This is the attitude I went into my vacation with…

whatever

Not a disrespectful "whatever" but a "let-it all-go-and-just-have-a-good-time-whatever" whatever and that’s exactly what did.

I don’t think I’ve even been more active on a vacation in my life. I ran. I walked. I played. I swam. I just… was. If that makes any sense. It was exactly what I needed after the move and new job. It was a great time for my family to just reconnect.

IN the water on vacation

On the food front there was just… a LOT of it. I didn’t deprive myself of anything but I did have a few strategies. For starters I shared. There were more then a few meals I just split with the toddler instead of getting a full plate myself. This worked really great for pizza, fries and stuff. I also swapped out a few ice creams for water ice (much lower in fat and calories.) And I choose a few light meals when I could (sushi one day and a tuna steak another.) Overall I ate what I wanted when I wanted and now I’m feeling a little… bleh. Not because I feel bad or disappointed in myself. I enjoyed that final humongous slice of extra cheesy sicilian pizza! (oh how I enjoyed it) but I swear my body missed my home cooked meals full of veggies and whole grains. I’m just tired of feeling so bloated and stuffed. Funny… I used to feel bloated and stuffed all the time. I’m not sure why it took me so long to figure out how much better I feel when I eat healthier. It’s so natural now. SO natural that both the child and the husband (sort of) approved my idea for a light dinner. We made simply pan "grilled" veggies and paired it with some fresh Jersey corn. :) It was Delish and the perfect meal to return home to.

So, if you didn’t notice, I twittered my way through vacation. I hope it wasn’t too annoying because I had a blast doing it! If you aren’t a twitter fan, no worries, you can still see the pictures I posted on twitpic. Just keep in mind they are in reverse order.

One more thing before I run and catch up on some sleep. We drove by the new house to discover this…

the new house!

… now it’s REALLY starting to come together!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a Sensational Sunday post. I need to get a bunch of things in order for the week. It already promises to be a crazy one with BlogHer right around the corner!

it sounds like you had a wonderful time! and that is what vacations are for my dear…a little self indulgence! but, as glad as i am you had a great time, it sure was lonely without you!! welcome back!

I’m glad you’re back Ronnie, and you inspired me more than you know while you twittered through your vacation! I saw that you were burning sometimes more than 1200 calories on your runs and i was just AMAZED! Only on a hardcore day can I manage to burn 1200 and I thought to myself: If Ronnie, teeny tiny Ronnie- who started out close to my height and weight, i’m 5’11, 194 lbs- can burn 1200 in a workout- SO CAN I!!!! So, most days I had been aiming for 1000, now i’m aiming for 12 FOR SURE! Thanks for the inspiration Ronnie, and you’re family is super cute!

what a great mentally to go into vacation with (food wise) its pretty much what I do on a weekly basis never deprive. Just out of curiousity since you may have induldge a bit more then usual…..did it do much damage scale wise? You look great in for pan grilled veggies post it doesn’t look like you did at all

Thanks for keeping us updated while u were on vacation. My favorite was all the twitpics!
I do have a question though. I noticed on some of ur runs you weren’t holding a water bottle. I have been running for about 9 months now and I can not run without one, I never have. The most I’ve ran is 5 miles and I can’t run imagine running 10 miles like you do without one. Even if you stop and catch a drink at a fountain or something, is that enough?
Okay so my question is did you used to run with one? Did u ween urself off of carrying it with you? How do you make it without one? I feel like I’m dying of thirst if I don’t have one with me. It may be 50% mental though.
    Just thought I’d ask.
    Thanks Roni!

  7. So glad to hear you had a great vacation! I loved reading about it :-)

Jenna – I’m sure the scale would show a creep up if I looked at it but I haven’t! I packed the scale. :)

Evilwoman – I have never taken water on my runs. It’s strange but I’m generally ok. However now that my training runs are getting quite long I planned on equipping myself with some. :)
