I totally want to tell you about my Sunday but I’m beat. So I’m going for the bullet point approach as I try to keep my eyes open.

  • I ran about 8 miles this morning. First time in a week. It was raining and my iPod crapped out at mile 2. I considered turning around but then I thought about the marathon and how it’s only 2 weeks away. I’m no where near where I wanted to be but I’m still looking forward to it in a weird "I’m scared out of my mind" kind of way. :)
  • After the run we got a few more things done around the house. The last big room we have left if the bedroom. Which I’m saving for next weekend as I can’t handle coming home from work, cooking dinner, having family time and then unpacking. It just ain’t happening. I can deal with pulling my clothes out of a box for a few more days.
  • This afternoon we ran some errands, went shopping and had lunch at Panera. It was nice. We rarely go grocery shopping all together.
  • Afterwards I made dinner, Dried Herb and Yogurt Marinated Pork which was actually a hit. I also made lunches and a quick marinade for a couple of small steaks that I’ll make tomorrow night. Hey, I figured if I was in the kitchen dirtying everything up I might as well get as much done as possible. :)
  • I also posted I’m still lumpy on We Are the Real Deal which, for some reason, came flowing out of my this morning. I’ve been struggling with some feelings and writing is such a source of therapy for me now. It’s strange.

Ok, that’s it. I got to go to bed. I’ve been fighting a headache since dinner.

  1. Sounds like a productive day! How you ran 6 miles with no iPod is a mystery to me! Good for you. Oh and I do the same thing in the kitchen. Once I am in there it seems like a waste to just take care of one meal.

Off to read I’m still lumpy…hope the headache gets better.

Marathon or no, I wouldn’t be able to run without my ipod. It’s hard to believe marathon season is here already. The Marine Corps Marathon is in less than a month!

  3. WOw this post is exactly what I needed to hear today. I was contemplating dropping out of my 10K on Columbus day because I’m not ready and haven’t been able to train the way I want (my hip tendonitis). But reading that you are still going through with the marathon even though you don’t feel as prepared is a great motivator. I have that “I’m scared out of my mind” feeling about my race but I think I’m going to push through. I may not be able to run the whole thing but I can run/walk it. thanks for the inspiration.

Hope you are feeling better Roni! Kudos for sticking with the run with no tunes! :D

  5. Rock on with your fitness/health goals. Don’t ever wait to “feel” like it to take action. Take action and the “feeling” will follow!

Holy crap Roni – I admire your running ability! Good luck on your marathon, all you need to do us YOUR best. It doesn’t even matter if you finish, you know?

One thing that may or may not be motivating is to think about the fact that you CAN run. I pounded my body into the ground as a teen with an eating disorder/exercise obsession, and the permanent damage to my back and neck don’t allow me to do ANYTHING except no impact exercise (ie the elliptical at the gym is my only friend :)

    Anyway, you are something girl!
