I’m feeling slightly better this morning. Slightly. I have an urge to go through the house and disinfect everything so the bug doesn’t re-infect the toddler or get the husband.

Have I said I hate getting sick? I’m not talking the common cold or a sinus infection, I can deal with that. This was just different. It really felt like something invaded my body and there was nothing I can do about it. It just makes me feel so vulnerable. That’s what I hate about it.

OK, ok, enough complaining! :)

When I woke up this morning and peaked at twitter, TaraBurner just posted this quote…

A snowflake is one of God’s most fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together! ~Author Unknown

I never heard this before but I love it! We can accomplish so much more together then alone. That’s why I think blogging is such a great outlet for those looking to change bad habits, lose weight and get healthier. The power of a community where it’s members all have similar goals is an invaluable resource. I know when I write about a struggle or even a success and someone relates it helps keep me going. It validates my feelings and I no longer feel so alone.

Now I can get up on my soapbox and tell you all about my community, BlogToLose and how great it is (only because of it’s wonderful members) but truth be told any "community" works. Whether you have a Biggest Loser club at the gym, a couple of co-workers that take lunch time walks or a family that prepares healthy meals together. It really is amazing what we can accomplish if we stick together!

So tonight as you (or if you) prepare for Super Bowl festivities remember you aren’t alone on your quest to make better choices. Keep in mind one meal is just one meal. It’s how you handle the rest of the week that really matters.

Have fun tonight!

I’ll be babysitting my 4 grandchildren (10, 5, 4, 2) so their parents can go to a Superbowl Party, so I won’t be indulging in Superbowl snacks! Yayyyyyyy! Although “we” will probably be having pudding cups and leftover Sponge Bob Halloween suckers….but that won’t set me back much.

  2. Thanks, Roni!!! You are right; the blogging community is a great outlet and does help you realize you are not alone in the quest for good health!

Sorry you weren’t feeling well; those bugs are the worst :(

    Hi Roni,

This isn’t really related to the post, but you’ve inspired me to get a Nike+. I love how you track your runs and I’m so impressed with your training and progress! Actually, I ran my first 5k in November and my second one last weekend. I’ve got to say, you actually inspired me to do the first one too. In the back of my mind, I think “Roni can do it, so can you!” Your determination is contagious (speaking of contagious – hope you’re feeling better!) So, I went out to run this morning with my Nike+ and now I’m messing around on the website. Ohhh see, I can relate this to your post – I’m liking the Nike+ community – I didn’t realize that there was a community of runners/challenges etc. I just thought I’d be able to track my own progress. Anyway – thanks again girl, for all you do!

Wow! I couldn’t have said it better Roni!
As you know I’m trying to break out and be successful like you in the blog world and a lot of other health bloggers are supporting me already!

I feel like I can really do this and you are such a big help!

Always “well said.” Thanks for having to right words to make me, at least, feel better!

Nice quote. I’ll be making myself a homemade meatball sub … and I’ve already taken two walks — 1 45-minute one and 1 28-minute one to offset any extra Points I’ll consume.
