Louise - Thanks so much!

"The funny thing is that once I had lost the weight I realized that I was that person all along, it was just that I felt confident enough to let her out."

That's how I feel too... like having my son kicked me in the pants and made me realize all the things I wasn't doing and then losing the weight got me back to where I was suppose to be. If that makes sense. :)

Thanks so much for sharing!

McLauren84 - The are in season in the fall/winter but you can usually find them year round nowadays. Another cool thing about them is they last for weeks if not months after you buy them (depending on how fresh they are.)
Did you go here to see what ones looks like? http://greenlitebites.com/2007/12/15/preparing-spaghetti-squash-video-post/

Have fun squash hunting! :)

Hi Roni
just to let you know I found this site whilst googling for tummy tuck recovery pictures earlier this year and have been completely hooked ever since. I identify so much with yourself, and after listening to your post felt compelled to reply to your question re weight loss changing who you are.

I lost 70 pounds six years ago and have maintained roughly the same weight since. Like yourself a found an equilibrium at a slightly higher point than the initial finishing point. Whilst losing weight I started to exercise starting with long walks, then gym work and about three years ago progressed to running, which I absolutely adore. I go through phases where I have to ease back due to injury or recovering from my surgery (june this year) but now don't panic too much as I know that this is just part of the process and that sometimes I'll have to walk/run and gradually build myself back up. I still find it difficult to allow myself the label of being a runner.
AND finally to answer your question!! - although the answer is a bit long winded. Whilst growing up I was led to believe that I was fat. My father always made comments about peoples size and would attach the lazy, greedy, ugly labels in various formats to anybody who was fat. I was always compared to my sister who has a much smaller build than myself and being a child I didn't understand that he was wrong (unfortunately my mother didn't try to stop this). To cut an extremely long story short - by my teens I had no concept of what I looked like and had no idea of what it felt like to be full and empty (It brings me to tears now when I see pictures of myself as a teenager - a normal sized person who saw nothing but ugliness and a body twice the size). As an adult I became that fat person and it wasn't until my late thirties that I started to lose weight. The catalyst for that being a break away from another destructive relationship (my husband) and the support of my sister and my girls. I didn't set out to lose weight but became happier with life in general which seemed to spark the believe that I could become the person I wanted to be. The funny thing is that once I had lost the weight I realized that I was that person all along, it was just that I felt confident enough to let her out.
sorry if a bit too long (I'm usually a very concise writer).

Great post, Roni! And for the record, I also thing your haircut is adorable. You can totally get away with it, and it shows off your pretty face!

I'm intrigued by spaghetti squash. I made pasta fairly often for the boyfriend, and I always wish there were a lighter alternative for me. Are they in season now? Can you find one out of season or do you just have to wait?
