Roni,
Some days you have good runs, and some days you have bad ones. I know I certainly do. I second the suggestion of drinking the sports drinks provided at the water stations. Have you looked into getting a hydration belt as well? I never leave home without my water!!

sraikh - This weekend was an exception, I normally only run 3 day a week. 1 long run on the weekend and 2 shorter runs mid week.

Michelle - Since the 10 mile race and cutting back on my mid week runs they haven't been bothering me. Just a tinge here and there but I think the reduction in overall mileage helped a bunch!

I was wondering, dont you take a rest day between runs, especially runs as long as that? Everything I read has said that its is required to avoid injuries?

Love the last pic

Congrats on the long runs. Question. How are the knees holding up with two long runs in a row?

It's nice to see lots of mother/son pictures for a change! Looks like you had someone take all the pictures of you and the boy that you would take, if you could take pictures of yourself! And you might want to try the room time approach now that naptimes are usually out. My oldest stays in his room for about an hour to play, listen to books on cd, and just daydream. He's not allowed to come out, so that part takes some training, but it's a good time for him to wind down and have fun, too.

what a great weekend!! Don't worry about the naps. BigBoy still fights me but on busy days we just cuddle and he crashes! After a long strike, we are back to occasional naps when really needed. yahoo!

Hey Roni!

When I was training for my half marathon, I had a TERRIBLE 10 mile final training run as well! I was super deflated and downright worried that I wouldn't be able to finish. But I did! So don't let this worry you. You can and will do it! Good luck - I can't wait to hear!

Just a rule of thumb, if you're going to be running more than an hour, you should plan some kind of re-fueling, either gels or sports drinks. I personally use Cytomax powder mixin in my water bottle and drink about 4 oz every 15 minutes or so from the start of my long runs to keep a steady stream of calories. If I'm going much over 2 hours then I add some shot bloks too at about 90 minutes in. That's just what works best for me after quite a bit of experimenting.

But at my first half marathon last year I took the gatorade at every aid station and the gel they offered at 7 miles and that worked OK too. I think you'll find the longer runs much easier if you don't try to do it with water only. Also, as we head into warmer weather, the loss of electrolytes is more of an issue for the long runs.
