Weekend Quote: The goal can be reached

Date February 28, 2009

This weekend’s quote comes via Julie’s inspiration. She sent me a link to GreatDay.com and as glanced through the archives this ones stood out like a sore thumb. It makes a perfect weekend quote no matter if your goals are weight related or otherwise.

There is a way to reach the goal. You just have to decide you’re going to do it.
There are challenges, to be sure. Yet you’ve overcome challenges before and you can do it again.
Decide to do it, and make the commitment. Take the necessary actions, over and over again.
If you realize your approach isn’t working, adjust it and improve it until you begin to make some progress. Then be grateful for what you’ve learned, and use it to move more quickly ahead.
Be sure to choose a goal that is truly yours. Making the goal meaningful is what makes it reachable.
Creating anything of value takes a lot of good, hard, solid work. Enjoy the journey and delight in reaching the destination.
— Ralph Marston

WOW… speaks volumes to me. Especially with my running aspirations this year.

  1. Great quote! :)

  2. so true.
I need to remember this more often as of late as well…

  3. So great that I am cutting and pasting it in into my BTL page so that I can refer to it later, when I’m feeling down in the dumps.

  4. I had to do a lot of adjusting lately……..but I will reach my goal :) Thanks for the inspiration ;)

  5. Great quote! Hope your weekend is going well Roni.

  6. I totally needed this today. Looking at “junk” food, as a challenge instead of a temptation helps. It is easy to give into temptation, but a challenge makes me think of things differently

  7. This is a wonderful passage. It’s going on my blog.

    ~thanks~

  8. I love this quote.

I know that when I realized that I was willing to do all of the things I didn’t want to do in order to lose weight was the moment that I knew I could do it.

  9. Great quote.

  10. Do you ever feel that reaching a weight loss goal and the journey it took to get there has made you a different person? The quote you wrote made me reflect. A coworker approached me. She asked me how I lost my weight. She has ALOT to loose. I told her WW, and proceeded to give her the overview and attached at the end…..When I started I didn’t really see it as a lifestyle change…but guess what….It is. (I didn’t say this to her but am now thinking it on paper) I am not the same person I was 2 years ago. I think I am better, more conscious and aware, more active, and healthier. Anyway, she said…she was not ready to change who she was. The end. I really never looked at it that way when I started. I just took it day by day. But your quote reminded me of it. I just didn’t wake up one day and decide to change who I was, It was a journey of choices and subtle habits and all of a suddent..Viola! Just a thought as I looked at that awesome quote.

  11. COMPLETELY!!

And you are right.. I didn’t set out to change, per say. It just happened. I mean I’m “a runner” now…. NEVER in a million years did I even want to be one!

  12. what an awesome quote!

  13. Love this post! My brother and I call it the “switch.” For us, the switch has to be in “on” position, otherwise we tend to fall off the wagon!

Hope you got to relax some this weekend Roni!

  14. Grest quote!

  15. Okay, that was supposed to be “great” quote….am I still asleep or what?
