Today started just like yesterday except I got to send the 5 year old to school! As soon as he got on the but Little Bean and I were off for our very first run. Click here to read a bit about it on Babble.

As I say, it was a rough 1 mile. I definitely lost a lot of my running stamina but it felt AWESOME to be out there and Little Bean seemed to like it too. He stayed away the whole time just chilling in the stroller.

When we got back I had breakfast…

It was the last wedge of Frittata I made on Easter morning plus a side of mango and some tea.

After breakfast I got to work on conference-y stuff. I’m neck deep in room set ups at the moment.

For lunch I made this little gem…

It’s a A Cuban-esque Sandwich. Very yummy. So yummy I think I’ll be making another tomorrow. :)

I had 3 snacks before dinner.

A banana.

Some Cheese Apple Kabobs.

Sounds strange but I’m telling you… TASTY! and fun. :)

And a leftover Spinach Cupcake

We decided to go to out dinner BUT we walked there.

It was awesome out!

For dinner the family split some edamame.

I had some miso soup

and brown rice sushi

Now I’m ready for bed!

Oh! and I did just grab a yogurt cup while writing this up. ;)

whoa…that sandwich looks seriously ah-mazing. I might need to make that!

Love the jogging stroller! Do you use the carseat when you take him f or a jog? Do you know what brands it is compatible with?

  3. Miz says:

I GRINNNNNNED when i saw this post fly through my twitter stream.

YAY for first runs with new babies!!

  4. roni says:

Lindsay – I didn’t use the carrier and I’m not sure which ones are compatible but I know you can connect them. They have a picture of it in the book.

I decided just to let him recline. You can pad with blankets and they do have a 5 point harness and head bumper. So really (in my opinion of course) the carrier isn’t necessary.

    LOVE Sushi! :)

That is awesome! I am so glad you are getting back out there! I am down for another 4 weeks (surgery ;) ) and am ITCHING to get out and hit the pavement!

And Edamame? What exactly does it taste like? It looks a lot like sugar snap peas…Do you eat it raw? cooked? I’ve been on the edge of trying to decide if I want to try it…

  7. roni says:

Edamame looks like snap peas but you can’t eat the shells. You suck out the bean from the pod. So fun and tasty. They are cooked. If you go out for japanese one night give them a try!

You can also buy them whole or shelled. For home I buy them shelled and just toss them in boiling water for a minute.

    Is that a BOB stroller?

  9. Tina says:

Awesome post Roni! Adorable picture of Evan, looks like he’ s waving. Congratulations on getting back into that first run and WALKING to dinner instead of driving. You are SO lucky to live a walk away from a Sushi place – it’s my favorite dinner-out treat.

    You’re an inspiration :)

Looks like little Bean LOVES being in the runner/stroller. Your sushi dinner looks fantastic! Sushi is SOOO good! Have a great day, good luck with those room set ups!

  12. Congratulations on your first run post baby! You will get your running groove back in no time, I am sure.

I have never seen brown rice sushi! That is awesome.

I have to tell you that I had a dream that I went to help you out with the new baby. It was raining and you had invited all these other mom’s with newborns to come over for a picnic. We had to have the picnic inside so we threw blankets down on the floor and picnicked away!

I am way past the baby stage as my kids are in college so I was the oldest one at the picnic!

Clearly I have been spending too much time blogging and working on my new blog, as the blog sphere has taken over my dreams!

  13. Hubby and I had edemame at a Japanese restaurant on our date this past weekend! I was so proud of us for such a healthy choice (he got pork dumplings too, but oh well). Wish we had brown rice sushi here… I’ll have to ask them about that.

The sandwich looks AWESOME! I saw it when you tweeted it at lunchtime yesterday, and I was like “that must be Cuban!” because of the pickles. That’s it, we’re having pork loin next week. Need some leftovers!

This is not a comment regarding this post exactly. My apologies for high-jacking this thread, but I REALLY wanted to let you know how much you motivate me, especially today when I didn’t even know I was looking for motivation.
See, I’ve been a long time follower of yours. In the past year I was promoted to a department management position in retail. I don’t have a regular schedule and can be working a shift anytime of any day. I had become frustrated with trying to find a routine and during the winter decided to cut down on computer time by dropping out of many of my favorite blog communities and such. Although it was nothing personal, yours was included. (But, I still popped in once in awhile to seek a recipe and catch up on your news.)
This evening, I am working a closing shift and while taking a break from my afternoon house cleaning, I decided to see what you, Ryan, Evan and The Husband were up to these days. So, I started here with this post and began to look back into your archives and found several other blog posts that address EXACTLY some of the issues I am having even though I am at least 20 years older than you! LOL Namely, routines, counting points, healthy eating, weight loss and getting my exercise in. Basically, my well-being. Today, I found the motivation I needed to get back on with my healthy living. I had just about thrown in the towel as far as my weight loss went. I did not like the new PointsPlus plan at WW and, had in fact, just quit attending the meetings I struggled to make it to anyway. (But, that’s another story!) You “gave me permission” to continue on with the old plan as I knew it and knew worked! LOL (I won’t tell if you won’t!) Also, you reminded me to take small steps and count the little victories, for even baby steps will get you there and small victories will win the battle!
Thank you so much for being the inspiration that you are! I will gleefully add your blog to my priority list as you have proven to me that I need YOU!

I would just like to *nod in agreement* to the post above from Tammy – this blog inspires me daily (if you’re having an excellent day or blah day, they always have a positive impact). I’ve been reading since 2007 and sometimes feel like I post comments too much, lol, but how else are you to know we’re out here reading!? Thanks Roni.

  16. Hyla says:

Aww, he is a ham! Those snack bits look good! Im going to try them with the kids!

You have an award on my blog!

    Tammy & Tina –

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

I needed a pick me up today. :) Sometimes I do wonder why I keep doing what i’m doing, so it’s great to get feedback. I really appreciate it.
