How could it not be when I’m so blessed with a family like this…

I’m going to cut this short as I’m exhausted but I wanted to check in since I didn’t post in a couple of days. I planned to but with company and the holiday time just got away from me. And frankly, I barely spent a minute on the computer. It was actually a nice break.

Dinner went exactly as I planned it. My favorite dish was…

Like I said, it’s a salad based on this idea I posted on GreenLiteBites. The Dressing came out great and everyone seemed to like it!

I also loved, loved, LOVED the potatoes.

I made them exactly like this but added some sweet potatoe as well. They were actually TOO good. I had to pawn the leftovers off on my Father-in-Law. I can’t be trusted with that many roasted potatoes in the house and a husband who doesn’t eat them.

Overall it was a good day on the food front. When you serve lots of healthy things it’s kind of easy. I only fell apart AFTER everyone left. Honestly, I had a tinge of "old Roni" mentality creep in after I ate a peanut butter egg.

"I might as well have ______ I already ate _______."

"Well, there’s only X number left I should just finish them so I don’t have any in the house tomorrow."

I don’t think this mentality will ever fully go away.

So, I did eat a wee bit more candy then I should have. You’ll have this. As we talked about yesterday…

It’s not what we do occasionally that makes the difference. It’s what we do consistently.

Tomorrow’s a new day and it’s back to doing what I do consistently. :)

In other news…

I’m weird. I know. ;)

Ok, time for bed.

Hi Roni, I’ve been a fan since 2007, and in the UK, but never posted before, but todays post really inspired me. I love the way you described and recognised the inner war that goes on with food when every one had gone home. This is me also! I think it’s great that you can move on recognising it is consistent behaviour that is the problem. I’m surprised and in a way relieved that you think you will always have that mentailty, (relieved as I also still battle with this very problem with almost the exact same words) but like you say it is the consistent behaviour that will win out. Thanks for a fantastic blog.

These food photos look delicious and so healthy. I have to try the roasted potatoes – I love that there’s carrots and onion in there – I’ll have to throw in full garlic in mine as I can’t resist! Thank you for continuing to post the old/new WW pnts, it’s awesome. I have a weigh-in tonight and I think it’s going to be a great one. Beautiful family photo by the way, it’s fun reading your Babble blog too as DH and I are thinking about starting our own family.

Get out of my head please! LOL I swear you pulled this one from my brain: “Well, there’s only X number left I should just finish them so I don’t have any in the house tomorrow.” I do this all the time and then “tomorrow” I hate myself for doing it!

Totally with you … except I did it on Sat and Sun … last week I lost 7.6 and now I am back up 5 …. so I feel abit defeated and all that hard work! But I am back it today! Thanks for the encouragement … its great to have your sites to come to and get inspired

  5. I agree with you, Roni – sometimes I don’t ever think that old mentality will ever go away. We just learn over time how to manage it better and better! I often say to myself “Today is a new day with a new opportunity to make good choices! ”
You have a beautiful family! So glad you had a wonderful Easter!

Right now? Nothing but walking when I can. I hope to start running soon.

  9. It’s funny how easily those old thought patterns sneak back in!

Looks like you enjoyed good food and a happy family day.Life doesn’t get any better than that!

Glas you had a great Easter!

I hate that old mentality, it got me too. I little Easter bunny face, had to have a cake for my sister’s b-day, little more rice at nice.

    I’m glad it’s a new day/new week!
