What's Cooking in my kitchen?
-
Sometimes I'll make something and then get obsessed, making it over and over and over again. It happened twice last week. First with The Most Amazing Bowl of Oatmeal EVER! I now have to stop myself from eating it every single morning. I decided to make a deal with myself [...] -
Four years ago I posted a photo journal of "The Toddler" and I making pizza. FOUR YEARS AGO! Click here to see it. Honestly, it's blowing my mind for 2 reasons. 1.) I can't believe how old my baby is and 2.) I can't believe I get to do it all over again with [...] -
I'm not kidding. I could not believe how good this was. A warm bowl of heaven. The combination of banana and chocolate chips is a favorite of mine. Add in just a touch of peanut butter and it's the perfect trifecta. Not only did it taste amazing, it filled me [...] -
I can't say enough good things about this book. The author doesn't hit you over the head with stead fast rules or try to sell some new catch phrase approach -- if I hear the phrase baby-led weaning one more time my head is going to explode -- she simple shares her thoughts, experiences and [...] -
I've recently discovered the amazing combination of cheese and dried cherries. I know, it sounds weird, but seriously… good! The other day I smeared some Laughing Cow Light Swiss on Cucumber slices and then topped with a cherry. It was a fun, sweet twist on standard cheese and crackers. Well, cheese [...] -
If I was a good blogger this idea would have been published BEFORE the Super Bowl not during it. I made these today to have a little fun. Surprisingly, The Husband liked them even though he didn't eat more than one. Why? Because he's strange like [...] -
If you read my weight loss blog you know I'm battling a bit of back and neck pain right now. I'm starting to feel a little better but those first few days where rough. Being the head chef of the household, this meant we ordered in a couple of times. I'm [...] -
I'm LOVING Pinterest! I can just scroll all day long looking at food photo after food photo. I wish I had more time to peruse! (I'm RoniNoone there by the way?) The other day I pinned a Portabello Mushroom pizza and was immediately inspired. It's such a simple idea and so light. [...] -
The other day I found myself craving an Orange Julius. Are they as popular as I think they are? Growing up we had an Orange Julius at our local mall. It was always a treat for us at the end of a family shopping trip. Once I was old enough to be [...] -
So I'm a little breakfast nutty at the moment. Little Bean LOVES eggs and I find myself cooking them more and more. This morning I decided to go super light (after last nights chocolate overload) and it was totally satisfying for just over 100 calories! The trick to making [...] -
A few weeks ago I saw Chef Michael Simon make a raw kale salad on The Chew. He sliced beets up real thin and cut the kale into ribbons. Then made a vinaigrette out of red wine vinegar and olive oil. I was immediately intrigued. So far I've only [...] -
I've had this idea for a quick creamy chicken dish for a few days now. It was time to give it a shot. The whole family LOVED it. I'm not joking. The only complaint came from Little Guy who declared his hate of mushrooms yet again BUT he ate everything around them. Fine [...] -
I made this on a total whim yesterday as I had leftover avocado after feeding the baby and leftover Spaghetti squash cooked from the weekend. I roasted the squash to serve with my Chicken tips instead of potatoes and it was AMAZING! Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. So I'm sitting there staring [...] -
It's post holiday season. You know what that means? Leftover Crescent rolls to experiment with! Every year for Thanksgiving I buy a few canisters. It's the only time I do as I can't be trusted around them. Let's just say I'd beat you in the How-Many-Crescent-Rolls-Can-You-Eat-In-One-Sitting game and leave [...] -
Last week the kids and I tried parsnips for the first time and I've made them 3 times since. I wanted to figure out the best way to roast them. Yeah, that's it, the best way to roast them. You'll buy that right? Right? The truth is, I'm obsessed. I found myself [...] -
Yesterday just felt like a good day to stuff an acorn squash. I had one sitting on my counter for quite some time and it was just begging to be cooked. Since both husband and child don't like it I made a solo meal just for me and, well, it was DELICIOUS! [...] -
I bought a fennel bulb on a whim for the holidays not knowing quite what I would do with it. Of course I forgot about until yesterday when I was rummaging through the fridge trying to figure out what I wanted to make for breakfast. I pulled it out and stared [...] -
