One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

A Seven Mile Sensational Sunday

22 Comments 1840 views

Today was a good old fashioned Sensational Sunday. I woke up with a mission to feel a bit more organized before facing a new week.

It all started in this mess…

That basket of clothes has been there for days, and I’m not sure if you can see, but the kitchen counters are a mess!

Little Guy and I get right to work while The Husband and Baby sleep. After a little while we break for breakfast.

I had an omelet with onion, zucchini, spinach, ham and bacon bits.

Oh! And some watermelon. :)

Part of my goal was to organize some Little Guy’s projects and school work and put them in storage. We had fun reminiscing the last 2 years.

Once everything was boxed up it was snack time!

Finally the husband got up (baby is still sleeping at this time.) I put him right to work.

The baby joined us and had fun watching the husband fold laundry.

He was completely in awe.

The husband? Well, sometimes he gets annoyed at all my picture taking.

The boys chatted a bit and then we decided to shower up and go for lunch. I totally forgot my phone so there are no mid-day pictures. :(

We ended up eating at Panera. I had the new lemon chicken orzo soup with a BBQ chicken salad. It was SO good! I wish I could show it to you.

Anyway, after lunch we shopped a bit and took Little Guy for a haircut. Look how cute he is!

Once we got home it was all about finishing the cleaning. I’m proud to say I accomplished my mission…

The house was organized and the boys were relaxing.

Soon it was time for dinner. I experimented with an eggplant dish..

and made pizza with Little Guy.

Then it was Bath and Bed for the boys. Mom had one last thing on her agenda.

Yup. That’s 7 MILES! I finished week 7 in my training. Just a few more weeks before the half. I’m excited and proud of how far I’ve come. Last week I missed a few workouts because of BlogHer but I got right back into my grove when I came back, only missing one strength training session this week.

Here I am after the run tonight.

I had a great day and that was an awesome way to end it. Now I need sleep!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Congratulations! I just ran 10K this weekend and am hoping to be able to complete a half this fall. My little one is 3 months old … So it’s slow going right now and can be difficult to find the time!

Also, congratulations on having a husband that folds laundry! Love the picture of your tiniest one watching his daddy. Is there hope for all men?

What an awesome day! House looks AMAZING! What a huge accomplishment… I need a few helpers to make my house sparkle too. I just wanted to say that Evan TOTALLY looks like you – in that little picture (the side profile shot) you guys have the SAME eyes! Adorable!

Wow. I wish I could do 7 miles. I only recently started running, and I’m only doing a mile at a time. Can’t wait to be able to really GO THE DISTANCE. :-)
I couldn’t help noticing…….your husband is wearing only one sock…..:-) lol

Oh….and your husbands reaction to the picture taking is IDENTICAL to my husbands reaction to picture taking. It must be hard-wired into thier genetic makeup to be annoyed by wives with cameras. :-)

Congrats on a great day Roni :) Funny how all husbands seem to react the same to photos, lol. Have a great week! PS – I can’t believe how much “little guy” is looking like a young man now…craziness :)

Tara – My secret with husbands and folding is… Hey I’m doing X, Y, Z, today do you mind just folding while you watch “the game?”

    Works every time! lol

I have got to clean this week! The house is a mess. It is my last week before I go back to school and there is just part of me that is like “leave it enjoy the week” but I know next week will be a mess if I am not organized. Silly question, how do you make an omelet. I tried to make one this morning and I ended up with a mess. Is there a video you have already posted?

    This may help…

My old technique for making “mommy and me omelets” :)

LOVE the ‘bird’ pic! I think every family has a few pages in Ye Olde Photo Albums devoted exclusively to bird pics. And just why looking at someone elses before and after pics of a ‘lived in’ house is so motivating, just befuddles me! ( my living room floor is barely visible due to all the hot wheels and such. I figure if someone breaks in, they will kill themselves, tripping on them!)

Do you want to come over to my house and clean now? I hate cleaning so much but with 3 kids I really have no choice. I’m actually looking forward to them getting older and giving them my cleaning chores. LOL

Great job on the run. I am definitely not a runner and couldn’t even imagine running 7 miles, let along after a long day.

Yay! a few more weeks until the Half… wait, did I just say that? My body is rejecting the training; don’t know if I’ll be able to even walk till then.,.. you could push me in a wheelchair while you run, right? :-) oh and the pic of your husband…. HAHAHAHA… love it, and love that you posted it. That’s exactly how I feel about my MIL’s picture taking cause she makes you stop, pose, and screams “look here! smile!” 10 times while she takes 5 pictures. I have several pics of me rolling my eyes at her :-)

Hi~~love that you take “real life” pics. Your kids are so cute and awesome that you did 7 miles. My knees won’t let me but I do walk alot.

Good for you getting right back into your workout groove! That’s usually the hardest part.

Your eggplant looks delish! My boyfriend and I tackled a major mess this weekend, as well. We’re getting there….

It all comes down to that inner decision to make a change! It was a photograph of myself that did it for me.

i am in love with that soup at panera. if you’re interested, sams club sells it in the refrigerated soup section.

Question: Hey Roni. Where did you get the cute storage boxes? I am using ugly recycled cartons from my office for kids’ art.

Also – did you make the pizza crust??

    :) Thanks in advance.

Hi Roni, that TRULY was a sensational Sunday. Despite the fact your husband flipped you the bird! :) HILARIOUS!!! Hope your Monday has been equally as good!!

    August 16, 2011

You look good after running 7 miles… After I run 3 I look like death. :)

    August 17, 2011

LOL at Bill giving you the finger! I would be doing the same after my crazy blogger wife snap a pic of me wearing just one sock, folding clothing ;)

    August 17, 2011

Jes – The boxes are from Ikea. They have great storage options and really affordable.
And I do make my own crust –>
But that one was Trader Joes. :)
