Did grabbing a spoon and the gallon of ice cream last night really make you feel any better?

Get a grip!

Now… you are up early… go pack a lunch and grab some workout clothes. You are going to go to yoga tonight and lift some weights. THAT will make you feel better. I promise.

Don’t worry about the ice cream :]

I said the same thing to myself yesterday after I had fried chicken and pretzels for lunch/dinner instead of good food like I promised myself I would eat…The past few days I really let my eating get away from me, and I haven’t made the time to exercise like I should have. It’s as though the Fourth of July came and I said “I have a free day, no biggie” and that one day turned into half a week of disordered, unhealthy eating and bad exercise habits.

I need to get a grip on myself too! Thanks for this note to self. I know that going out for a run today will be what I need to make me feel better, not another bag of salty pretzels or a greasy breakfast.

Haha, on Sunday I, too, grabbed a spoon and a gallon of Edy’s Reduced Fat Vanilla. Never a good idea! You keep saying to yourself, “This is the last bite. No, seriously, THIS is the last bite” and before you know it, half the gallon is gone! What a slippery slope.

I’m sure you’ll be back on track in no time!

  4. Ice cream is fabulous – and is hard to resist! I love the new Breyer’s Smooth & Dreamy (?) in the blue box. I used to be able eat an entire 1/2 gallon of mint chocolate chip, but fortunately that was 150 pounds, and 12 years ago!

    Go exercise!!

I just read French Women Don’t Get Fat for the second time. The French lifestyle and culture is so different from ours. But one thing that stuck with me is the pleasure they take from food instead of feeling guilt. You are only allowed so many “treats”. Instead of splurging a week’s worth of treats on mindless eating, you should plan for them. Full on flavor, not on guilt! A more flavorful (and expensive) ice cream choice might go a long way toward giving you the satisfaction you want, but you will only need a little bit to do so! The less is more ideal is pretty powerful. I think to myself that if I am going to splurge it might as well be the best I can get. That way I can really savor and enjoy it.

  7. I love your notes to self – they are direct yet kind! Have fun getting some exercise tonight! :)

How did the yoga work for you? I’ve never tried it, but people keep recommending it to me.
