Thursday Thoughts XVIII
February 5, 2009

Well guys another week is about to end. Am I the only one who can’t remember when it started?? I don’t have much today as I pack my bags for Nashville! I’ve ever been and I’m totally pumped to meet some awesome bloggin’ ladies at Blissdom ‘09. Honestly, I’m totally unprepared and I fly out in in less then 24 hours. So I’m gonna have to make this quick. Please ignore any typos over my 1-2 average. :)
- I apparently stirred some heated responses to the whole "Jessica’s fat" media insanity by posting about Jennifer Aniston and how I’m jealous of her "Sleek Yoga Arms." Honestly, I purposely stayed away from the Jessica thing. I didn’t want to add fuel to the media fire and this ridiculousness about her beautiful size WHATEVER body. So when comments started to come in about her I realized I did you guys a disservice by not having a venting space about the whole thing. Thankfully Lady Downsize stepped up to the challenge and offered her blog up for venting. Go ahead, get it all out, I’ll still be here when you’re done.
- Ok, feel better? Now back to YOU! Cause that’s way more important then if someone you don’t even know changed dress sizes, isn’t it? Kari wrote a very motivating post by asking a very simple question, "What’s stopping you?" I know I’ve played the whole excuse game before so I appreciated her "finger pointing" approach.
- Now its my turn! (who am I kidding, the whole stinking blog is about me :P ) TokenFatGirl totally showed me some Luv and gave me a Luv Award. Thank you SO much TFG! {{HUGS}} So sorry I didn’t write you back!
- Now what? Oh yeah! A giveaway! This one has no shipping restrictions cause there’s nothing to ship! Check out SkinnyMinnyMedia (SMM) for my first geek giveaway! Emily from theBlogFairy.com donated her mad skillz. :) She also announced the contest and I have to link to it because it’s the first time I’ve seen my SMM logo shown somewhere besides my site and for some reason I think that’s cool! lol (I’m totally proud of that logo. Can you tell?)
- Also on my other blogs (crap now I have 2…) I posted about Domain Names on SMM and THREE dinner ideas on GreenLiteBites. Hmmmmm *she thinks aloud* I’ve been cooking more since making the no eat out commitment last week. Interesting. I’ve also noticed my credit cards starting to stabilize. Amazing how easy a bad habit can start to change when you make a commitment. This week we ate Naked Chicken Parm and last night I made the husband approved Pork Chops with Simple Mushroom Gravy. I don’t want to pat myself on the back or anything but seriously YUMMY. The toddler and I also made Sweet Chicken with Orzo and you can watch every boring moment of it on this weeks video post. :)
So that’s about it for now. I really need to clean and get ready for my trip. So much for the whole "having a house on the market will help me keep my house clean" theory. Umm yeah.. that’s not working. It’s not helping that it’s tax season and my office is basically one big pile of paper with 1099MISC forms sprinkled all over the place. I kinda of miss a full time job purely for the fact your entire income is nicely presented to you in a single W2 at the end of the year. Have I mentioned I loathe accounting. LOATHE IT!
Anyway. While I’m traveling and at the conference you’ll be able to find me on twitter @RonisWeigh. If you are in Nashville area let me know we can catch up at the conference!
If I don’t post again (which is unlikely) have a great weekend! :)

I’m not sure I’ve commented before, but it’s high time I did so - I love your blog (and have referenced GreenLiteBites on my own, btw - AWESOME), so I just wanted to pop up and say have a good trip and I love your Thursday Thoughts!

As a CPA, I can quite proudly say I loath taxes. Something weird seems to happen every year and turbo tax never has a question to address that weird something. Despite being a CPA, taxes are not my thing (I got a 53% on that bit of the CPA exam - which was passing that year). Instead, I research and help companies figure out new accounting rules and how to apply them. The IRS doesn’t actually use logic when coming up with tax rules though, so the same skills don’t really apply.
Have a great time in Nashville.

I was right there where you are a few years ago, selling our house. I then had a 6 month old and 2 yr old. It was impossible for me to keep up the house. The best thing I did was have someone come in and clean once a week. The house sold in less than a few months and the people were amazed that we had kids and it was spotless!!!!

Have fun on your trip! The post that you linked about “What’s stopping you” was especially good. There will always be some excuse we can me, we have to make the choice.

Roni, I have to say I was surprised by the sudden flux in traffic at my blog yesterday, then I realized the vast majority came from you. Wow. I don’t know whether visitors read my blog, but I appreciate you sharing my rant. I feel bad for those who suffer at the splattering of an insensitive comment or opinion. Sometimes people really can be verbally careless. I hope you have a great and inspiring weekend!

As a huge fan of Jessica, and someone who’s been reading blog posts about her and this whole “fat” thing, I think the entire situation is just overdone by the media. Jessica is not fat, and, in fact, she looks fantastic.
