I’m not making any promises to bring back my old Thursday Thoughts feature regularly but I had some thoughts, it’s thursday, so why not? :)

The first thing I need to address is this SNOW. I’m sorry if it seems to be dominating my blog lately but we got dumped on twice within the last week totaling about 4 feet. I’ve lived outside of Baltimore for 10 years now and have never seen this much snow here. Heck, I grew up in North Eastern PA and don’t remember ever seeing this much snow, ever. This is what the toddler and I woke up to this morning. . .

After the first storm I had fun taking a couple panoramic shots. This morning I took one more from the street in front of my house. Click here to see what my neighborhood looked like the day after the storm. I much rather summer then winter but I have to admit, it sure is pretty.

The second thing I need to mention is my Skinny Scoopers Podcast. Chris & Lisa interviewed me a few weeks ago and posted the podcast on thier site this week. I totally forgot to mention it the other day.

Third, I’ve been working my a$$ off on FitBloggin’! I hope to have a few new fun announcements soon and I just posted about a run post conference that those who are local may be interested in. Click here to check out the details.

Fourth, I got a little distracted this evening by Jaime Oliver‘s talk of Ted. Besides his mesmerizing accent and boyish good looks :) I love what he has to say. I share his passion to teach kids about food and inspiring families to cook together. That is exactly what I try to do with GreenLiteBites. Here’s his recent TED Talk. . .

Fifth, my food journal. Yesterday I went a little nuts. I ate out of boredom. I ate in a fit of funk. I even avoided my food journal. Then I realized what I was doing and committed to the journal today. That always gets me motivated again. :)

Food Units
omelet with onion, peppers, ham & baby spinach much like I used to with the toddler 3

2 leftover stuffed peppers 5
some fresh pineapple and mango with the little guy 2
husband & child convinced me 2 head out in the snow for.. wait for it.. mcdonalds! ugh.. salad, 2 nuggets, some fries and a sundae 13
popchips and salsa 4
Total: 27

Table provided by Roni’s Food Tweet, Eat, Post Generator.

Sixth, I almost forgot! My February race was cancelled do to all the snow. I am not backing down from my 2010 running goals so I’m the hunt for a new race before the end of the month. I’ll keep you posted. :)

  1. The only time I’ve seen so much snow was hwen I was in college and Buffalo got 7 feet in one storm. We didn’t know what to do with it all and they had to keep the cafeteria staff on campus to feed us all.

I instantly froze when I started the panoramic of your neighborhood. BRRR!

I love that you do GLB! I’ve impressed so many guests with your recipes!

  3. Reinaldo says:

Roni, I’m so glad to see this post. It went something like this in this latter days: “Whoaaa, a lot of snowing in USA”.. “Baltimore, isn’t there where roni’s live?”.. “She’s having a blast on the snow”… “Nice panoramic shoot”… “well, she actually ask mother nature to bring it”… “Uhmmmm, the snow is getting pretty bad”… “I wonder if they are OK”…. “are they OK?!?!??!”

And then this post. So glad to see the hardest part of your blogging day was the points! You know, the snow thing was funny for a while but recently I kinda get a little worried about you gringos…. keep safe!

  4. catherine says:

  5. Amanda says:

So, I have to ask–are you still getting mail delivery in all of this snow?? I see that your mailbox is almost covered so I was curious.

  6. roni says:

NOO it’s driving me CRAZY! and I’ve seen a mail truck to. I actually have to call the post office today.

  7. liz says:

uh, i would be going kind of stir-crazy too. mcdonald’s happens sometimes, at least you will burn alot of calories shoveling snow?

  8. Christie says:

I live in Georgia and everyone is FREAKING out because we are getting about 4 inches right now. I just keep reminding them about MD’s snowpocalypse. It’s a crazy year for sure!

  9. Bern says:

man! i have been avoiding my food journal for about a week and a half now! one too many dinners to get off track, thanks for the notes and the motivation to get back to counting!

  10. Jeanine says:

I live in Phoenix and it will be 70 degrees here tomorrow! :) Come visit!

  11. Mehgann says:

I live in Syracuse NY, and I remember one winter where we got 7 ft in one storm. It was great!!! We had school the next day, too. No amount of snow ever closed my school district down…only temperatures that were so cold it was actually illegal to have kids out in it waiting for the bus. No kidding…

  12. iceman says:

LOVE your site Roni! Be proud of who you are….in your heart! I think your beautiful …and after reading all of your posts, I feel such a strong connection between us! I know how it feels to be viewed as someone your not…I had to leave my hometown just for that reason. Now im settled in all cozy in between the (green)? mountains of VT. NOTHING like the feeling of being down in the valley!
I too suffer from weight issues due to my mothers cooking habits! But we can always start over… Ive realized I can be ANYONE I want to be! The SKYS the limit! LOL! Almost like Halloween costumes…..(maybe its time for me to come out from behind my mask?)

Thank you Roni! Youve kept me busy and entertained for quite some time now…

  13. MarrgieAnne says:

Thanks for the TED link. We are huge fans of Jamie in NZ. I was checking your link when TWJ let me know that the TV series Jamie’s America Road trip was coming up tonight. We watched him in New York and loved it.

  14. Elaine says:

That panoramic shot of your neighborhood is very cool! How did you do that?

  15. That’s a lot of thoughts there Roni! Hope you’re not too swamped. =D

  16. Laura Jane says:

I totally understand being tired of the snow. It is beautiful, but I’m ready for spring. I live in Pittsburgh, so not quite as much as you but still a TON.
