Word-Less Wednesday – Going Green

Simple Green Cupcakes

Real quick as I had the busiest day. You know I can’t just post a picture and run anyway. ;)

First–and I just need to get this off my chest–I had an OB appointment today and I’m up 9 LBS. That’s 9 POUNDS in 2 weeks! I’m trying hard not to let it get to me. I’m up a total of 47lbs with 4 weeks to go this pregnancy. Considering I gained 70 with my first I’m ahead of the game but still. It’s a tough number to swallow.

HOWEVER, I feel fantastic and that’s what matters. I even walked 3 miles today in about an hour. I’m sleeping well and doc says all looks good. Including my blood pressure and the Little Beans heartbeat. Next week they check my cervix and I get one more ultrasound. I can’t wait!

Other then that I’ve been busy with conference stuff but I did find time to make some GREEN cupcakes in honor of St. Paddy’s day. You’ll never guess what I used. Well, maybe you will. The Little Guy did! Click here to read the story.

Ok, I’m out. I have a dinner date with a friend. That was a few LESS words than normal for this Word-Less Wednesday, No? ;)

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

I gained all my weight with my second pregnancy at the very end. It all evens out, Roni…you look great, you’re feeling great, your baby is healthy…it’s all good! Keep up the positive attitude…I’m so impressed with the way you’ve kept active and healthy and I seriously cannot believe your baby is almost here!!! OMG….I can’t wait. =)

Roni – You are doing GREAT – keep it up and dont let the numbers on the scale get to you. With my first I gained 60lbs and had someissues so exercising was not really allowed yet with my second I exercised until 2 weeks before delivery – 5 days a week – they said iw ould give birth on the elliptical – anyhow I gained 60lbs AGAIN and ate healthy blah blah so what I am trying to say is that I think your body sometimes just does what it needs to do – so dont fret – you will have this baby weight off in NO TIME!!!!

Thank you for sharing your anxiety about the pregnancy weight gain. And thank you for being such a good example of staying active and eating healthfully through a pregnancy. You should be really proud! I know it won’t completely quiet the anxiety but – with just 4 weeks left – you’ve maintained a great activity level with bootcamp and walks and have not used pregnancy as an excuse to go all out with eating AND managed to fully set up a nursery. Go you!

Hi Roni. As a mom of 3 (OMG, 3!!!) young kids i can tell you that majority of the weight that is put on in the last weeks of the pregnancy is not “real weight.” It’s all baby related and/or water weight.
you are doing awesome and should be really proud of yourself.

Roni, those 9lbs are for Evan, not you. He is getting chubby and healthy, getting ready to enter this world. I cant wait to meet the little guy. I have to say that you look so beautiful and happy. I think you were meant to be a mother again.

As you well know Roni those 9 pounds might not all be real, perhaps you are retaining a little water.

As active as you are I know you will drop the pregnancy weight in good time. Even so I also know what a mind game the number on the scale is for those of us with weight issues.

When I was pregnant with my second child our daughter was 4 years old. The hospital had a sibling class where she took a doll and learned about holding the baby the proper way giving support to the head. How to change a diaper, how to leave the soft spot alone and so on. It helped her to take charge of him and she lovingly shared her knowledge with everyone who came to visit her new brother!

I can just see your little guy being the same way with his new brother!

I haven’t even started with the major gain yet and I am worried, too, but I keep reminding myself that it’s all fluid and blood :) You have 40% more blood flowing through your body! I think you look awesome and your baby bump is adorable.

I gained 35 lbs. w/ each pregnancy and lost 25 lbs. overnight after giving birth. But I was not healthy like you – I had bedrest and was so weak. I’d be curious to see how much you’ll lose overnight – seriously, you’re not gaining FAT! ((( hugs ))) I remember how the scales freaked me out too.

Roni, I identify with what you’re feeling 100% I know it’s impossible to take that feeling away, especially since you are a successful weight loser, but something an OB said on a Mom show yesterday was interesting. He said something like “Yes, theoretically you only need to gain 15lbs for a healthy baby, but I believe that women are genetically pre-determined for the amount of weight they are going to gain during a pregnancy.” Now of course this doesn’t account for all people who just throw caution to the wind (myself kind of included!) but it does help take some of the guilt away if you think about it that way. You have been doing everything right! I’m right along side you losing weight after baby!

    Hi there Roni!

First of all, congrats on the pregnancy! I am sure that you are very healthy for your baby. I have to say that walking 3 miles in an hour is really impressive! I know a lot of people that won’t be able to do that so well done :)

As far as the weight goes, I don’t think that it should ever worry you. As you said, the important part is to be healthy and feeling great!

Like the green cupcakes idea! Very original…I am sure the baby enjoyed that.

Thanks for the post and I will be sure to come back for more.

Take care and hope all goes well for you.

Well way to go on the 3 mile walk! That exercise continued is so beneficial.
