One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

FOOD JOURNALS

I’m Trying to Stay Motivated While Traveling

9 Comments 1406 views

Boy is it tough. I was finding a groove at home only to have the end of my week disrupted by a trip to Mom’s. In a good way but still, disruptive.

I’m doing my best to stay motivated, even sneaking a run in last night after the kids went to bed.

Tonight we are going out to eat and possibly visiting a local fair. I’m vowing NOT to abandon my food journal. It’s making a huge difference in my food consciousness, especially being out of my element.

Here’s yesterdays. Sorry I’m a day off. Was planning on posting last night but the Husband and I had to take advantage of built in babysitters. We don’t have that luxury at home. :)

In other news…

Food Notes
Uncle Sams with skim milk and a banana I normally go with blueberries but MAN! Bananas were awesome in with this cereal.
Orange and some watermelon We were fruit munching all morning
Light Yogurt Cup Little hungry while I waited for lunch
Burger on a whole wheat Bagel Thin and a side salad Grilling with Mom. :)
100 cal fudge pop These are amazing! Mom offered I couldn’t refuse
popcorn My way of, again, warding off cravings. Mom’s house is full of stuff I don’t by. The popcorn is my go to. Hey.. it’s better than crumb cake! ;)
grilled chicken breast, baked potato and some veggies Why is it always better when mom cooks it? ;)
Movie Popcorn and a few (many 4-5) of the Husband’s Whoppers. A movie isn’t a movie without popcorn! I saw Super 8 with the Husband. So good!
Activity
Ran 2 miles in Mom’s Hilly Community!
Water/Vitamins
Better with the water, don’t have my vitamins.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Great resolve to stay on plan and exercise even though you are away from home and out of your regular routine Roni!

What fun to have a “date” and not have to pay a sitter!

Lands End has these awesome diaper bags that don’t look like a diaper bag, even the dads feel good about toting one on their shoulder. It’s my go to gift for a new baby!

Ugh isn’t visiting your mom’s house the worst for your diet! There’s something about Mom’s house and comfort food–so hard to stay on track! I wonder if I can will ever be able to truly master it, such a struggle! Good luck!

I’m heading to my folks house next week and I’m already trying to mentally prepare myself. They don’t have internet so I think a food journal would be perfect;-)
Isn’t the banana and Uncle Sam cereal awesome? I’m going to have to try it with blueberries too. Good job on getting your run in too. My 2 things I will be focusing on while on vacation is exercise and journaling. I also will be looking forward to a date night while visiting my folks;-)

It’s so hard to stay on track out of my own home. I bring my own food a lot of the time. I’m going to see Super 8 tonight in IMAX, can’t wait!

Have you ever tried dusting your popcorn with nutritional yeast? I’ve heard it gives it a nice flavor (cheesy?) Some have told me to try spritzing it with Braggs. I’ve not tried either yet.

Great resolve Roni. And I agree, why is food always better when someone else cooks??? Just think what your boys will be saying to their girlfriends in 20 years (this doesn’t taste as good as my Mom made! :) ) Enjoy the weekend.

Paula – I haven’t! But I have heard of others doing it.
