One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Food Journal and Weekend Quote: Clean House

11 Comments 1497 views

My house is a DISASTER. Seriously. It’s bad. WAY worse then normal and let me tell you normal is pretty cluttered. The pictures in this post don’t even do justice to the mess I have at the moment.

It’s time to clean. Not because I have to but becuase I WANT TO.

“There’s something about a clean house, a clean room. It does wonders for the psyche.”
-Brian Sansoni

I feel the disorganization is effecting my ability to relax and focus. As I sit in my messy living room, I find myself so overwhelmed I’m not sure what to do with myself.

I can’t start another week like this. As part of my Sensational Sunday tradition, tomorrow I’ll be cleaning house. I’m actually really looking forward to it.

As for today, I did nothing but spend time with the family. It was fabulous!

One the food front….

For breakfast I made a kale egg scramble.

I simply scrambled 2 eggs and an egg white with some onion, chopped kale and a tablespoon of bacon bits.

As a late morning snack I whipped up a green smoothie

…using a ripe pear, 1/2 of a frozen overripe banana and a crap load of spinach.

Lunch was a Poor Man’s Egg Salad Sandwich (click here for recipe) and a side of fresh, raw green beans.

Then I grabbed one of my experimental pink easter cupcakes.

I will be sharing the recipe on GreenLiteBites this week. It’s an interested one! Much like our Green Cupcake idea.

It was miserable out so this afternoon we took a family outing to the mall for some lego time and a family walk. I’m happy to say I’m 6/6 days on my walking challenge!

While at the mall we decided on a quick dinner at Subway.

I had my standard 6 inch ham/turkey on honey oat with tons of veggies, a small squirt of sweet onion teriyaki dressing and the dry spices. No cheese as I’m trying to lose. When I’m maintaining, I add it back in. On the side, a bag of baked chips and of course, a water. :)

I’m now ending my day with a bit of popcorn. I don’t buy the microwave stuff anymore. Instead I make my own with kernels in a brown paper bag like this. It’s cheaper and I can season anyway I like.

That was my saturday. I’ll be back tomorrow as I plan on making it a true Sensational Sunday.

By the way, I’m hoping to do more food journal posts like this. It just all depends on how tired I am at the end of the day. Little Bean has been keeping me up a bit and I have to steal sleep when I can. The days I don’t get to it you can still follow along on @RonisFood

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

I can’t wait to see how you colored those cupcakes! I also love the poor man’s egg salad, since I actually prefer when the yolks are intact, not smooshed throughout. I never liked mayo anyways–totally a miracle whip girl and I would rather do without having to add a ton of goop to the ‘salad’.
I hate when my house is messy…it stresses me out. My room has been messy since I got back, so I finally tackled it and it is like I can breathe better! Keep up the sensational weekend;)!

I add some roasted peppers, jalapeno, Canadian bacon, spinach, or lightly limp Kale or other greens plus LSU extension services tomato slices. I use the Everything Bagels.

Beets? :) Sleep while you can!

can ya stand some motherly advice (maria shut your pie hole) IIMHO to stop the clutter my motto is, “everything has a place” it might seem like constant picking up, but it really is more like constantly putting things back where they belong. Hey your allowed to have a little disorganization, you just had a baby, get the rest you need. But I hope my little suggestion helped…

A clean house does make such a difference in how organized and motivated I feel! I’m sure it will be great to get it all clean. Sounds like you had a great day spending time with the family.

I feel better if I can go into a new work week with laundry done and the house straightened up. It’s almost like an outward expression of an internal state – if things are tidy, it usually means I’m on top of things, feel like I’m in control, etc. If things look like something out of a documentary about tornadoes, it’s usually a sign that I’m frazzled, crazy busy, etc.

It also makes me more likely to cook and make healthier decisions of the kitchen is ready for meal prep, etc. and not also suffering from tornado-itis.

PS – One of the last things I had before I got a case of the stomach flu about a month ago, was a green smoothie. Thus I have developed an aversion. I only just started eating chicken again last night, as that was the last thing I ATE before the SF. But the green smoothies were pretty yummy! :)

Any blogger who uses the words “a crap load of spinach” is a favorite in my book! Love your site Roni. All the best in your cleaning.

I just spend the past 30 minutes reading over your blog and your weight loss history and find it very motivating. I just had my third child right around when you had your second one and started weight watchers (never done before) as well. I’ve got quite a bit of weight to lose as I still have baby weight from the seond pregnancy I never lost. I will definitely be following your journey as you lose the baby weight again and look forward to losing it along with you!

I’m with ya on the house clutter. I can’t function normally in a messy house. And with a tidy house, I feel like I can do anything!

Of course, my house is usually in some state of disaster, and thus is my mind. Ahhhhh….
