Training is full steam ahead, even though my run was cut short tonight. The husband came home late from work and I couldn’t fit everything in. It just got too late and too dark.

I did get a weight training session and I ran 1.5 of my 3 mile goal. I’m going to hate myself in the morning, but I LOVED it! I forgot how I like to lift. It’s been a long time. I think I stopped when I was 4-5 months pregnant.

I also weighed in today. I’m trying HARD not to say….

"Only."

As is I’m ONLY down .2.

Nope.. I will not allow myself to have that mentality. It’s still moving in the right direction. I feel great. I’m making the best choices I can. I’m working out. Why let the scale decide if I’m succeeding?

I AM succeeding.

I sent this out on twitter this afternoon.

Screw you scale. I don’t need your support. I’m doing fine without you anyway.

And I meant it. Soon Mr. Scale will see the err in his ways. :)

Here’s the food journal. Click here for my weight progression so far and here to see my training schedule.

Glad you had some time for you and also got back to some great lifting! Looking forward to your uses with the miracle noodle. :)

  2. Brandyjo says:

I <3 your attitude!! I really need to get into the groove and start working out again, but I am just so tired all the time. I know it is a result of my lack of working out, but I just cant seem to find the motivation I need. You help me out for sure though, so THANK YOU Roni, for all your encouraging words :)

You just reminded me of this poem that my WW leader read in a meeting one day, apply this to your .2, it works the same!

    Only One Pound
    Hello, do you know me?
If you don’t you should. I’m a pound of fat, and I’m the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.
    Want to know why? It’s because no one ever wants to lose me;
I’m Only One Pound, just a pound.
Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds or fifteen pounds, but never only one,
so I just stick around and happily keep you fat.
Then I add to myself ever so slyly so that you never seem to notice it, that is until I’ve grown to ten, twenty or even more pounds in weight.
Yes, it’s fun being Only One Pound of fat, left to do as I please.
So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying “Oh, I only lost one pound.”
( as if that were such a terrible thing!)
For you see, if you do this you’ll encourage others to keep me around because they will think I’m not worth losing.
And I love being around you –
your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.
Happy Days!! After all, I’m Only One Pound of fat!!!

Doesnt it make a HUGE different to have an event to train for and a training plan. It puts something in motion bigger then our excuses! I have only ran a handful of times this pregnancy, not counting the first marathon when I didnt know I was preggo yet! But I already have my 2012 schedule planned in my head to get me back into things with a half marathon in Aug and my second full in November. Im due this december so that gives me 11 months… fingers crossed!

  5. Rachel says:

Roni, don’t forget that when you cross-train the scale might slow down b/c your are building muscle back up. So you are right to forget the scale – you’ll look better and that matters more anyway! : )

  6. Dani says:

Succeeding? Roni, you are a rock star! Have a fantastic weekend.

  7. Good for you for not letting the scale rule you! It’s hard not to sometimes that’s for sure! Keep up the great work, you’re doing everything right!

  8. Mehgann says:

    You tell that scale.

Seriously, though, I was thinking about it this morning, and how the scale can cease to be a tool and instead become a crutch. In the end, the number matters so much less than how you feel, and if that number is making you feel worse, and the things you are doing to make your body are making you feel better…well, I think you can see where I’m going with this.

  9. LisaM says:

Flip side on the scale issue – I’ve been a BAD girl eating-wise the past few days, but the scale hasn’t wised up and bitch slapped me yet. I need to stop stepping on it for a few days, to keep that little devil off my shoulder that whispers maybe things have changed, and I can keep eating this way without gaining!

  10. Barbara says:

I have try those miracle noodle. sorry I do not like them.
They say to rinse and re-rinse but still when I chew them, It seems like I was chewing rubber.
    Hope you are enjoying them.

  11. Roz says:

A loss on the scale is a loss, no matter how big or small. The way I see it, it was a VICTORY! Have a wonderful weekend Roni!!!!

  12. Amy says:

Oh my goodness! I just looked at your weight progression page for inspiration– you’re done 20 pounds in just three months! The rate is uneven, but the progress is unmistakable. My baby is just four weeks old today and I’m not quite ready yet to deliberately start losing, but I hope to follow in your tracks when I am!

  13. Cheryl says:

roni, I would be interested in your weight lifting routine. Do you do full body on weight training days or do you switch it up and do lower body one day and upper body another? Do you lift heavy or do you do light weights with higher reps. I am really getting into weight training and I have read The new rules of lifting for women, but honestly, I am almost 50 and not planning on getting into any compettions or anything, just trying to keep moving and my bones and muscles strong. Will you share with us your weight training thoughts and what you do? Thank you…

  14. I have been eating a lot of blueberries lately! I even made an awesome blueberry cake last week!

I can’t eat those miracle noodles-they just don’t taste good to me. Variety is the spice of life and it’s great that we don’t all like the same things.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend. :)

  15. Jeri Lyn says:

    Hi Roni,
Ok, my weight for Thursday 6/30/11 was 151 lbs. That’s a 4.8 lb. weight loss for me in 7 weeks. I’m trying really hard not to say UGH, just/only or I’ll start over AGAIN after the holiday weekend.
I will own my 4.8 lbs & try to be proud. At least it’s not a gain & it is a loss.
Hope you have an amazing holiday weekend.

    Jeri Lyn

Your story and how you track all your workouts is impressive. I work with people to help them lose weight, though I have never had to (I had to put myself on a strict diet and workout plan to gain weight). What have you found is helpful to tell people who are stressed about their weight?

  17. Katherine says:

I like what you said in your twitter message. I stopped using my scale awhile ago. Seeing the constant fluctuations really messes with my brain! So, I only weigh in once a week with Weight Watchers. Since I have over 150 pounds to lose, I really need some form of measurement, but I certainly don’t need to beat myself up!

  18. Stacy says:

The first Miracle Noodle linky is broken, Roni :)

  19. roni says:

Brian – That’s a pretty open question. It depends on the person and what their story is.
