One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

A Fruit-Filled Sensational Sunday with a Bassinet and a New Site!

17 Comments 2132 views

I refused to start today on laundry duty. I just didn’t have it in me. Instead Little Man and I decided to put together Little Bean’s bassinet…

Many people are asking me how Little Guy is handling the idea of being a big brother, well let me tell you, he’s taking to it like a natural!

We chatted all morning and he excitedly helped assembled the bassinet.

He’s so proud and excited. It brings a tear to my eye.

After we showed off the bassinet to the husband it was time to experiment in the kitchen.

Kim sent me this link to about using frozen bananas to make a soft-serve style treat.

My first day experimenting was a HUGE success.

I don’t have time to post about it on GreenLiteBites tonight but I will get it up there ASAP! I swear!

In addition to the banana treat I also indulged in my latest obsession…

I seriously can’t get enough of it. I’m not sure if it’s the pregnancy or what, but I’ve had maybe a grapefruit a year for the past 10 years until recently. Now I’m up to 4-5 a week. Thankfully I think they’re in season so they are tasty and cheap. I’ve been buying them by the bag.

Little Guy isn’t the biggest fan. I’ve gotten him to try a bite a couple of weeks ago but it was too tart. He also tried the juice but again, too tart. This morning we had another conversation about them and I got him to try the juice again. His reaction was priceless…

However, he kept taking sip after sip. He even said, "It makes me make a face but I keep sipping it!"

I don’t think he wanted to admit he kind of liked it. It was cute. This is why getting kids to keep trying is so important. I just talked about this on GreenLiteBites when I answered a question about feeding picky eaters..

After breakfast we just lounged around a bit and played on the computer until it was time for a meeting with my friend the Designer. We needed one last get together to make final edits. The publication date is a little out of my control but I’m doing my best to have it available by the end of the month.

After the meeting I stopped by Dunkin Donuts to grab the husband a coffee and I fell prey to glorious smell. I decided to buy a half a dozen but only 1 of my favorite kind. They rest were for husband and Little Guy.

When I got home we watched football and ate donuts. It was a glorious lazy afternoon but I couldn’t sit still for long. Soon I was at Aldi’s with Little Guy stocking up on groceries for the week.

My day has ended with a burst of creative inspiration. I’ve had a site idea bouncing around in the old noggin’ for–funny enough–nine months. I finally gave birth tonight…

Poop Butterflies is a small creative site for me. For some odd reason I feel I need yet another place to express myself. As if I don’t already spew enough of my thoughts all over the internet. ;)

ok, must run.. It’s late. I think I’m having a bit of pregnancy insomnia.

Grapefruit is so good right now! I’ve been eating it with a pinch of salt sprinkled on then some sugar and then I brulee it with the kitchen torch:) the salt will cut the bitterness.

My daughter was five when my son was born. She was so excited to be a big sister, and she was very helpful, like Ryan, before and after the birth. Good times are coming!

It’s gonna be such a cool experience to have an older child with your newborn. I bet Ryan is going to love it!

My WW leader recently shared a grapefruit idea that is very yummy…cut in half, precut the little sections…then put a bit of cinnamon and brown sugar on it and pop it under the broiler for a few minutes. The sugar melts down into the fruit and the warmth makes it SO JUICY. So yummy on a cold day!

Raw banana soft serve is THE BEST. It’s the go-to dessert in my house. You can be so creative with it and eat it with no guilt whatsoever. I’m not kidding when I say it helped me to overcome my sugar addiction. Now I can “indulge” when I want to, not gain weight from indulging, and actually feel good that I am feeding my body something that it can use, perhaps even need, as opposed to refined sugar which literally ages the body. Who the heck wants to age faster than we have to? Good for you for continuing to push further and further into the world of natural foods. Your audience will thank you for it in the end.

    What a darling bassinette!
I just cut up about 8 bananas and have them freezing so I can have them on hand for smoothies and ‘ice cream’.

We are all about the banana soft serve in my house too! 100% bananas, 100% delicious! When kids want ice cream, this takes two minutes to whip up and is loved by all!

I can’t wait to find out how to make the yummy bananas–and I LOVE the new site. I also can’t stand when people are being petty and mean just to be petty and mean. Someone once pointed out to me that when you make fun of someone that what you are really doing is saying you are better than they are. That just really captured the essential nature of it for me.

Your son with the grapefruit juice reminds me of my 3yo son with lemons. We don’t normally have lemons at home, but if we go out to eat, where they sometimes have a lemon wedge in the water, he’ll take it and bite into it. He makes the craziest face when he does it, but he just laughs and laughs and laughs, and does it every time.

Oh, and Poop Butterflies may just be the best blog name ever :)

While I have been following you for a little over a year and well after it was decided we were done with TWO, I am happy that your are staying true to the healthy diet and exercise with Evan. I thought I was going to be able to do that with my #2 and well, we’ll just say that having a 14m old + first trimester and so on, ending with a 23m old and a new baby didn’t go in my favor.

You are such an inspiration to me now, even though I am not having any more children. I love that you have inspired me to continue to change not only my habits, but my husbands as well(he grabbed an apple out of the bowl I keep on the counter the other day!).

You may be the only blog I visit regularly, watch the pod-casts and take something from each and every one. Thank you for that!

You’re on Yahoo’s home page today!!

Roni, I came to your blog from a link on Yahoo Health. You are proof that humanity can change, that the will to be better is as powerful as we want it to be. Thank you for the inspiration.

Plus, I think you are very beautiful :)

I would love a grapegfruit but I can’t. Interact with meds.
I love you video about WW ice cream. You looked so relax, like you been doing it for years.
thank you for bringing some joy into my day.

    Hi Roni,
I want to tell you that you inspired me to start a Blog, journal whatever I got it out there. My hope is that it will help me to be accountable and maybe inspire someone else. I want to healthier and ready to make a serious change in my life. I liked that you said it wasn’t about what you looked like in a bathing suit. Also that you posted the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. I am hoping I too can make a difference for the better. Thank you. Denise.

I’ve been reading your blog for quite a while now (about 18months maybe?) and find your very inspirational. I think that “watching” you gain weight throughout your pregnancy makes your success story more real and relatable. Your focus on staying healthy, instead of the number of pounds you’ve gained is very refreshing! I just gave birth to my second three months ago and am working on shedding my last 10lbs from pregnancy, so I’m excited to be reading about your post-pregnancy weight loss journey soon. Keep up the good work!

I’m not pregnant and I have also been obsessed with grapefruit in the last couple weeks! I actually just got back from the store with 10 pounds! Well you see both of my daughters are also enjoying them! I already ate one today with breakfast, but just talking about it is making my mouth water for another one!!!
