@Michelle: I agree with your opinion!
In my opinion, lose weight can not be instant because it requires a process and people who want to lose weight should be disciplined include regular exercise, eating lots of vegetables, drink plenty of water and reduce stress. I am sure, you can drop the weight slowly and your face also looks bright.

Im so glad I read this post today! Started at 222 & I lost 23 lbs in 8 weeks by counting points. I got to onderland (199 to be exact) & the scale stuck at 199 for 3 weeks. Wow did I get discouraged. I had several days of binge eating (falling off the wagon) because I was majorily frustrated. Then I had a wake up call & realized that even though the scale wasnt moving, my clothes felt different & I realized I was still losing (inches).

That gave me a little push to keep going & get back on track! It feels like at times our bodies do whatever they want to even if we are doing everything according to Plan. It is a lifestyle change & I need to remind myself of that often!

Thank you all for being so inspirational. It's nice to come here and feel so normal. Everyone is right~slow and steady is the way to go. I lost 30lbs. 2+ years ago and am happy that I have kept it off. I am now gearing up to lose one more pound at a time until I reach where I feel comfortable~not where the scale or society says I should be~being/making healthy choices and moving everyday is very important both mentally and physically. Thank you all again for being so inspirational and supportive.

I would like to add my two cents worth - I agree with other posters that your loss is great LeeAnn and congratulations for staying OP despite your personal disappointment. That may be more important than whatever you lost on the scales. I try and view my weight loss as a side-effect of my healthy lifestyle - eating well and exercising is my focus and primarily for my health. That I lose weight as well is a bonus. This is a huge mindset change for me, as it would probably be for most people who have struggled with their weight for many years. I yo-yoed for more than 30 years and now at 47 have maintained a 136lb loss for three years. As I work on making my diet (and I use that word to simply mean my total intake of food) healthier and fine-tune my exercise plan to fit the fitter me and the time I have available I find I am again losing weight. As I say I see that as a side-effect and am curious to see where I end up. I stay within my points but have found being selective about the quality of food I eat - more protein, unrefined carbs, loads of veges - has made a difference to what I weigh. Hang in there LeeAnn, you are in for the long haul not short term quick fix, right?

LeeAnn... I'm 19 years old and when I started weight watchers for the millionth time I finally decided that it was going to be the LAST time I "started". I'm 5' 4" and when i started i weighed 166 lbs I've lost 27 lbs and now weigh 139. I'm not done but I'm SO proud of myself for accomplishing this much. 2.5 lbs in a week is AMAZING and even if you only lose .5 lbs in a week you should be extremely proud of yourself. Someone once told me once that your body doesn't know when you are going to weigh yourself...so just because after a week you aren't losing as much as you hoped it doesn't mean your body isn't working on it. As long as you are following your daily points and exercising, know that you are doing a lot more than other people. At least you are CHANGING your life instead of just thinking about it and never succeeding. It might take longer than you hope but it's a good idea to not put a time limit on your weight loss, it will just discourage you and cause you to lose focus. YOU CAN DO IT! don't let anyone (or the scale) tell you otherwise!

Roni, I was going to say the same thing. 2.5 pounds is AWESOME! I think when people are sitting on their couch watching Biggest Loser, they want to see 7 -10 pounds gone in a week, which we know in real life is not possible!

I keep thinking that each day I eat better and exercise, every day will be better than the last and time goes by so fast anyway, before you know it you will be there!

This is the question most ask.. I always say over & over that Patience & consistency need to be part of the plan. It took time to put that weight on & it is going to take even longer for it to come off, unfortunately. BUT, ya got to have patience! And yes, use clothes & how they fit as an indicator too. Just stick with it & don't give up!

LeAnn, I'm going to join the chorus here. First, 2.5 lbs in the first week is excellent! You can't start out being disappointed by this number, because there will be weeks when you'll lose less than that.

Long-term weight loss really is all about "Slow and Steady Wins the Race." Setting unrealistic goals will only discourage you. I've learned this the hard way in previous diets. This time around I'm trying to lose 100 lbs, and like Paula (#9), I've allotted myself 2 years to do it. 100 lbs. in 24 months means that I need to average 4.2 lbs/month, only a little over 1 lb/week - and there are months when even that doesn't happen, though there are also months when I do better. Right now I'm on track (56 lbs. so far), and I think that's partly because of keeping a realistic attitude.

Give yourself and your body time to make this kind of adjustment. After all, if you're looking to go from 169.5 back to 130 lbs, that's 23% of your starting weight! Taking off nearly a quarter of your weight is a big challenge and a huge change for your body, so you'll have a better chance of success if you don't try to rush it due to unrealistic expectations. Just make each day a healthy day and the rest will work itself out over time.
