A Sensational Sunday at the Shore!

19 Comments 2054 views

I really think I was a beach bum in a former life. Every time I’m at the Jersey Shore I wonder why I don’t live closer to the ocean. It just feels like home.

Of course I have tons to tell you but no energy left, so I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking.

These two got me up bright and early.

Their interactions are getting cuter and cuter.

We started the day with a healthy breakfast.

I made sure to stock the beach rental with fresh fruit. I’ll feel better about all the junk knowing I got at least a few servings of fruit and whole grains in the boy. Plus what beats a New Jersey blueberry in July? Ummm pretty much nothing. :)

Soon it was strapping baby on time.

We were headed to the beach!

Little Bean slept..

while the boys played…

and I read.

Nutrition Diva gave me a copy of her book at FitBloggin’ Local and I’m loving it! She’s great at giving the straight talk on nutrition without any lectures or hype.

Soon the stomach started to rumble so I decided to reach for a snack.

"That’s it" sent me some samples of their bars right before I left. I was interested in trying them, as all they are is fruit. That’s right, fruit. Nothing else.

I must admit, at first glance I wasn’t too impressed…

but they were tasty! At least the apple/apricot one was. Looking forward to trying their other flavors later in the week.

I also fed Little Bean on the beach and posted a bit about it on Baby’s First Year. Click here for a pic and the story.

Anyway, little guy asked us to bury him so we obliged.

After a full day in the sun we headed back for showers.

I decided to take my long run while the boys relaxed and watched soccer. (How heartbreaking was THAT?!?)

It was a tough 5 miles, but MAN did I feel awesome afterwards.

That’s week 3 DONE on my training schedule. I can’t believe it! (I’ll wrap up this week with next, as I did shift around workouts becuase of vacation)

When I got back it was time to hit the boards. The rides were calling our names…

We got dinner at a little seafood place and I had the best blackened salmon over greens. For dessert, some Polish Ice. Delicious!

We headed back and chilled for a bit…

Now both kids are sleeping. The Husband is reading. And I’m ready for bed.

Can every day be like this? Please? :)

I love me some beach vacation too! Except for the sand issue. That stuff ends up… how do I say this? EVERYWHERE!!! Yes, even there!

I’m headed to the Jersey shore next week and can’t wait. My grandparents had a summer house in Wildwood (it was much less “wild” then) and we spent our summer vacations there. I love it so much, now I make the 13-hour drive every year. Your pix have gotten me all excited for my week there! Enjoy every minute!

Awesome – looks like you’re having a much-needed “break” (even though holidays can be so tiring too!). Enjoy! That book looks very good…hmmm. Let us know?!

I LOVE Nutrition Diva! I’ve been listening to her podcasts for about two years now!

Looks like an absolutely PERFECT day!!!!! Love the photos, especially the one with the two boys interacting (gorgeous!!) and your oldest buried in the sand. He’ll have that memory forever! Glad you are enjoying, thanks for sharing pics with us while you are away!!

Ooooh, so jealous of the beach vacay. I’m over here in the Mountain West, so the beach isn’t really a close option. Seriously, it sounds like the perfect day. And what a great family you have. Awwww.
Congrats on keeping up with your training, and you are doing fabulous with your weight loss! I’m finally starting to lose my baby weight, and the little darling is almost 22 months- ha!
Oh, and P.S. love the Nutrition Diva. She has a great podcast with her “quick and dirty tips” and it’s super-short so it doesn’t even take much time out of my day.

Roni are you in Ocean City? Do you have anybody to watch the kids? I thought maybe you and the DH could sneak away and come to the Borgata and have some adult fun, and to see me!! LOL Looks like you are having a wonderful time. I love living by the beach, too bad I have to work though, you have a wonderful week, it is supposed to be a scorcher these next few days…is that boo-boo on your shoulder when you fell…owwww……

What a perfect day. Even though I am jealous (in a good way), thank you for sharing so I could pretend for a minute I was at the shore. Enjoy the rest of your week.

OMG, you are looking FANTASTIC in those pictures Roni. Wow. It’s winter here in Australia, and its absolutely pouring down rain at the moment -my vege garden is flooded =( It’s so nice to see your family enjoying the sun and sand! I know what you mean about living close to the beach – I am north of Sydney (East coast of Australia) and there are lovely beaches within 20 minutes of my house.. I don’t think I could ever move back to the city, even though I don’t exactly have a beach-bod. Something to aim for!

Ocean City is awesome if that’s where you’re at. We’ve been there the past few summers but my sister has a house this year in North Wildwood so we’ll be heading there instead. I’d much rather go to Ocean City!!

Looks like a great day! I’m a big fan of getting in healthy breakfasts while on vacation. My biggest indulgence while on vacation is typically drinking. I end up having at least a couple drinks every day. But I try to make up for it once home!
