The Most Perfect Sensational Sunday Ever!

Really! It was!

The day started with a 5k in Annapolis. My official September event. That’s makes 9 months and 8 events–DARN February and that stupid blizzard for throwing me off my goal! Still, if I finish the year 11/12 that ain’t too shabby. I can’t help that we got dumped on with 4 feet of snow.

The 5k was fabulous. I felt GREAT and had a blast running with my friend Carrie. We finished around 35:36. I’m settling in nicely at a 11:30 minute pace. It’s about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes slower than my average pace before getting pregnant.

One question.. WHY do they always have cookies after these things? I mean LOOK at this…

It was Deeeliscious. I had a hard time not eating the other one I brought home for the little guy. I also had a banana and split a bagel with Carrie. Who also happens to share my love of the everything bagel. :)

After the run I headed home and had lunch. Yesterday I experimented on a homemade tomato soup idea using up the plethora of tomatoes I have from the farm. I’m happy to say it came out delicious!

As you can see, the husband and child were having fun making a Fun Fusion. Our latest craft addiction.

Of course I had to make a grilled cheese to dip in the soup. I mean what’s tomato soup without something to dip in it? ;)

Soon it was car washing time. It was a beautiful day so we decide to take advantage. I cleaned the insides and the boy took car of the outside…

Afterwards we played the silly band identification game. Ryan pulled them out and I had to guess what they were. He was surprised every time I got it right. It was hysterical.

Before I knew it, it was time to make dinner. I decided to try and make beets for the very first time. This is why joining the local farm has been
so awesome. I get things I wouldn’t normally buy in the grocery store. Not once have I noticed beets and thought… hmpf.. let’s have those for dinner tonight. But since I got them in the share, well, we might as well!

I have to say.. they came out delicious!

You’ll have to read how I made them and the whole story on GreenLiteBite. The husband’s reaction was priceless. PRICELESS! lol

While waiting for dinner to finish, little guy and I played Mastermind. I modify the rules for him as he’s a little young but it’s still super fun!

After dinner we tossed the football while we walked…

to the park…

Then is was bath and bed for little guy and now it’s Mad Men for Mommy.

A perfect ending to a perfect day! :)

Hope you had a great weekend!

That sounds like a fantastic weekend! I wanted to share with you my weekend also.
Last fall, you inspired me to begin running and I ran in my very first 5k last October. Since that race, I have become addicted to running. Yesterday was my very first half marathon!! I finished much faster than I expected which was a fantastic feeling of the improvements that I’ve made in the past year. Although, my body is wondering what the heck I just did. :) I am looking forward to my first 5K anniversary on 10/2 to see just how much time I have shaved off my first race. Thanks again for your inspiration!! I, myself, have been able to get my husband and a few other friends to run with us. You’ve started a movement. :)

Ahhh, those silly bands. They have over run my house! It looks like your weekend was as awesome as mine. Hanging with the rugrats (aka my little boys) at the zoo and the water park, and just plain kicking it.

I would end with hope all is well, but it obviously is!

Fantastic. I love that he is learning a love for mastermind at such a young age. BEST GAME EVER!

I’ve only run 3 5k’s, but I’m wondering about the cookies??? It’s strictly apples and bananas around here. Although at the last 5k I went to the start was delayed and an announcer kept saying there would be snacks along the way. You know, if you couldn’t really make it through the 5k without eating. We had a good time picturing ourselves grabbing a snack and trying to eat and run. But alas – bananas weren’t handed out until the end of the race.

Ami – I run one every year where they have fresh baked cookies.. It’s insane. Normally I stick with the banana. :)

OMG I love Fun Fusion! I remember making those with my grandma when I was little! I think I still have one of them floating around actually. Not gonna lie, I’m SO tempted to order that bucket for myself on amazon LOL!!!

Seriously Nicole… I find myself doing them when the child isn’t around. They are super relaxing!

Great day! We have the silly band insanity at our house too. Reading your (entire) blog (and some other awesome bloggers) totally inspired me to finally get over the mindset that, “I can’t run” and I’ve officially started the C25K. So far so good. Thanks!

That’s AWESOME! Have you found any local events? The events really seal the deal for me. It’s how I got addicted! :)

I have walked a 5K in the past, but now my goal is to actually run one. But I get the event appeal…it was great to be in that crowd with that energy. I’m trying to recruit a friend to run/walk a 5K here in Tampa in October ( http://tinyurl.com/2es966t ). I’ll still be doing C25K, so I don’t think I’ll be able to run the whole thing, but I want to do the event.

    Roni:
i had to laugh at myself… when I read your words “banana and split a bagel” — all that registered in my mind was “banana split”! LOL. Must have been the icecream post above that I read first in your RSS feed.

That and I have food on the mind! Congrats on the perfect day!
