One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

JOURNAL

It’s Official. I’m a Klutz.

Yup. That’s me after tonight’s 5 mile run. I was literally 200 meters from the house when I lost my footing, AGAIN! This just happened a few weeks ago. I don’t know what’s up with me and the falling all of a sudden. I’m thinking it’s either the darkness (although this was a well lit area) or my shoes??

I don’t know but I’m hurting. Shoulder, knee, ear, face. ugh.

Anyway, I was planning on posting this…

Little Guy’s first day of school is tomorrow and this is his lunch. Last year I talked about adding a feature where I would post some of his lunches. I’m still planning on doing so, just not ready yet. I hope to have a new tab over over on GreenLiteBites simply called School Lunch Ideas, in the next few days. (UPDATE: It’s up! Please click here to see my new School Lunch Ideas page!) In the mean time, I’ll intermix them over here.

Tomorrows lunch:

  • whole Wheat Ritz with the Laughing Cow Cheese and turkey pepperoni,
  • a handful of pistachios,
  • red pepper stripes,
  • a mango cubed,
  • 2 duplex cookies, and
  • water.

He was happy and helped make it. :)

In other news, I posted a new fun sandwich idea on GreenLiteBites using plums and have two new posts on Babies First Year. One is a VERY cute (if I do say so myself) slide show of Little Bean and the other is about poop. Yes, poop. Hey, I’m a Mom to a kid in diapers. It was bound to come up. ;)

Kept my food journal on twitter today.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

So sorry you fell, lady. Hey though, I wonder if it has anything to do with being post-baby… maybe it’s a little late, but at some point your pelvis has to rotate back to where it was before it rotated down to hold the baby. Remember, when you’re about 6 months preggo and you start walking like a duck? I wonder when that goes back to normal… maybe you have a balance issue for a few months post-baby. Just a thought. :)

And your school lunches are truly inspiring. I will never get tired of you posting about them. I hope you do it EVERY week. I want Zene’s lunch to look just like Ryan’s! This morning though I had to bribe him just to let me put grapes in it. (pbj on white bread, Trader Joe’s reduced guilt multigrain chips, Rice Krispy treat, grapes).

Ouch! Those curbs to tend to jump out of nowhere! You may need to invest in road wear for running… :p

If I could change ANY one thing about my sons school, it’d be lunches. He CAN take a lunch, BUT still has to get a tray. We tried that last year and 9/10, he’d come home with his entire lunch. Boo.

I love the idea of Bento, and yours are simple! I don’t have time to do all that other stuff. I hope Ryan has a great first day!

Ohhh Roni! I hope you are OKAY! :(

The lunch box is awesome…somehow I think I’m going to benefit from Little Guy’s lunch ideas! My creativity with food has been below zero lately…I blame my end of summer blues.

I’ve fallen twice since I started running, both times because I got tangled up in my dog’s legs when she decided to cross in front of me (SQUIRREL!). So I know I have to be extra vigilant with her. But I’ve had lots of trips and near falls, and they are always because I’m zoned out and not paying much attention to my running. Not sure how to counteract that, because a big part of why I run is to clear my mind! But you really should get a headlamp for night runs, if only so you’ll be seen. It’s just safer all around. Mine is comfortable for running, and adjustable (light level and angle). It just looks a little goofy.

You should check out what moms do in Japan for their kids school lunches. My son went there for a semester, and did a research project on it. Their bentos are absolutely inspired, hello-kitty type productions. Made me ashamed of my sad PBJ sack lunches.

So sorry, Roni, but I was thinking that maybe it’s post-baby too? I would think that with a baby your balance goes out a whack a bit and it probably takes a bit to get it back to “normal” again. Our chiropractor really encourages us to do balance exercises – and it’s pretty eye-opening!
    Hope you feel better soon!

My friend was out running and fell for no reason. Turns out it was the shoes – she was wearing motion control shoes and they were over-correcting her slight pronation. The over-correction caused her to land on her foot incorrectly, lose her balance and fall. Have you changed shoes recently?

Do you like the laptop lunch box? I’ve been thinking of getting one for my son, but I have read mixed reviews, so I haven’t been sure. I am wondering about my 5 year old getting the lids off and any leaks? Thank you!

Amy – I do like it but the lids are sometimes difficult. Leaks I haven’t noticed.

Liz – I think it’s the shoes too. I have recently changed. I’m going back!

Seriously sweet lunch!! Even more impressive is how he was “happy and helped make it” (good job!). Please post many more of these yummy-lookin’ lunches.

    P.S. Sorry about your fall!
