at the same time I did has lost an INSANE amount – double digits. But me, NOTHING!

    Roni, I wish you could post stuff like this every day, you’re like the ultimate upbeat pep-talker :) I have a husband, four kids, and I work full time outside of the house, and I’m really really struggling to find time to work out because everybody wants my time and I feel guilty if I leave them to work out because as it is they aren’t getting enough of me. Now, because I don’t work out, there’s more of me to get :P

    I have missed the podcasts so much! I was just thinking about your podcasts on Monday…wishing for a new one! You have such great energy and motivation that just hearing your voice helps me so much.

    I’ve been having trouble with my running, just can’t find the will to go out there. I signed up for a 5k on 10/22 and I really need to get out there…this weekend! I loved all the advise you gave to the mom about getting back to running. It makes total sense and I’m going to find a time that works for me.

    P.S. Ketchup with breaded fish…what could be bad about that? YUM! Definitely going to try it! :)

    I was so excited to see your podcast today!! I totally relate to the first question about feeling like you’re doing everything right and “only” losing 1 lb a week! I get discouraged when that happens to me and usually self sabbotage and binge eat! Of course, when I do THAT, instead of losing 1 lb for that week, I totally can gain 5!! This is craziness, right!?! So, thanks for this podcast, which I will listen to when I feel myself giving in to the crazy!!

    As for ketchup, I love ketchup – esp. on eggs .. to be honest, I don’t track ketchup, I feel ketchup didn’t get me here .. it’s most likely the fries in dipped in the ketchup. Just my feelings!

    Just have to say that the day care center I work at served fish sticks for lunch on Friday and gave us only ketchup as the dipping sauce, none of the kids complained that they wanted something else…though I would have preferred other options. Growing up in Upstate NY with a local fish fry place, the options were plain, tartar, or chili sauce. Personally, I am not a huge fan of ketchup, but my husband is. I prefer mustard on most things, he never uses mustard. lol

    Roni, thanks for answering my question about nursing while BF’ing! Just an update…I do have a goal, a short duathlon at the end of October. So, I have been slowly increasing my time out running, but it is still so hard, at least I think it feels harder than before I had my little guy. I run about a 10 minute mile, which is what I ran before. So, maybe I need to slow it down :)

    Anyways, congrats on your half Mary! You rocked it! And, thanks for answering my question!

    That’s perfectly normal. I have always used ketchup to dip fish and chips in. And I never count any points for ketchup at all… that’s just too much for me to bother with.
    I think ketchup and breaded fish makes more sense then tartar sauce, which I’m not a fan of either.

    So glad you did an Ask Roni podcast, Roni! I really needed the motivation today… have a 5k registration (for THIS weekend) sitting on my desk, and wasn’t sure I was going to send it in. After being reminded how fun running is, and how it’s no big deal how slow we go… I’m sending it in now. Thanks!
