Great post.
My fave is always

"If you can be nice be civil
If you can't be civil be quiet."

I've been 'quiet' a whole lot in life...;-P

Love the responsibilty thing. All actions have reactions....all reactions have consequences. Eating carrots: consequence is good.
Eating cupcakes? consequences probably not so good.

Its like the guy who speeds down the highway and gets pissed at the cop writing him the ticket. You don't want the ticket? don't speed, but don't blame the consequence of YOUR actions that YOU chose in free will, on someone else.
anyhow.....

I like that quote :)

Often when i get stressed out, I try to think about what that particular moment/situation is teaching me (for example, the drive who is cutting me off is trying to teach me patience...same might apply to a cranky toddler. an annoying husband might be for me to practice compassion). It doesn't <i>always work, but it does often help! Hope your day got a little better :)

Love this quote, and it ties soooo much into my weekend quote, inspired by my little bro (by way of Ben Stiller in Mystery Men) "If you don’t learn to master your rage, your rage will become your master….” (replace "rage" with anything else)

Glad you liked it! I haven't blogged about it yet (it's just starting out in draft form...), so maybe I'll just cheat and link to you. ;) This has sooo been my mantra lately; be it my kids, feeling like I need comfort food, dealing with the recession or being "greener". It's really helped me keep myself calm, cool and collected.- kinda I have control over me, and that's what I need to focus on.

Roni, your weekend quote reminds me of a quote i shared on BTL last night, here it is again...

"Dont wish for things to be different, wish that you were better..."

this quote ironically enough is from a sales training tape but it leapt from the cd into my ears and settled into my thoughts and has stuck there. this nugget of information is so diverse and useful for so many scenarios (at least for me) i.e, don't wish the stress was gone; wish for better coping skills. don't wish the husband was more helpful; wish for more honed communication skills to get your point across to him. don't wish the chocolate would stop "calling you"; wish for strength to make a better choice. don't wish that the clock would stop preventing you from getting your workout in; wish for more creativity in sneaking in more activity. don't wish the kids would stop (whining, arguing, etc); wish for the gift of patience. this quote forces me out of the victim mentality and reminds me of the full control and power i have over my own life and that is is all about choices. OH, and i bought a funny metal sign to hang in my kitchen that says "there will be a FIVE DOLLAR charge for whining!" my kids can read now so i can shoot them a look and point to the SIGN! priceless!

Yeah, my husband ruined TWO of my good pans this morning. Why can't I have one decent pan without him scraping the heck out of it? Sigh...

Hugs Roni :)
