Chart taken from Nike+ web site after sync. Click here to see how I did it.

Here’s my mini recap…

  1. It took a lot to get me out of the door this morning.
  2. I wanted to break out of the 2 mile rut I’ve been in. (haven’t run much past that in a few weeks)
  3. Set the Nike+ to 4 miles.
  4. Ran the first two and then walked for a minute while I decided if I should simply turn around and go back or take the long way and face the… dun dun dun… hills.
  5. I decide to take the hills. Mostly because I don’t feel like turning around.
  6. Hills were killer! Had to stop and walk one of them.
  7. Post hills I slowed down again. Maybe this was the wrong decision?!?
  8. Naaaa I’m almost there. Let’s kick up it a notch.
  9. Arrived back home, out of breath and feeling like a MILLION BUCKS!
  10. I learn yet again… You never regret a run. Ever.

that is so true! You may not always be happy with your performance, but you’ll still always be glad you laced up.

  2. Runeatrepeat says:

Love it! Good for you Roni! I’ve been running for years now and have never regretted a run :)

  3. stickyheels says:

“You never regret a run. Ever.”

MAN ain’t those the truest words ever spoken… now if only I can remember those words in the wee hours of the morning…

  4. Bill says:

Nice job pushing through…it’s really hard to break out of one of those ruts. I can’t say I’ve never regretted a run (I’m sure there has been at least one), but I totally love that feeling when you get done with one after nearly cutting it short. Super BADASS! :)

  5. Jill says:

I was NEVER a runner but your posts inspired me. Last night I did day 1 of C25K. I felt like a million bucks after that little bit. Can’t wait til this evening when I can do day 2. I REALLY enjoyed it!

  6. roni says:

Jill – That is AWESOME! So glad you are giving it a try. I never thought I’d be a runner and 2 years later I’m STILL loving it!

  7. Helen says:

I’ve negotiated myself through many runs over the years and you’re right – never ever have I regretted one I’ve finished!

  8. Christine says:

That’s so true. I’ve never regret a run that I’ve done, either. But why is it SO FREAKING HARD to work up the motivation to just do it?!

  9. carrie says:

    awesome run!

  10. Melissa says:

So true, Roni! The runs that you struggle to get done, sometimes have the greatest sense of accomplishment at the end!

  11. Loren says:

You’ve inspired me, too. I’m on day 3 of C25K. I did NOT feel like a million bucks after the first day, but I am REALLY out of shape. It was not as hard the second day, so I was motivated to continue because that felt like progress. Today I feel like a quarter of a mil, so I’m getting there. I’ve already looked up 5Ks in the area for September and October and am looking for a partner to help keep me motivated until then.

  12. Stacey says:

Good post and so true. I ran a half marathon a little over a month ago and have not done much since (2 2 mile runs). I need to get back out there! Thanks for the reminder :)

  13. Shannan says:

    Way to go, Roni! :)

Loren, I felt compelled to tell you that in late 2008 I did the C25K and wrote about it, the good and the bad. I’ve have friends tell me that it’s helped them get through it. You should be able to get to it from clicking on my name, if you’d like to. (I don’t mean to take anyone off this page, though. I just thought maybe it’ll help. It’s like a journal for each running session.) –Shannan

  14. Kate says:

So true – just so hard to remember when you first wake up. :)

  15. Loren says:

Thanks Shannan! I just read through the whole thing, and I am sure I’ll come back to it many times over the next several weeks.
Roni’s page is already a habit. I don’t think she’ll mind that you sent me to your page, especially since your motives are good.

  16. roni says:

Of course I don’t mind! That’s why I blog! Love connecting people! :)

  17. Shannan says:

That’s great, Loren! I hope it helps in some way. Thanks, Roni. :)

  18. I’ve never thought about it that way, but I’ve never ever regretted a run. Awesome mantra! I’m going to use that to get my workout mojo back.

  19. brandi says:

    YOU ROCK!!!!

  20. Sophia says:

Great post! You’re very inspiring! . I just found this 5 reasons to start running now and I think I’m convinced! Keep up the great running work!

  21. Nycgirl0501 says:

That’s is so true. I am love with running and it’s only W1D3 of the c25k program!

  22. amanda says:

So very true! I did my first 2mi after a loooooooooooong hiatus and it was AMAZING! Hard, I questioned myself, fought the urge to vomit(late, heavy dinner), but I DID it and it was SO worth it!

  23. Rebekah says:

    Way to go!

question… do you ever get shin splints!?!
I absolutely love running and i would do it ALL the time, but i keep getting shin splints. BAD. i was told i needed to get better shoes. Did that. let them heal. started running again and they were fine but they have slowly but surely crept back in.

  24. roni says:

Rebekah – Did you actually get measured? I think that’s as important then “a good shoe” Once I was analyzed for correct shoe support it hasn’t been a problem. Plus as your muscles start to strengthen they will happen less and less. I haven’t had them in well over a year but I did get them a lot the first few months.
