So true that our kids inspire us to be better people. Thanks for reaffirming that and for being an inspiration to so many! Your story has inspired me to keep on track. My daughter is 6 months old and I want to be a healthy mom she sees working out and eating healthy so she can also be that way.

The "money quote" from the CNN story is:

"I found that when my focus changed from trying to get thin to trying to be healthy and a good example [for my son], all of a sudden the weight started coming off."

I was just reading the same thing here:

Dr Monte said [...] that he sees weight loss being a by-product of fitness. In other words, exercise, get fit, and the weight loss takes care of itself.

i just found your blog through cnn.com. i was reading my morning news and saw a little blurb about your story. i am 28 weeks pregnant with our first child. i have been overweight my whole life, just like you. my husband and i have talked about changing our eating habits once the baby comes, because we don’t want our child to eat the same way as us and be overweight like we were/are. we know how it feels to be picked on in school. very excited to find your blog. i am going to start following you and trying some of your recipes. i enjoy cooking and being in the kitchen but sometimes struggle for tasty, healthy and quick recipes.
