Thursday Thoughts (whatever)

So the husband told me I should be writing Thursday Thoughts on Wednesday as no one reads them until Friday cause I post too late.
My response, "But I have the thoughts on Thursday so I write them on Thursday. Who cares when they get read anyway?"
"Then you should just call them Thoughts."
"But I have the Thoughts on Thursday. Plus I like the way it sounds."
"Whatever. It’s your blog."
EXACTLY! So here are this weeks Thursday Thoughts on Friday, again. :)
- I can’t remember if I told you guys how I actually collect the links for my "thoughts" post. I email them to myself all week and then on Thursday (*cough* – as in THURSDAYs thoughts) I look through the email, review the links and pluck the ones that I want to share. It works for me. The problem is I don’t generally take any notes so sometimes I can’t remember how I found the link or if someone sent it to me. That’s the case for this one. I have this great link to an article called How to Stop Making Excuses and Start Making Changes but I have no idea how found it. Regardless it’s a great post. Being somewhat of an excuse maker myself I appreciated the advice.
- As for excuses. I stopped making them with my running training this week and I’m feeling great on the workout front! Speaking of, have you guys seen the Physical Activity Pyramid? I never did but I think it’s pretty cool!
- Ok, no more excuses? check… More Activity? check…. What’s left? Ohhh yea! FOOD! How could I forget? This week I found the 10 Best Foods for your Heart according to Health.com. I love that little pictorial slideshow format, don’t you? Anyway… I was psyched as I don’t only eat all these foods but they are pretty much staples in my diet. Just recently learning to appreciate the avocado. :)
- Have you guys heard of the 3 Day Walk for Breast Cancer? Honestly, I didn’t until Elaine brought it to my attention and started the Breast Cancer 3Day Walkers with Robyn. To support my fellow BlogToLose’rs, I designed some shirts for them to wear on the walk. I’m also selling them to help raise money for the cause! Check out my post about them on BlogToLose and please spread the word if you feel so inclined! :)
- This week on RoniNoone.com I reached my 2 post a week goal! Writing 3 Twitter Tips for Twitter #newbies and Getting Readers/Increasing Traffic. I have to admit I’m having fun writing for SMM. It’s fun!
- As for GreenLiteBites I made up Taco-ish Soup with Couscous and Avocado, sweetened some pancakes with Pom Berry Sauce and experimented with Apple Bran Muffins. I also posted this weeks video, Taco Night! :)
Let’s see, other news? Ummmm not much! Do you believe it? I did record an Ask Roni today and should get it posted tomorrow. Other then that I have a product and book review in the works. Oh! and new, fun playlist on the way!
Right now I’m off to relax with the husband. I’m missing CSI!

What's Cooking in my kitchen?