I probably should have warned you I was taking a holiday hiatus. I've been soaking up every moment of family time imaginable these last few days, leaving no time for anything else. Not even blogging! Shocking I know. ;) So I return not with a new recipe, per se, but to [...] -
Here's a quick idea for when you find yourself with a spaghetti squash but don't quite know what to do with it. Come on. Admit it. That's happened to you too. It's sure happened to me! I roasted this squash on Sunday... [...] -
I'm not sure if this will be a crowd pleaser, but I liked it and thought I'd share in hopes it inspires you to have some fun with kale. I loved the combination of sweet pear, earthy kale, salty bacon bits and creamy hummus. The only issue with the wrap was [...] -
I'm going on day 2 of counting Weight Watcher Points and I'm already inspired to come up with light, healthy meals for myself. It's like I needed the constraint of points to motivate me. Isn't that weird? Anyway, all morning I was brainstorming what to make for lunch. I wanted something flavorful [...] -
I have a friend who patiently cleaned, peeled and cubed a fresh pumpkin and then selflessly gave me some. Scratch that, a TON! I would have never even thought of doing something like that! But now that I have it in my fridge the ideas are flowing. First, I roasted some [...] -
CHRISTMAS COOKIES! YAY! Sorry. I'm so excited! Little Guy and I had tons of fun making and decorating cookies today. It may just be my favorite part of the holiday season. I loved it when I was a kid and now I get to do it with my own kids. [...] -
This may be my simplest idea yet, but it was so tasty and satisfying I had to share. Plus you guys know I'm a Laughing Cow Community Leader so I'm all about sharing fun ways to use their products. You guys may also know how I feel about pausing and making [...] -
I made this on Thursday. THURSDAY! I hate when I can't post something I've eaten within 24 hours. It just bugs me. Not sure why, it really doesn't matter when I post it, does it? Anyway, I did whip this up to cure a pizza craving and I couldn't be happier. [...]

I love the name of your little baby boy. My husband and I just had a baby in July and his name is Evan too. I am so happy for you!
I love the name! I think it’s a great choice. :)
I love the name Evan! Congats on finding it!
One thing I have to mention on having a goal to keep you motivated: you a training for delivering a baby. Every little bit you do now will help with labor and recovery.
You are such an inspiration Roni. when I have kids I hope I can be as good of a mom as you are.
I love how you came up with the name. Such a family affair even if Ryan forgets he helped :-)
Love the name. My son’s name (Killian) also means “Little Warrior” in Gaelic.
You mentioned what motivates you in terms of exercise is training for the next thing… You’re training for the ultimate endurance competition known to man… labor and delivery!!! Does that help to motivate you? The only time I’ve ever been consistent with exercise was while pregnant because I knew labor and delivery was going to be hard work! :)
I love the name Evan. Had my daughter been a boy her name would have been Evan. My Dad’s name is John, he’s Welsh, and my maiden name is Evans so it was perfect for us.
YAY!!! Love the name (as I mentioned last time!)! :D
When I was pregnant w/ #2, we didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl, so we picked out names for each. We had Izaac picked out for a first name for a boy but could not agree on a middle name (I wanted a bible name). Hubby came home from work one day, walked in the door, looks at me and says “Izaac Jeremiah”. I looked at him and said “That’s it!!!” From then on, that was our boy name…so when #2 was a boy, we were THRILLED! It’s funny b/c we didn’t LOVE our girl name but it was the one we could agree on….I think somehow we knew it would be a boy. So when you both said, yeah that’s the name–reminded me how we picked out our boy name. :) Love the name! And you are still so darn cute!
As far as the exercise goes, think of it this way–you ARE training for something–Labor and Delivery! The ultimate event to train for. If I have a #3, I fully intend to work out as long as humanly possible b/c I know it will help me w/ labor and delivery and recovery. So maybe that will motivate you?? You don’t have to run….walk, ride the bike, boot camp, yoga, pilates–just do what you are comfortable with. Good luck!
I also love the name! I wanted to comment on your comment about not exercising for weight loss, but for the goals you set. I am a big runner, but look at my running time as more for my spirit, mood and my alone time….just that it helps my outlook on the rest of the day. I would consider your motivation to be that you just feel good after burning off some energy!
