One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Now THIS is a Sensational Sunday

11 Comments 1725 views

I’m feeling MUCH better after today even with a sleepless night. I can’t blame the baby. He’s doing quite well, only waking to eat and then right back to sleep. Me on the other hand? I can’t seem to dose back off after nursing. It’s driving me nuts!

But let’s not focus on the negative. Today really was a Sensational Sunday!

I decided to start my day having a bit of fun in the kitchen.

Dark Chocolate Mint Quinoa

It may not look like much but it’s warm quinoa with some dark chocolate and mint. Sounds weird but it was fun and tasty! Experimenting in the kitchen always makes me happy.

After breakfast I spent some time with these two…

Even on no sleep they make me smile. I found and posted an inspiration parenting quote on Babble. It really helped me put some things into perspective.

A little while later I left all the boys to fend for themelves and went to nap.

It was just what I needed.

For lunch I had some of an experimental pasta salad I made yesterday.

It was good but I want to tweak it a bit more before sharing on GreenLiteBites.

After lunch we got ready for Little Guy’s T-Ball game. On the way we decided stop at Cold Stone for a treat. I stuck with sorbet. The husband ordered a chocolate shake and ended up not liking it. HOW you don’t like a chocolate shake is beyond me. So little guy had some..

and then I had a sip. I probably shouldn’t have because after one taste it made it that much harder to give it up.

I did. Just a few sips and then in the garbage it went.

Part of me still thinks it’s a waste but it’s better wasted in the trash then in my body. Right?

Please tell me I’m right. ;)

The game went smashing! Little Guy did fantastic!

We got home ready to grill dinner but had to wait for a wicked storm to pass. So I made this to hold me over…

It was just like my Less Green More Blue Simple Smoothie but it was pink. I was all out of frozen blueberries so I used raspberries. It was just as good if not better!

While I made dinner the boys worked on robogator. It’s a LEGO Mindstorm project. They finished it tonight and I have it on video. I’ll try to post tomorrow.

This thing is stinkin’ COOL

Dinner was burgers on the grill. I had a Herb-alicious Burger and so did Little Guy! He picked out some rosemary from the garden and we added it to his. He has now officially surpassed the husband in the culinary interest department. ;)

While cleaning up dinner I caught a glimpse of Irish. She was just lounging in the wet grass after the storm.

Soon it was baths and bed for the kids and then I went out for a run.

Chart from the Nike+

THAT was EXACTLY how I needed to end my day. Me and my music.

Right now? Well I’m eating a few crunchy green beans while the husband folds the laundry.

Life is good. ;)

    Amazing day, indeed!

Whenever I found myself throwing bad food in the garbage, I always say this to myself: “OK, I’m an intelligent human being. So, let’s think about the hungry kids in Africa. If I throw away this meal, while the kids in Africa are starving, am I a bad person?. Well, maybe…. but, if I eat this instead of throwing it away, am I solving the hunger problem in Africa? If I eat it or throw it away, either choice would a repercution on Africa’s child starving problem? No. No, either choice wont solve or help at all.
So stop thinking ways to mantain your fat ways, and if you really care about starving children, go volunteer or something!”

Love the pics, Roni! And I also struggle with wasting food…but like Reinaldo says, eating it doesn’t solve the starving people’s problems. I just try not to waste and have been known to put little bits of leftovers back into the fridge rather than cleaning the dish myself. Even if I throw it out later because it went rotten, at least I tried not to waste.

Definitely a good call to throw that chocolate shake in the trash. Better in the trash than in your body.

I also had the herb-alicious burger for dinner last night. I kind of winged it (tried to follow the recipe from memory) and forgot the garlic. Regardless, it was delicious.

I wing every recipe like that just using the base idea I saw in the book/site/whatever. That’s how I hope ti inspire most people with GreenLiteBites. :)

Way to pull yourself out of your funk! YOU ROCK! Sounds like a great day! My oldest son is 5 y/o and plays tee ball also, how cute are they playing ball? I struggle with the throwing food away also but I am getting over it. And as far as the one bite, definitely makes it harder to walk away!

YAY! What an awesome day, Roni. That salad mixture looks delicious and something I love to make all the time when in a rush. You did NOT waste food when tossing the milkshake. You just gained power over it – good job!!! I learned a lesson last summer when I was with my best friend (naturally slim & fit all her life) and she bought her son a pastry. After two bites he didn’t want it and she said to go ahead and ‘throw it out’. She didn’t finish it for him or keep it for later or tell him he’s wasting food. She simply listened to his hunger cue and let it be. She said if it’s not a healthy treat why call it a ‘waste’ when throwing it out? I follow that rule now and it makes me feel empowered.

I always find it so hard to throw food away, but you’re right…better in the trash than your body. You did good!

You can put it in the waste, or on your waist. ; )

Absolutely right, it’s much better off in the trash! At first I was like…..NOOOOOOOOoooooooo! ;)

Ok, crunchy grean beans? What are those, were you eating those in the picture of yourself with the bag?

I’ve been meaning to ask…will there be a fitbloggin 12? I’ve gotta start saving now so that I can attend! :)

I’m working on FitBloggin’12 but no promises as to when/where and the crunchy green beans are something I found at Trader Joe’s. they are like freeze dried green beans. Very tasty!
