Weigh-In, Easter Plans and the BEST Quote Ever!

25 Comments 2347 views

WOW so much to tell you. First of all today was weigh in day. During the Weight Watchers meeting my leader, Donna, said the most amazing thing. At least I think it’s amazing. It took me YEARS to figure this out on my own and she summed it up in 2 short sentences…

It’s not what we do occasionally that makes the difference. It’s what we do consistently.

How true is that? It was such a good quote I couldn’t even wait for the weekend to share it.

Ok, so now time for my weigh in results. I had an awesome week! Down 3.6 lbs! That’s a total of 11.8 pounds since stating to track my weight after baby (4 weeks) Click here to see my weight progress page. Of course some of this weight is fluid and junk my body is still cleaning out after being pregnant for 9 months but I’m still patting myself on the back.

I’ve completely embraced my food journal, finding what works for me. I’m integrating at least a short walk daily and hoping to get my first post-baby run in soon. And I’m making smart choices while still indulging in the little things. That means my "consistently" is…

  • making conscious food decisions,
  • integrating activity into my daily life, and
  • enjoying the little things so I don’t feel deprived.

That’s the weight loss recipe that works for me. It worked when I initially lost the 70lbs. It worked when I maintained the loss for 5 years and it’s working now to drop the baby weight.

WHY did it take me so long to figure that out?!

Ok, enough weight talk.. I have a dinner to plan!

Easter is this Sunday and I’m cooking! We are going to have 8 adults and now, 4 kids total. It’s going to be an awesome family event! On the menu…

Breakfast

For breakfast I’m going with a Frittata. I experimented with one years ago and have since perfected it. Basically it’s a large omelet baked in the oven. I put onion, peppers, broccoli, spinach, ham and bacon bits in it. The family all share it and I have whole wheat english muffins on the side. It’s a fairly easy breakfast that doesn’t have me slaving over the stove. If I feel up to it I might also make some quick whole grain pancakes.

Pickin’s

We don’t do lunch, since we eat fairly early but I’m planning a simple snack spread. This year I’m all about the veggies. I’m doing a tray with peppers, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, broccoli and for the dip? Roasted Garlic Hummus. I’ll also have a side of creamy Italian for those non-hummus people.

We will also have a fruit bowl of clementines and apples. I’m avoiding the cheese platter since it’s such a temptation for me but I may put out some whole wheat crackers and pitas that can be dipped in the humus for something more substantial.

Dinner

My traditional easter main course is Pork Loin. I normally marinate it and cook it on the grill but unless we buy a grill in the next 2 days that’s not happening. :( We still haven’t bought a grill for the new house. Regardless, I’m making the pork. I’m even thinking of brining it this year!

On the side I’m going with

Dessert

I’ll be making cupcakes based on the beet and spinach ones. I’m thinking of splitting the cake mix and making 1/3 spinach, 1/3 beet and 1/3 carrot (still need to figure out). That would give me 15 fun colored cupcakes. If it works out I’ll post it on GreenLiteBites, if it doesn’t I’ll send the husband out to buy a pie. ;)

As for candy, I don’t buy any on Easter. The grandparents bring enough that I don’t feel the need to add to it.

WOW! It totally helped getting that all out of my head an on paper, well screen. Now I need to make a list for the store.

ok, it’s time time clean up. Remember all the work I did on Sunday. Ummm yea. You can’t even tell now. the house is a disaster! It’s just not possible to entertain a 5 year old, care for a newborn, work and keep house. Something has to give. Right now it’s the house but I’m about to shift gears and close my computer.

Have a great day!

Congrats on the loss! Today is my WI day as well. Our leader had that same quote. There was a little more to it and I meant to take note of who said it but of course, I didn’t and now it’s totally slipped my mind!

I am printing out that quote and putting it in my tracker book, on my desk, on my mirror and maybe on my forehead! It’s just what I needed to hear. I’m on week 3 of WW and doing pretty well. 5.4 lbs gone! Happy Easter!

Awesome quote. I am struggling right now with WW myself! I had to stop going to the meetings do to financial stuff. Once money gets back on track, I am for sure back! I miss the meetings and my small group of friends that I met at the meetings. The meetings really do matter! I am trying on my own and the quote you shared really did hit home for me!
    Happy Easter!

    Roni,
First I want to say congrats on your weightloss so far! That’s awesome!
Next, I wanted to tell you that I’m loving reading your post-baby posts and dealing with weightloss after pregnancy.
After my first pregnancy I lost 60 lbs. and am now currently pregnant again and having a fit pregnancy this time around.
I am still working out and eating right and plan on continuing to do so throughout my pregnancy.
But I am a little nervous about post-body this time. I know it is what it is, and I can lose the weight, hell, I’ve done it before, but it’s still a daunting task and it’s not easy.
So I’m loving that I get to read your struggles/successes and it’s really uplifting to know that it can be done… again!

Thanks for inspiring so many people, me included!

So true! I think I’m just starting to realize that! And that it’s about what you can live with! It has to be changes that I can live with in the long run!

I love Weight Watchers. I am down 210 pounds. Tonight is my weigh in night and think I lost a pound. I have been a lifetime member since October after reaching goal. I am still looking to lose another 3 pounds though. I am so happy it is working for you. Congrats on your success. Happy Easter! Keep up the great work. Joanne

Yeah, great going! LOVE the quote! I’ve learned this the hard way too, and why is it that we always think that one little thing will undo all the good we’ve consistently done??!

Great Easter menu Roni. It’s so easy once you plan the menu and write it down.

I adore that quote. I have struggled to put that idea into words and your WW leader said it brilliantly! Thanks for sharing it.

Okay, I know you’re really smart and careful and a loving Mom, but I just have to wonder about the safety of dieting so soon after giving birth, especially while feeding. One of the things about fat loss is that it causes toxins that were stored in the fat to be released into the body, along with dehydration and what about adequate fat in the milk? I realize you dieted quickly after having Ryan, but you’re a lot smaller now. Are doctors on board with this? (I looked at a few sources online, and I think it was mayo clinic or similar that had a “wait 6-8 weeks and no more than 1.5 lb/week” guideline). I know new Mom’s get too many people up in their business, but I’m concerned.

Here’s the deal… All I’m really doing is food journaling and weighing in. I’m not restricting cals too much by tracking every detail. I’m not depriving myself. If the weight is coming off it’s coming off. My son is gaining (which I track) I’m nursing AND pumping 2-4 oz a day for storage. I’m pretty sure my supply is fine.

If there was a problem I’d go see a doc and get his opinion until then I’ll be trusting my instincts and doing what I feel is best for me physically and mentally.

Hey girl! I’ve been super busy, too, and since I have two children (ages 2 and 4), I completely understand the level of craziness! Hang in there–you seem to be handling it pretty well. I’m really struggling righg now with fitting in my workouts–it is so hard and I’m just not willing to give up sleep to do them in the mornings…

Read this post earlier and then I was browsing just now and came across the CUTEST idea for serving carrots & hummus. Thought you might want to take a peek. http://www.tasteandtellblog.com/2011/04/carrot-patches/ (I don’t know this food blogger, but loved this idea so much!)

Awesome weigh in Roni!!!! Love the quote.

A WW leader I had 10 years ago said something that has always stuck with me…

Don’t let a relapse turn into collapse.

So, even if you don’t make the best choice, don’t let that turn into a week of bad choices, just move on.

    Have a happy easter!
