Yet again I have a fussy baby on my hands. ugh. It seems 10pm is his "witching hour" as my Great Aunt would say. I should have blogged about this on Babble today but instead I posted all these cute baby photos. They made me smile. :)

Anyway, just wanted to post my food journal real quick and celebrate a NSV (Non Scale Victory) I’m sure other Mom’s can relate to.

My day started as it always does except with a game of Uno mixed in.

I’m loving spring break! I forgot how much fun it is having Little Guy home in the mornings.

I had a 2 egg, 1 egg white western omelet, no cheese and with spinach. Delicious!

After breakfast we headed to the Mall. I had a Green Tea and hung out with Evan while Ryan took a Lego class.

After class, we splurged on Dippin Dots

I love these things!

So does Little Guy but he has this amazing ability–like his Father–to stop eating when he’s full.

He handed me his cup with some left…

and I DIDN’T finish it.

Ohhh how I could have.

But I didn’t.

This is a HUGE NSV. I’m normally the garbage bin when it comes to food. I just eat it becuase it’s there. I’m trying though!

Oh and I’m also proud of not going out to lunch while we were there. Something I do way too often. Instead I came home and cooked this…

A Cheesy Salsa Tuna Burgers, click here for the recipe. I’ve been a bit burger obsessed lately.

A few hours later I grabbed a Larabar. ALMOST forgetting to record it in the journal. So I snapped this pic real quick on the computer.

Tonight, I whipped up a quick dinner for the family–pork chops, brown rice and broccoli but I forgot to snap a picture. :( It was a good looking meal too.

Oh well, I just finished a light yogurt cup and now I’m ready for bed.

Oh! And I finally posted those pink cupcakes! Click here to check them out. And if you haven’t already, click here for those baby pics. I can’t stop LOOKING at him. He’s so stinkin’ cute!

Alright.. I’m off.

Hooray for you! I know that kind of victory… and the more you have, it seems the more they come along, like a snowball effect! As we make strengthening decisions, our path gets easier :)

Rini, I know exactly what you mean about finishing off the food. My husband and I have had this discussion many times. I am constantly amazed that he can just stop eating French fries, for example, When he’s full. I, on the other hand, can’t stop until they’re gone. Putting into perspective, my husband is a recovered alcoholic and he feels the same way when he sees me drink half of a drink and stop. He says “how do you DO that? How can you just leave it?”. LOL. Food addiction isn’t any different from alcohol addiction really.

Good for you! I’m just learning to step away when I’m satisfied. All the while chanting to myself, you can have it again on another day, over and over again.

  4. Dani says:

Congrats on the NSV! I know just how you feel about eating it just because it’s there.

  5. I’ve still never had Dippin’ Dots. I guess I felt it was somehow an affront to nature to eat the ice cream of the future before the future actually got here. I’d hate to be the one who caused a rift in the space-time continuum.

Congrats, that’s a big deal to leave food instead of just finishing it. That’s something i struggle with every day, it’s hard!

Btw, both of your children are beautiful, and I just love the latest baby pics!

  7. Great NSV for you! When you pay attention and eat with thoughtfulness it makes such a difference. So often we eat without thinking about it ore even enjoying the moment. Good for you!

Spring break with the kids is so much fun. Your adventures with your boys brings back fond memories of when my kids were little.

The time passes quickly so enjoy and savor every wonderful minute with them that you can!

  8. B-Fry and I had those tuna burgers last night for dinner. They’re one of our faves! :-) And yay for not finishing Little Man’s Dippin’ Dots! That hd to be tough!

    LOVE the faces photos. =)

BRAVO Roni! Great NSV! And one of the hardest of course!!! :)

  11. Way to go on the not finishing it! I’m so bad about that myself, and reading your NSV will inspire me next time my son eats only a few bites of delicious homemade mac n cheese, leaving the rest innocently staring at me from his plate. :)

  12. Sam says:

Roni, it may seem like small potatoes to some, you not finishing Ryan’s icecream but I have a 4 year old who eats like a bird and is constantly leaving a ton of food on his plate for me to pick at and eat just because it is there. So I totally understand what a NSV “not finishing it” is … so congrats!! Also wanted to tell you thank you for my new favorite breakfast – oatmeal and grapefruit! When I first saw you posting this combination I thought how gross is that! Then I got brave and tried it yesterday and couldn’t believe how good it was – so thank you for the idea, it is always nice to get a new breakfast recipe =) And love the pics of Evan – I have an Evan too and he is so sweet – must be something in the name ;)

OMG. I LOVED dippin’ dots! I usually get the middle size cup and share with BOTH of my boys, who loves those things as much as I do. I don’t get many that way… You are looking fabulous!!!
