One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Weekend Quote: Change the Voices

19 Comments 2053 views

This quote comes straight from the comments on my recent Note to Self post. Chelsea–who I’m SO happy came out of lurking–was nice enough to lift me up by sharing this amazing line from the Pink song F**ckin’ Perfect…

“Change the voices in your head, make them like you instead”

If you haven’t heard the song, it’s a must listen for those who struggle with body image and self-worth problems. Yea, she drops the f-bomb but in a way I think she needs to. It makes it more powerful. More emotional.

Now Pink – F****n’ Perfect joins the list of songs that immediately make me cry along with Everclear’s Father of Mine and Five for Fighting’s 100 Years

And NO it’s not pregnancy hormones.

I’m just a sap. :)

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

I LOVE this song! What a great song to pass on to others who don’t see themselves in a positive light!

I…love…Pink….. for songs like this and so many others. Thanks for sharing this. BTW, I love that you aren’t afraid of offending people by sharing a song like this. :-)

I have been having some not-great internal dialogs lately and when I saw that comment, I wanted to look up the lyrics but I heard those lyric websites put all kinds of crazy cookies on your computer so I didn’t. So…thank you! This was great….

I think this song is wonderful. A friend of mine acted like she should be ashamed she liked Pink. I think it is because Pink says the things we all think but we have been brainwashed into being “good girls”. Unfortunately that makes us feel horrible about ourselves more often than not. You are amazing Roni and I read your blog daily because you make me feel like my trials and insecurities are normal and that makes them be not so bad. Keep up the great work and inspiration (and remember you don’t have to be f**kin’ perfect to be an inspiration!)

I LOVE this song and I LOVE Pink! I never thought the words in songs had meaning, but I have to honestly say, her songs do, especially this one! Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE PINK! She is definitely my favorite newer artist. ( I am a classic rock gal)My oldest son loves her also since I listen to her so often. I think she sends such a positive message about just being yourself! My BFF always teases me and tells me if it isn’t after 1990 or PINK I wouldn’t know it! lol Not true but I see why she says that.

Thank you. I really needed that. I have recently fallen into a pit of devious, negative self talk…… I am really awful to myself. It hurts. I know it´s because of the sickness I am fighting (well, a bit part of it anyway) but THAT doesn´t make it any easier. Definately a new favorite. Thank you.

Thanks for post that – I have been struggling with self talk talkly … just what I needed to hear!

Love this song! There is also an edited version on ITUNES so you can play it around the kiddos.

I also love this song! It’s a staple on my warm up play list for lifting weights.

    Going right on the ipod…TODAY!

I love this song! I’ve definitely listened to it a lot lately. I actually found a radio edit version that replaces the f-bombs with “less than.” I posted it to my facebook wall the other day, especially since I’ve heard a few college students I’m around talk badly about themselves. It breaks my heart and hacks me off all at the same time.

I’m always thankful when strong women are expressing themselves and at the same time inspiring others!!!

    thanks for sharing Roni!

Awesome song. Awesome meaning. I watched the video the other day with my almost 12 year old daughter. I don’t let her watch MTV on a regular basis..only occassionally, if I am close by and I can see and hear what is on…this video came on…and I watched and I was touched…to say the least. I think my little girl was too…and isn’t that what it is all about? “F-bomb” or not!

Roni – completely different genre of music, but also look at the lyrics to Mirror by BarlowGirl