Finally my first Farro idea! I have to say, I love this stuff! It's chewy and yummy and, well, fun! I tossed it with what I could find in my pantry and it made a wonderfully satisfying lunch. Filling but not heavy, tasty and quite nutrient dense. According to NutritionData.com this [...] -
I've seen it mentioned in a few of my clean eating and healthy cook books but honestly, I never even thought of Farro as an option for me. I refuse to shop at specialty stores and I try to use only common products that I can keep in stock and purchase from a typical grocery [...] -
I've never had a tuna melt. Is that weird? I guess that's what happens when you grow up not liking mayonnaise. I never ate tuna salad or egg salad or chicken salad. Honestly, they always kind of grossed me out. Then I realized.. hey.. why does tuna salad have [...] -
I have no idea where this idea came from. I was hungry. It was lunch. I had Brussels Sprouts. That was all the catalyst I needed.:) I decided to use a slice of real bacon to add flavor and little fat that would help sauté the sprouts. I'm trying [...] -
WOW was this good. I mean seriously good. It's not vegetarian so don't start throwing stones. I'm calling it a Garden Vegetable Burger because I use the new Laughing Cow Smooth Sensations Garden Vegetable Cream Cheese Spread. It was this recipe on Allrecipes.com that inspired [...] -
I drink water 99.9% of the time but every so often it just doesn't cut it. I want something else. Something more. Something slightly sweet. Today was one of those days. I decided to make a refreshing drink based on the famous Arnold Palmer, half lemonade and half iced [...] -
The other day I made a whole chicken on the grill in pieces. It was delicious! Just a little BBQ sauce and an open flame is all I need to make The Husband happy in the dinner department. I also picked up a few ears of corn from the grocery store. They aren't in season [...] -
Let me explain so you don't think I'm making a chili recipe and just put it on pizza. I'm calling this vegetarian Chili Pizza because chili is what inspired flavors. I think I told you. Little Bean is really into, well, BEANS! We go through a can about every 2 days. Yesterday [...] -
I've confessed my inability to follow recipes here on GreenLiteBites many, many times. I don't know why it's so hard for me. I can barely follow some of my own and I wrote the darn things! I think most of my problem stems from not having all the ingredients listed and, [...] -
Leftover brown rice and leftover sauce meet in this quick lunch idea inspired by my favorite food of all time: Pizza. I swear I can turn anything into a pizza concoction. Have you seen all my pizza ideas? I've used everything from pumpkin to zucchini, polenta to wontons. Nothing is off [...] -
This isn't a recipe just an idea I had to share. I can't believe how good it was! I've never had grilled pineapple. Can you believe it? I just never really had the desire to grill it before. When you love something raw sometimes it doesn't occur to you to cook it. [...] -
I whipped this up for lunch on a whim today because, well, I have a baby who's obsessed with three things… Cheese, Beans, and Avocado. No, really. Look... It's my go to meal for him so I find myself with beans and avocado readily available. [...] -
You know that tradition 7 Layer Mexican Dip? The one with the cream cheese, guacamole, salsa, lettuce, cheese, green onion and olives? Yea. That's the one. Well I had a craving for it the other day. Well, not exactly for it as I can never make anything the way it's suppose [...] -
If you go through the archives of GreenLiteBites I have about 5 total beef recipes. Five. Compare that to the 80+ I have tagged with chicken/turkey there's a clear winner in the meat department on my blog and in my home. I don't have a beef with beef (omg The Husband [...] -
I'm a kitchen sink smoothie maker. Whatever I have on hand goes in the blender and viola! A quick breakfast or a healthy snack. Last year I posted an "Elastic Approach" to how I make smoothies but I still like to share specific combinations that worked really well. This was one [...] -
The other night it was just the kids and I home for dinner and I decided to make what I wanted to make no holds barred. Without The Husband home it's much easier for some reason. Hmmm wonder why? Ok, not here to husband bash.. really.. I'm not! I'm here [...] -
*sigh* I was really hoping to share an awesome turkey burger idea. I had grand plans for my leftover ground turkey. The results was alright but they could have been so much better. I added diced pineapple, red pepper, green pepper, oats and soy sauce to the meat and formed 2 patties. In hindsight I [...] -
I made this on a total whim yesterday having no idea if it would work. To my surprise it did AND the husband actually said he liked it... UNSOLICITED! Here's the story. I had only 4 tilapia fillets defrosted for dinner. I knew it wasn't going to be enough for us [...] -
This is a slight reboot of a recipe I posted last year simply called Sweet Potato and Black Bean Chili. Staying true to my use-what-I-have-on-hand roots I, well, used what I had on hand and made a similar dish with a spicy twist. Topping the result with avocado added a cool creaminess that [...] -
Did you hear? The Laughing Cow recently launched Smooth Sensations a line of 5 cream cheese spreads. There's Classic Cream, Classic Cream Light, Strawberries & Cream, Garden Vegetable and my favorite… Cinnamon. It's a sweet wedge of creamy goodness! Today I decided to use my new favorite flavor [...] -
Confession time, I recorded a 30 minute video making this with both kids (partally) 2 nights ago. I miss videos. I really do but they seem so much more difficult with 2 children. I'm also having technical difficulties with my video recording and audio syncing making it VERY time consuming to edit. [...] -
A couple of years ago I shared a modified version of Sloppy Joe's I made for a party. Everyone loved it but I've been wanting to try to make something similar for the family on a smaller scale and without the pre-made canned Manwich sauce. I don't particularly have any issues [...] -
Yesterday I was dreaming about a salad. Not just any salad, but a chickpea filled, cucumber, and red onion salad with a fun, tangy dressing. Unfortunately, I had no cucumber or red onion. Well, that's a lie. I had a half of cucumber but it was a mushy mess and [...] -
Dinner meals are getting harder and harder for me to share lately. I've gone back to just whipping things up without really measuring anything (this meal was going to be one of those until I realized I still had enough light to take some photos.) I've also instituted a few brainless meal nights [...] -
Three years ago I posted a video called "Makin' Hard Boiled Eggs" where I shared my system for, well... making hard boiled eggs. Genius name, I know. I'm smart like that. Anyway, since then I've gotten tons of feedback and comments thanking me but all the information is locked in a long winded 10 minute [...]

