Kayla sent me this note a few weeks ago…

Being a binge eater and constantly fighting this eating and losing weight battle, I thought you would like this quote. “One bad morning does not make for a bad day, One bad day does not make for a bad week, one bad week does not make for a bad month, one bad month does not make for a bad year. You decide where the chain stops.”

We really do decide, don’t we? Sometimes I take the ownership of it all for granted.

This reminded me of a Weekend Quote from last year. Click here to read How Many Eggs Have You Thrown Away?

You have no idea how much I needed to read that. I’m printing it and putting it all over my house!!!

I like this. A lot! I have been on the yo-yo circuit for awhile now. Only recently did I decide that I actually have control over all of this. I’m modifying my diet to include more vegetables and less meat and cheese. DUH! <— you think right? But I've had a nasty relationship with veggies all my life, and I decided I was going to own it this week! I quietly made the decision to spend my entire grocery budget on produce. Do you know now that every time I open my fridge there is something I can grab and eat? Fruit and veggies galore! And I feel awesome – I took charge! I'm done having dbad weeks/months/years – I'm making a difference but making a different choice and I'm not letting some corporate plan tell me what and when I should it.

*Phew* I feel so much better!

  3. One my of my favourites is:

If you trip on one step, you don’t then throw yourself down the whole staircase, do you?

I’ve been hearing some great quotes this week and this is another :) One lady at my meeting this week said one of her leaders told her: if you trip down a stair, you don’t just go ahead and fling yourself down the entire flight of stairs do you? Nope, you catch yourself, regain your balance, and take it step by step the rest of the way. That spoke to me alot. Thanks Roni! Have a great weekend!

  5. Great minds thing alike, Lori T! :)

yesterday i went on a chocolate binge in the morning… could.not.get.enough.chocolate….. been pretty stressed out with our move… had to get my husband to the airport early… excuses, excuses… had to take a nap to “snap out of it”… decided after i woke up that i would eat fruits and veggies the rest of the day! it helps to realize you really can change the direction of things…

    Perfect! Love this.

Awesome. I have been struggling getting back on track after not being able to attend meetings for a month. Thinking of getting on the scale up a little after a month when I should have been down a lot just gives me anxiety. But I cannot quit. Its got to stop! Thanks for posting this. I love the tripping on the step analogy as well! I seem to always throw myself down the stairs and then stay there forever!

This is an excellent quote. Yesterday was my bad day so I guess I better make today count. Excellent post.

  10. Laurie says:

    That. I like!

  11. Jacqui says:

Those are all awesome analogies, and they frankly made me smile… the thought of me saying “Oh, what the heck” and flinging myself down the stairs, or equally ridiculous, haphazardly throwing eggs onto the kitchen floor. I can just imagine my husband and kids standing in the doorway of the kitchen with their mouths hanging open….. makes me smile! :)

Awesome quote. How many times I have had a bad morning and threw the entire day down the toilet. I have to keep this quote in my mind for those times. Thanks for the reminder.

  13. Tara says:

What a great quote! I am really learning to embrace that mentality! But it is hard, but this quote is so true!

  14. Kayla says:

    Roni,
Thank you for putting this quote up that I sent you! After having a super bad day, that is def what I needed!
