Yesterday morning I made statement on twitter about not eating out

fridge is stocked.. lunch is made.. dinner planned.. don’t care how busy this week is WE ARE NOT EATING OUT! there I said it! can I do it?

We have seriously been eating out way too much and not only do I hate it for dietary reason it’s becoming financially impossible.

So Monday I made our last trip to the grocery store before our big move. We closed on the house last week but we are taking two weeks to have it painted. We officially move in September 16 (if all works out as planed.) (pssst… sneak peak at my new kitchen over on GreenLiteBites)

I stocked us up on fresh veggies, a few sale protein sources and some sides. Paired with what I have in stock we should be able to swing it. Yesterday I made burgers, tonight a sweet and sour scallop stir-fry, tomorrow turkey tacos. I’m brining leftovers to lunch and purchased a few sale Lean Cuisines as they are much cheaper then buying on campus.

Friday and Saturdays are our "planned" dinning out nights. Although I’m going to see if I can get the husband to give up one of those days. He loves to eat out probably more then I love to cook. :)

So on to these winners! Sorry I’m late announcing. It totally slipped my mind and honestly most of my attention has been going to planning not only my meals but the FitBloggin conference!

Ok, I’m out. I’ve also made a commitment to get more sleep so I’ve been trying to go to bed earlier. Unfortunately that also means my running has really suffered but I’m not beating myself up. There are only so many hours in a day. Something has to give.

oh! todays menu real fast. I’ve been doing good on my food journal

I know you dont really count “points” anymore but that seems like not very many points at all…..do you normally eat like that or was it just a busy day (that happens to me I am so busy I dont eat much and then I am not hungry later cause I am just so tired) Just curious I am really struggling right now and just trying to get a glimpse into successful members =D

  3. You can do it! Stick to your guns and before you know it the week will be over! Oh and the new kitchen looks awesome!

  4. Nia says:

Awesome kitchen! Good job on the planning too :)

  5. Stacey says:

Good for you, Roni! My problem is that I like eating out as much as my husband does. But since I stay home with the kids, we don’t have the money to eat out like we did when I worked. We stick to going out on the weekends ~ which is when I let myself eat whatever I’m craving at the time, so it works out well.

Your kitchen looks great! Can’t wait to see you working in it!

Jenna – that’s a pretty low day for me. I’m trying to balance out all the eating out my so back to some lower point days even though I’m not counting points. That really is a good example day of what/how I ate while losing. Although, keep in mind I’m not really posting serving sizes! Oh! and I did forget my lunch someone… just added it!

    Thanks!

You’re new kitchen looks great. I have some scallops in my freezer and the boyfriend is out of town this weekend so your sweet and sour scallops might be my dinner on Sat. Thanks ofr sharing!

  8. You can do it! Once you get in a habit of eating out for convenience it is hard to stop. But you can do it! Your food always looks so great so I’m sure this little challenge you gave yourself will be enough of a push to actually do it :-)

  9. I find that when the husband and I plan dinners out it’s easier to turn down eating out. For example if we KNOW we are going to eat out on Saturday it’s easier to say – let’s just wait until Saturday as opposed to saying “we aren’t eating out for a month..” It’s like losing weight – you gotta have moderation!

  10. roni says:

Katie, Such a better way to look at that goal! I love it. Now… if I can only get hubby to CARE about the meal planning. :)
