  • Do you have a goal weight for WW this time?  Is it different from the last time because you are a new Mom and will be brestfeeding for awhile?  What was your goal weight the 1st time you did WW?  How tall are you?
  • How you stay motivated to eat healthy when your husband is not a big fan of healthy eating. Any thoughts or suggestions?
  • I was wondering how you make sure that you get enough calcium in your diet.
  • How did you do it? How did it just click for you? How do you stop feeling sorry for yourself, and stop working against yourself and just do it?

    Really excited to have your podcasts/videos back! Although I am still on a Fitbloggin’ high, I’ve been struggling to keep my eating in check and working to get back in the groove. You always have messages that help – it’s amazing how many times I need to hear something before it sinks in.

    Love that your doing podcasts again. I really missed them! I really related to question 2 about the not-so-healthy husband. My husband can eat absolutely anything he wants and won’t gain an ounce. He’s also a big junk food fan and doesn’t really want to eat vegetables and healthy things. I think you gave great advice. I also think it’s important to feel like you can say “no” without feeling guilty about it. If my husband asks me to go out for pizza and I’ve already splurged a lot that week, I say “no” and I do my best not to feel guilty about it .(That part is a challenge for me.) I also don’t attempt to change him and his eating habits. One of the tough things for me is the fact that, although he tries, he really has very little understanding of what it’s like to be overweight and trying to lose weight. That’s why I think it’s important to have an outlet like a blog or WW meeting or forum or friends who DO understand what you are going through.
    Question 4 almost made me cry. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve felt like that. I was just at the end of my rope and had tried everything under the sun to lose weight and just kept gaining. It is super frustrating. Allison is not alone.

    Thank you for the video. I agree as far as the last question is concerned. I feel like that almost every day. Every time I make some progress… whether it’s for two days or for 4 weeks, there is always a downward spiral where I end up back where I started if not worse. I always start to question myself: “Do I really want this? How can you really want something yet consistently allow things (myself) to get in the way? I must not really want it.” But I know that’s not true. I have been reading your blog a long time and I know that there have been times when you said that just accepting yourself as you are was a key step in making any kind of long-lasting change. I’ve tried so many times to do that, to accept myself, but I think each time it must be a little white lie I am telling myself and the real me knows it’s a load of BS. I don’t know how to get past myself either, so I am glad that Alison addressed that question. I also loved how to differentiated between weight loss and fitness. I HATE to exercise but I think it’s always because I do it because I feel I HAVE to as part of the weight loss efforts. I am definitely lazy in the athletics department, but I am certainly not someone who sits on her but all day (for the most part). For me, the weight gain is truly in line with what you said: out of control eating and binges. I put too much pressure on myself to lose the weight so I say to myself, “ok, only salads for lunch, healthy dinners, and workout X amounts of time this week.” When really, all the working out is not going to do me any good until I deal with my eating habits and where they stem from. Thank you again. This was one of those “gung-ho” mornings that started at 7:15, and by 9:00 a.m. I was already talking myself out of sticking to it. Why do we do this to ourselves?!

    Thank you so much for answering my question, Roni. I had completely forgotten about that email and reading it took me right back to that time in my life. Mostly, I’m still there, but I think a light has turned on in my brain. And I think you’re right about accountability (well, you’re right about everything else too, but this especially, hehe). I’ve always thought I need to be accountable to someone else, but really, I need to be accountable to myself. Your words were very comforting and helpful – I am definitely going to save this video for times when I need it. I hope other people do the same thing since I know I’m not alone. THANK YOU!! *hugs*

    I started weight watchers saturday and I found your blog when googling for weight watcher blogs. I am SO happy I found yours! We have so much in common, it’s crazy. I just had my 2nd baby April 7th (was due April 5th so I’m thinking you were due about the same time?). Even so much about my labor with my second was similar to yours lol

    Anyway, I just want to say thank you for such a great blog, resource and motivation. I have done WW in the past and now have 47 pounds to loose to get to my goal weight. I’ve lost 2 pounds this week which I’m thankful for, but sometimes it’s difficult since I would easily loose 6 pounds first week on any diet. I have to remind myself that I am nursing too this time around! Even though I was 15 pounds away from my goal weight before I got pregnant I was getting really fit and worked out intensely 6 to 7 days a week. It’s been tough easing back into working out this time around because I wish I could instantly go back right to where I was and pick back up but it doesn’t work that way lol

    You already look great and I look forward to watching you achieve your goals!

    I love your compromise on ordering pizza this week. Since you’re currently obsessed with your grill, I would HIGHLY recommend grilling the pizza! It’s soooo easy AND the house doesn’t get hot. I roll out the dough (I use Trader Joe’s also) and toss it directly onto the grill. I flip it when it looks done. Put the toppings on while the other side is grilling. When I grill pizza, I use a lot less cheese. Sometimes, I will grill zucchini and summer squash along with the first side and toss it on top when I flip the dough. I put a thin coating of tomato sauce, toss the veggies on top, and add some feta. SOOOO delicious!

    Welcome back! Awesome on the maintain. I always say, a day we maintain is a day we don’t gain. I’m in a similar boat, but fighting against the inevitable menopausal weight gain, so days I maintain are a huge victory! Thanks for all you do Roni!

    I saw on facebook that you posted a turkey burger recipe so I clicked the link and while I was waiting for it to load I was saying out loud “Please be a video, please be a video” My husband laughed at me when I was bummed there was no video. But that’s ok I came here and watched your ask roni video which I really enjoyed. I’m so glad you are making the ask roni videos and posting recipes on greenlitebites again. I totally understand how demanding a little one can be though. Can’t wait for more videos!

    thanks for taking the time for your vid/podcast! one of your statements reminded me that during my last dr. visit, she told me that ALL women need supplemental vitamin D and to spread the word because it is not something we get enough of in our diet and is essential for calcium absorption. of course check with your dr. for your particular needs.

    You thought no one would watch the video? Wha? We LOVE your videos Roni, oh Oprah of the fitness/WW blogosphere! Somehow (like Miss O), nearly all women can relate to your posts, even though we’re different in many ways. Great video, missed them SO much, but understand the hiatus — beautiful, gorgeous baby boys come first! Congratulations and welcome back!     Thanks for your thoughts on eating out.
    I have recently lost nearly 30 pounds
    eating out at least 75 percent of the time
    and people can not believe it!
    I really think my eating is more focused and controlled in a restaurant.
    I know that seems odd, but for me it is true.
