One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Weekend Quote: Only One Pound

15 Comments 2265 views

A friend sent this to me and I had to make it the Weekend Quote. You know you are ALL guilty. Admit it.. How many times have you said… "ugh.. I ONLY lost a pound."

Hello, do you know me?

If you don’t, you should. I’m a pound of fat, and I’m the HAPPIEST pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why?

It’s because no one ever wants to lose me.
I’m ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound! Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is, until I’ve grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it’s fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.
So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying,

"Oh, I only lost one pound."

For you see, if you do this, you’ll encourage others to keep me around because they’ll think I’m not worth losing. And, I love being around you – your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.
Happy Days! After all, I’m ONLY ONE POUND!

P.S. I know the end gets a little weird there but for me this is the concept… If you are trying to make changes and reach weight loss goals OWN your accomplishments. Whether it’s a pound lost on the scale, a week of cooking your own food or a taking a walk after dinner. Don’t sell yourself short. Ever.

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.

Great reminder to us all to always celebrate the small losses! Heck, I even cheer for the .2’s & .4’s lol :)

This is a very great reminder to 1) appreciate the loss of “only one pound,” and 2) to recognize also the power of gaining “only one pound.”

After all, it takes 3500 calories to gain one pound of fat, which means it doesn’t happen over night.

    Great post, Roni. :)

Very nice! So true! We don’t give “one pound” credit like it deserves!

I love this poem… I have read it many a time in my multiple times on WW and it always resonates with me. Thanks for the reminder!

    Thanks for a great remind!

Most of my weekly weight losses have only been a pound, but together it certainly adds up. I admit that when I read how others can lose 3 or 4 or 5 each week I am just so envious. I am one of the slowest weight losers ever! But I will take the 1 pound a week anytime as each pound leads me closer to my goal.

So funny! I thnk I’ve seen that before, but didn’t even remember. This concept requires constant reminding… Thank you.
I’m so glad I found your blog. I’m just starting to finally get this weight off and you are an inspiration!

Isn’t it funny that one pound seems like nothing when you lose it, but everything if you gain? I’ve lost .2 for 2 weeks straight, but you know what? At least I’m loosing! I’ll take “only one pound” any day :)

Great post, but I must be the weirdo here because I’d be thrilled to lose a WHOLE 3500-calorie POUND!! It’s dang hard work just to lose a pound!! :-)

This is soooo true! Celebrate the small losses!

This post is great and truly “food” for thought. I can identify with the “life of a pound of fat” and how it loves to be fed and hangs around and then multiplies. Lots of truth in those words!
