This post was so inspirational that we joined a local CSA farm today! I'm so excited. Ours is not as affordable as yours (darn it anyway!), but still less expensive than the organics at the grocery store. YAY.

Sounds like a fun weekend! The stuff you got at the CSA looks cool. I actually looked into something like that before where they will drop off at my workplace. However, it was over $700 a season (so more than $100/month), so I decided not to. If I find one that's more affordable, I'll certainly try it.

Brandi - I usually run 2-3 and then do weights. In my opinion that is more beneficial then cardio-ing yourself to death.

I also don't wonder if my workouts are "good enough" I do what I can when I can and that's all. Once I cross the line into that type of thinking (like I have to something or minimums or whatever) it's not fun anymore. Again.. that's just me.

Are you weight training at all?

When you run 2 or 3 miles in the AM is that your only workout that day?? I have just started running, I have completed 2 5K's and I can run up to 5miles. My pace is slow. I can run at a 5.5 to 5.7 on the treadmill. I just wonder if that is a good enough workout for me?? I feel like I need more cardio or something after I do only 2 to 3 miles? I have at least 35 more lbs to lose.

CSA is really popular down there. My daughter lives just outside of DC and also bought a share a couple years ago. This week she is home and brought all her goodies with her so we get to eat them! Her farmer allows anyone who has bought a share to go for a final picking at the end of the season. She usually goes with some friends and they clean up!

I've twice forgotten to turn my little nike+ off--both times I remembered in the car, on the way home! It does make for a sort of "flat line" look at the end. Good for you for getting out there and doing that on a busy weekend!

Cannot believe the wee man is five already! Happy birthday to him!

Those veggies all look fab, can't wait to see what you cook up with them :)

Re the kohlrabi, this recipe might be a good jumping off point for your creativity - it's a kohlrabi slaw and very quick and easy: http://www.dietgirl.org/dietgirl/2006/05/mighty-sputnik.html

Your post just made me smile!
When I saw the word Kohlrabi I realised that there is no English but only a German word for it! (;
I LOVE KOHLRABI (;
We eat it raw - Cut like fries and dipped (;,
or shredded as a salad. Or you cut it like fries and boil in salted water
for a short time,meanwhile prepare a white sauce (melted soft cheese with milk,starch,salt,pepper,nutmeg)-once the Kohlrabi is al-dente mix with sauce and serve with mashed potatoes and "Fleischküchle" (; (South German fried meatballs: 3-4 people/soak an "old" white bun/egg roll from yesterday in water.mince 3 gloves of garlic and 1 big onion in very Small pieces, fry it and set aside.wash and cut a bunch of parsley. Put 1kg of ground meat - we normally use 1/2 pork,1/2 beef - in a large bowl, squeeze the water from the egg roll, take it apart and add it as well as Garlic,onions,parsley,a spoonful of mustard,1 big egg,1 teaspoon salt,pepper,nutmeg and knead it by hand.
Then take a handful, form small balls and fry them.
Here's a pic with potatoe salad: http://www.tueschmecker.de/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/fleischkuechle.jpg

enjoy! (;

lovely greetings from over the ocean