It’s not Friday yet!! You still have 2 hours til midnight! I’m reading them on Thursday. So there, husband!!!
I’m in San Diego, so I always get your Thursday Thoughts on Thursday (usually by 7pm or so)…in fact, it took me a sec to “get it.” You have readers everywhere, baby!
Wow, great job on the running training. And I’m loving your new SMM blog. It’s funny, I’m not a professional blogger or anything, but I still enjoy reading about it. And there’s a lot to learn even for the “amateur.” And I can’t wait to hear your next Ask Roni – I need something to listen to while I’m working out!
P.S. It’s actually only 10pm here, so I’m totally reading them on Thursday. I often read them on Thursday, because my blog reading is the last thing I do before I go to bed. Besides “Thursday Thoughts” does sound a lot better that “Friday Thoughts.”
I know this is piddly, but could you make it to where the clickable links open in a new window rather than redirect? I’m not a techie, so I prolly didn’t even say that right and there’s prolly a good reason you don’t do that already :)
I’m reading them on Thursdays! It’s my last read before bed! I have wanted to do the three day breast cancer walk. I don’t think I am quite ready yet, but have debated the one in Tampa or Detroit (I think that’s where it is in Michigan). There is also a over night walk for Suicide Prevention that I have wanted to do. I think it is in Chicago. However, I am just not financially ready to travel there this year… maybe next year. Anyways.. thanks for all of the links. I am going to look them over now and get to bed!
Well, I read Thursday Thoughts on Thursday when I can – yay West Coast! It’s only 9:51pm now :) Though, right now I’m on my Sidekick phone with superslow internet, so I will actually check out the links tomorrow. I guess I read TTs on Thurs AND Friday :)
Brianne–Right click on the link you want, then on the sub-menu, left click on “Open in New Tab”. That way you get to keep your “Roni” tab, as well as have the new link(s) in other tab(s). I didn’t used to know this either, but Roni told me one time….and it does help that problem. :)
Roni–I LOVE the “10 Best Foods for your Heart” article. I just bought some avacados due to your Taco’ish soup recipe and you talking about them lately. I’ve always loved avacados…it’s just that they’re not something I’m used to eating. So I’m going to start getting used to eating them. I do need to eat more salmon, and the flax seeds…it says to grind them. Does your Magic Bullet grind them OK? The rest of those 10 foods, I already eat regularly. So that makes me feel good. Don’t you just love the feeling of “healthy living”?
Roni…do you have any idea why I can’t get to the recipes on that article in Health.com? I’m looking for the recipe on the flaxseeds page, called Hearty Multigrain Bread. So I began looking for a lot of their other recipes and it takes me to “nowhere”. Do you have to pay to be a member of that page or something?…do you know?
Thanks for the shout out to the Physical Activity Pyramid. Glad you liked it enough to share! Have a great weekend.
Thanks for the inspiration!!

Yee! Haw! I weighed 4 pounds lighter at my Weight Watchers meeting on Thursday! Two pounds a week is my goal and I stuck to it! My philosophy is, “I put it on, I can take it off!” I just have 6 pounds to go to get back to my Lifetime WW goal! THANKS, RONI….I’m using your Microsoft Excel Weight Loss chart for a visual reminder….I love the fact that you put BMI on the chart, too! It’s hard to believe that one pound lost is 3,500 calories! I ate sensibly and still lost 14,000 calories in two weeks! Can you tell that I’m thrilled!
Another great and informative Thursday thoughts post.
Its still just as relevant today (Friday) as it was yesterday. Besides, some of us blog readers get busy too and sometimes catch up on our blog reading on the weekend.
Bonnie–thank you! I am so tech-unsavvy, it’s a wonder I can ever turn my computer on.
As for me, I don’t care what day I read your thoughts, I am just happy that I get to read them. They are always so interesting and I learn something new every week. So there, hubby! lol
I like that physical activity pyramid! I’m going to print it out and post it on my wall.
