One Mom’s Journey from Fat to Skinny to Confident

Photos: OBX At Dusk

I’ve been dabbling more and more with natural light photography since getting my Cannon. I by no means am an expert but I’m getting more and more comfortable with some of the semi-manual settings like Shutter-Priority (Tv).

If you don’t know, shutter speed is the speed at which the picture is taken. The longer the shutter is open the more light gets in. This is great for low light situations but your subjects have to be fairly still or the extended shutter causes a blur effect. Sometimes this may be what you want for effect–think blurred headlights on a highway shot–but most of the time you have to choose still subjects.

All of these were taken in the Outer Banks on the Shutter-Priority setting with 1/30 or 1/50 at dusk. Notice the waves in the picture above and Ryan’s blurred hands, you can see the result of a slow shutter…

I’d love to hear your story or thoughts on mine.

However, to prevent the massive amounts of spam I was receiving I have turned off comments on any post older than 5 days old. If you'd like to leave me a note regarding this post or anything really try me on twitter (@RoniNoone,) my Facebook page, or even IG (@RoniNoone) I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. I never thought I'd have to do this but it's gotten way out of hand and comment management has become simply too time consuming to manage.
