Highlights from my Weekend. . .
…cause I’m too lazy to write a real post. ;)
My weekend started Friday night when @ResourcefulMom pointed out my mug was in the New York Times…
Yup, that’s me and my famous computer with the FitBloggin’ sticker. :) The article didn’t mention me at all and it was a little condescending but I’m not going to get into it now.
Saturday was SUPER busy. I woke up to the glorious smell of chicken stock and got started making Overnight Chicken Broth Turned Bulgur Soup and breakfast for the little guy. We made the BEST smoothie with a banana, frozen wild blueberries, frozen strawberries and some light chocolate soy milk.

Then I headed to my morning boot camp class. I love that I have a date at the gym every saturday morning at 8:30AM. No matter what goes on during the week I will get my time then. After class I snuck a quick trip to Trader Joe’s (it’s right next store to the gym) before heading to my accountants office to get started on the taxes. Normally I’m done by now but I’ve been so stinkin’ busy! I even had to hire a book keeper to help with my business finances. I just can’t do it all. Its not possible.
Anyway, after the meeting I headed back home and played with the little guy. We love this game called Blokus and the little guy totally kicks my butt. It’s funny. . .

We finally got dressed and headed to the little guy’s soccer game, had dinner at Chick-Fil-A and then went to see Alice in Wonderland, which we loved! I thought it was a little slow in the middle but over a wonderful family movie night!
At the end of the day Saturday I was wiped! It was a fun, active day!
Sunday wasn’t quite as busy. I ran in the Shamrock 5k (28:02), came home, made Spinach Calzones, and took a nap. Can you ask for a better Sunday then that?!? I’m just excited I got my running event this month. I feel like I’m back on track for my yearly running goals.
All in all it was a great weekend! I even kept my food journal both days, which rarely happens on the weekends. :)
I have 4 days until FitBloggin’ so I may be a bit absent on the blog. Thankfully I have the week off work so I’ll be making all the final preparations for the conference.
OK, I’m off. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Your computer is such a fame whore upstaging you like that :) I would send it to bed without charging its battery!
Seriously though, congrats! Now you can add The New York Times to your resume.
Hi Roni! You have really inspired me over the last couple years, and yesterday I ran in my first race in downtown Cleveland! There was a 2 mile and a 5K… since I don’t have a whole lot of experience running (I’ve been practicing on a treadmill for a few weeks), I did the 2 mile. I was SO disappointed that I couldn’t run the whole thing. Towards the middle of the run/walk I found myself thinking about how I am such a failure because I had fallen behind all of the people I came to the race with (family and friends… most who are runners and have done races before, but still). I realize that I didn’t fail – I got out of bed at 6:00 a.m. on a Saturday (ugh!) and finished the 2 miles. Still, the devil on my shoulder tells me I’m a failure and I’m not a runner and what was I even thinking attempting something like this?! I want to keep practicing, I want to believe that eventually I can run an entire 2 miles – then a 5k, and more. It just seems like such a lofty goal. How did you learn to let go of that negative voice in your head in order to reach your goals? I could really use some advice and motivation. Thanks!
Oh Sara you can’t focus on that! You did AWESOME and you should be patting yourself on the back for getting out there and TRYING IT! Fitness doesn’t come over night. Running is something you have to work on like anything in this life. I didn’t run the whole way in my first race either. I’m sure most of us
“converts” are the same way.
You took that step. You got out there. You DID something that many people don’t have the guts to even try. Feel good about it. Own it. You owe it to yourself. Don’t be your own worst enemy.
Hi Roni! We’re friends on facebook (I deactivated for Lent so you won’t see me on there until Easter) and I’m super excited about FitBloggin! You’re my idol for being in the New York Times but I’m so disappointed with the tone that the article took. It’s so hard being found credible in the boys club without something like this. Maybe I’m just defensive because I love your blog and I was one of four woman in my computer science graduating class. But grr!
So excited for FitBloggin!
Loved your pic in the NYT, but HATED the stupid title of the story. In fact, I could only get through the first couple paragraphs. Journalistic diarrhea if you ask me, which you didn’t, but still. Ahem. LOVE your blogs and LOVE how much you’ve helped me change my life. ♥ So glad your weekend rocked.
Hi Roni!
I joined Weight Watchers 4 weeks ago and two weeks into it someone at one of the meetings mentioned your Greenlitebites blog for good Weight Watcher friendly recipes. I got on there and then found Roni’s weigh and have been hooked ever since! With your inspiriation, I started running again (after a LONG hiatus) last week and my legs are saying, “YES!” Granted, I think running a 5 K or a full marathon would make my legs say something different all together, but right now I’m running for 30 minutes straight and loving it. I’m still digging through all of your archived recipes and blog posts and am so thankful for your honesty and transparency. I didn’t read the NYTimes article, but I know what you and your sites have done for me, so that’s all that matters! Thanks again!
Hey Roni!
Glad you got the exposure but the article…yuck! Did.not.like.at.all. What was up with the writer? I could not even get through the first two paragraphs.
Much success at FitBloggin!
Congrats on the 5k that is awesome. Good job!!
We love Blokus in our house too :) Sounds like you had a great weekend. Congrats on the 5k. Good luck with the conference, I’m sure it will be great.
Sounds like a great weekend to me :-)
I did a 5K this past weekend, too, and am doing an 8K this coming weekend. I’m currently very frustrated by constant injuries. I FINALLY enjoy running, but can’t make it more than week without hurting something. :( I am going to try incorporating more strength and yoga after this 8K and hope that helps.
Good planning on your part to have fitbloggin 10 during your spring break week. Good for you! and Good Luck!!!
Sounds like you guys had a busy weekend!! I really didn’t like that article, it sounds like the writer had their own agenda on what to write without doing the homework.
Sounds like you had an awesome weekend! Try not to stress to much about FitBloggin, you’ll do great and have an amazing time! I’m sure having the week off will help tremendously. That article was such BS! i was pretty pissed when I read it, i even had to vent about it on my blog. uh oh i guess that means I’m ignoring my kids and trying to get rich quick lol told ya i was bitter : P
HAve fun at Fitbloggin! Sounds like an awesome weekend too! Agree with the others on the article…
Wow you are a busy person. I don’t know how you do it all.
I do think it is great that even though you are busy you always have time to play with the little guy. That is the most important thing on your to do list. You are a great mom Roni!
Hang in there, FitBloggin is gonna be awesome. I can’t wait to hear abou it.
whoa your laptop is HIP! :) that article was vaguely catty, which is weird since the person who wrote it was also a blogger. ah well.
that smoothie looks so good! im off to read the article now!
Thanks for all your inspiration. Love your blog and all you’ve done, very inspirational.
Just wondering – when you do your races, do your husband/son go too?
THANKS!
I think they should have linked to your site for credit. However, it actually gave me a little topic to write about at my own site.
That smoothie looks delicious!
Sounds like you had a busy weekend or according to your Sunday, busier than mine…lol. Running a 5K too – excellent!
By the way, I work as a virtual assistant of The Healthy Moms ( http://www.thehealthymoms.net ), the site is fairly new and I thought I would drop by some mom and health related sites to spread the word.
I read the article, never really looked at the picture, too cool!! I’m not sure if I get what everyone is saying, I guess it is kinda of cheeky, I do hate the title though.
Congrats on the awesome weekend!!
Anyway, good luck this week and at the conference, I KNOW it will be a huge success!!!!!!!
I’d say FitBloggin is the real winner in that NYC article. What with a picture with its logo placed prominently like that…. ohhhh yah. :)
I just love that Under Armour sticker!