Love the name!!
Nice name. I like when sibling names sound like the “belong” together. Ryan and Evan – that’s got a nice flow to it.
Love the name and the sweet story behind it!
PS you just look so beautiful!
Evan Robert…Love the name. So cute. :o)
Love the name! Very pretty.
With our son, we had a girl’s name all picked out and set (which we will use should we ever be blessed with a daughter) but no boy’s name. We debated for several days and had several candidates. We realized that our son’s name was our first initials-Connor (C for Courtney) and Glenn for my husband. So, as soon as I said that to my husband, we said “That’s it. That’s the name!” Connor Glenn is almost 2 and 1/2 and the joy of our lives.
Evan is a great name! Congratulations.
I’m mom to Evan Joseph! Congrats.
Love the name!
Congrats on making it more than 1/2 way through. You look fantastic.
Great name! Love it! & you’re still looking wonderful!
D
I love the name! Ryan and Evan go great. It was me that suggested the idea, my cousin did that so now I suggest it to everyone I know who is having a baby:)
Hi Roni,
Oh, I love that feeling when “the” name makes itself known. I totally remember with my kids when a name suddenly just felt right. Such fun! I agree with the people commenting before me, you are in training for a marathon of sorts. Perhaps if you researched all the best exercises for preparing for delivery and set up some sort of “training schedule” it would feel more like an official fitness goal to work toward if that might help your motivation. No matter what though, thanks for being such an excellent role model for healthy living! Best wishes to you and Evan!!
I love the name! I even love it more knowing the meaning of it. Congratulations! Love the baby bump…so cute!
woo! i ran that same turkey trot!
We named our oldest Evan Patrick, so I love your choice! He’s 21 now and I’ve always been so glad we picked the name Evan, it’s strong but soft at the same time.
It’s funny that you were thinking of Ethan too, because that is what we named our younger son. People always get the two names mixed up though, because they are very similar. Ryan and Evan sound nice together, but there won’t be the constant confusion.
Our boys are six years apart and it’s been great having the age difference, they get along great.
I LOVE the name Evan. So much! I actually have a cousin named Evan, so I might be a little biased. Congrats on finding the perfect name, and WOW you look amazing. Way to go on your Turkey Trot, too. You are and always will be such an inspiration!
I smiled when you said Evan was the name since that is my fiance’s name. But then I laughed when you said the middle name. He’s Evan Robert too! If yours grows up to be a paramedic, there is something strange going on.
Love the name Evan, I think it is great- and you’re right, when you find a name you really like, you just know- congratulations on the Turkey Trot, you are really inspiring!
Love the name! You are too cute :).
By the way, since you like training for something, Pilates is supposed to be GREAT for labor and delivery. You might consider checking that out.
Yay for Evan!! I had my Evan in February of this year after having a miscarriage in November for 2008. I really wanted to name him Sawyer but my husband wasn’t 100% on that, and then one day he suggested Evan Sawyer and I fell in love with it – He is the sweetest little boy – he is quiet and shy and full of smiles. Evan fits him perfectly :) … His big brother Layton loves him and calls him by his first and middle name – why I have no idea but if you call him Evan he will gladly tell you – no! its Evan Sawyer! lol … Anyways – congrats on picking a great name – I am sure your Evan will be just as sweet as mine :)
Roni! Evan was our ‘boy name’ we landed on too! We are having a girl so that went out the window, although i know a girl named Evan too. So you KNOW I approve, haha! We picked a name last week too! Maya Marie :)
Hi Roni,
LOVED the name! I’m 19 weeks along and just found out today that we are having a BOY! :) This is our first child. No names yet, so if Ryan wants to help me out, that would be very welcome. :)
great name
I think what your Mom was saying about carry in the back is that your Butt (sorry) is getting larger.
When I had my children the girl I carry all the way around like you and my son was like the football al up front.
Again great name
oh my butt is WAY bigger! lol It’s really the reason I couldn’t fit in my jeans the first trimester.
I’m a mom to Evan Matthew – LOVE the name!
